Above the Seven Towers

Chapter 4: School gate horror

Li Jia is not tall and wears a pair of black-framed glasses. Although he looks ordinary, he has fair skin and is always neatly dressed. He exudes a refined temperament inside and out. He is a second-year graduate student at Huaxia University. He just became a freshman counselor this year. These days, he has been busy with the military training students and is recognized as a good guy by the freshmen.

Early this morning, Li Jia promised to bring breakfast to her roommate Xiao Chen, and went to the breakfast stand by the school wall as soon as she got up.

But just when Li Jia took the bun, there was a sudden sudden darkness in the sky and the ground began to shake violently.

Li Jia lost his balance and fell, hitting his head on the buns cart, and was stunned. When he finally came to his senses and climbed up with the help of the bench of the snack stand, he found that the buns seller behind the stall was staring at the back of him in a daze, as if he was possessed by a demon.

"What the hell..." the uncle muttered, "This is really seeing a ghost in broad daylight."

Li Jia thought that the uncle was probably frightened by the earthquake. He waved his hand in front of his eyes and said, "Are you okay? That must have been an earthquake..."

"No! No! Look behind you!" The uncle grabbed his arm and pulled him 180 degrees. Li Jia followed the uncle's line of sight and saw a scene that he would never forget.

The road ahead was broken in the middle, leaving only half of the roadway, and nothing else. Vehicles disappeared, buildings disappeared, pedestrians disappeared, and the street scene at the school gate disappeared. Instead, there were mountains in the distance and plains nearby. The school under their feet seemed to have been dug up by an invisible giant hand and thrown at the foot of a mountain, becoming an "island" rising from the flat ground.

Through the faint smoke, Li Jia could even see low and dilapidated stone houses spread out around a bell tower a little further away. It was an ancient yet lively medieval town.

The two stood there like statues. After a long while, the uncle finally managed to utter a sentence: "This...isn't it an earthquake? How come the entire school was shaken overseas?"

"Are we encountering something like the Bermuda incident? This, this..." Li Jia walked towards the edge of the "island" and found that the entire school was four or five meters above the ground. It felt like looking down from the third floor.

"Hey, classmates, look, there are people down there!" The uncle had already walked to the edge of the campus island and found that the "cliff" was full of ragged, dusty people. They were holding hoes and sticks and were staring at Li Jia and the other person who appeared above.

"They are not from Earth!" Li Jia couldn't help but shout. Although these people's body proportions and facial features looked the same as humans, how could Earthlings have blue and purple hair

The uncle said seriously: "Many of them are bleeding, and there seem to be people who have been beaten to death on the ground. This is a battlefield. Don't provoke them, we have to retreat and find people."

Li Jia didn't listen to him at all, and muttered to himself: "Is this an alien planet? Another world?" He pressed the bump on his head, hissing... It hurt so much, it wasn't a dream! He rubbed his eyes hard again, but the scene in front of him was still so unreal, as if he was in a bizarre TV series.

"@#@#¥%…" Suddenly, a burly man with a scar on his face and a machete in his hand shouted loudly. He shouted and drove people towards the school. At first, those people did not dare to come forward, and they all looked at Li Jia and the others with fear. But the scarred man seemed to promise something, nodding and patting his chest, and slowly a few people walked towards the school. The scarred man waved the machete and shouted loudly for a while, and more people followed.

"¥&&#! ¥&&#!" As Scarface shouted, these people started running, rushed to several openings with more collapse and gentler slopes, and began to climb up.

"Let's go! These guys are coming towards us." The uncle realized that something was wrong, so he pulled the distraught Li Jia over, ran to his stall, picked up a rolling pin, and stuffed a kitchen knife into Li Jia's hand.

"This is?"

"Weapons. Let's go into the school first, close the gate, and then ask other people for help. These people have just seen blood, it's troublesome!" said the uncle.

The snack stand was actually quite a distance from the school gate. Before Li Jia and the uncle ran to the gate, several people had already climbed up and blocked them. There were also pursuers behind them, rushing towards this side.

"What should I do?" Li Jia looked around anxiously. It had only been half a minute since those people surrounded him.

"Rush over now while there are few people around. At worst we can break into the school."

"I, I can't do it!" Li Jia had never fought since he was a child. Seeing these guys wielding sticks and hoes, his legs became weak. But the uncle was very strong. He pulled him up and ran. The two of them ran to the door in a blink of an eye.

At this time, three big men had blocked the way ahead, and both sides were holding weapons and confronting each other, looking quite nervous. Li Jia was still thinking about whether he could communicate with them, when the other side swung the hoe and steel fork in their hands.

What a great uncle, facing the attack of three people, he blocked Li Jia behind him and actually waved the rolling pin to meet him. Li Jia was surprised to find that the uncle's attack was very methodical, and his moves were fast and accurate. After a while, the three opponents were hit hard in the vital parts and fell to the ground wailing.

But this delay caused more people to come around, and the number of people around the uncle grew larger and larger, and he could no longer take care of Li Jia. Then two men, one tall and one short, came towards Li Jia with the intention of picking on the weak.

"Stop! Stop! Don't come over here! STOP!" Li Jia pointed a kitchen knife at the two people who were slowly approaching, and kept issuing warnings. However, the two farmer-like guys became excited because they saw Li Jia's nervousness. The tall one hit Li Jia's kitchen knife with a hoe, and the short one hit Li Jia's calf with a hoe.

"Get out! Get out of here!" Li Jia waved his kitchen knife and backed away, narrowly avoiding the attack on his lower body. He wanted to ask for help, but after seeing the old man knock down two or three more people, he was surrounded by more people and could not protect himself, and he was pushed step by step towards the wall.

"You, you barbarians." Li Jia knew he had no way out, so he gritted his teeth, wielded a kitchen knife and rushed forward, ready to fight. But he didn't expect that after he took two steps, he was hooked on the calf by the hoe of the shorter man, and stumbled and fell.

Coincidentally, when he fell down, his body rushed forward, and the kitchen knife swung around and hit the tall man's neck.

The short man screamed and took a few steps back, while the tall man held his throat with his hands, blood flowing out from between his fingers.

Li Jia was terrified. He squatted on the ground and watched the tall man slowly fall to the ground. No matter what the short man used to plug his wound, blood continued to seep out.

"Let's go!" The uncle took advantage of the daze of the people around him, broke through their encirclement, dragged Li Jia up, and ran towards the school gate.

The two fled into the school gate and closed the two large hollow iron doors. However, they found that the gate only had a symbolic bolt and it was estimated that a few hoes could smash the door open.

"Where are the security guards? Why are there no security guards here? Those people are about to rush over! I, I will kill their people." Li Jia looked at the bloody kitchen knife in his hand, his face pale.

"This is the side door. Not many people go here, and the security guards are often not here." The uncle glanced at the security room, which was empty. "Okay, classmate. I'll let you have some meat first."

"I, I was acting in self-defense! Hey! Let's not talk about this, let's run inside quickly! They won't let me go." Li Jia said anxiously. He saw more people climbing up. They surrounded the tall man lying on the ground and said something. At the same time, they kept looking at Li Jia with hatred.

"This door can't stop them. We have to stop them."

"Uncle, you're a sesame cake seller! Not a special forces soldier! Trying to be a hero like this is courting death!"

"Special forces? Humph, I didn't say to fight head-on... We should find something to scare them away." said the uncle.

"You're not crazy, are you? Who scared who? I, I'm leaving!" Li Jia turned around and ran, but was stopped by the uncle. He asked, "Listen to me, do they look like people from ancient times? There must be a lot of things they haven't seen before, right?"

"So what?"

"Yeah! I remember seeing on TV before that when Europeans first watched a movie, they were scared to death by the trains in the movie. Isn't it just because they are ignorant? These people look like bumpkins. Think of something that can scare them! Classmate, you are a top student from a prestigious university, your brain should be faster than mine."

Li Jia calmed down a little after hearing what Lao Chen said: "If we want to scare them, we have to make a big noise..."

"Noise..." The two looked at each other and took out their phones at the same time. Li Jia hesitated and said, "Uncle, do you think playing heavy metal music with this thing can scare them away?"

"I'm scared of those rock songs! I think this will work!" The uncle shook the one in his hand, "I'll help you with this too. This knockoff phone of mine has nothing special about it, but it's really loud!"

When the two saw that the tall man seemed to have died, the others began to rush over here. Without hesitation, they all selected the loudest song and turned up the volume on their phones to the maximum. Suddenly, a deafening singing sound filled the campus gate.

"Turn on your phone screen!" The uncle held up his phone and shook it at the people rushing to the door. Li Jia followed suit, waving his phone and shouting loudly. He really had too much frustration to vent today.

The people who rushed to the door were frightened by the sudden sound. What was even more terrifying than the sound was that two people were waving mysterious glowing objects like crazy.

Could this be the magic or spell from legend? Everyone looked terrified and was afraid to move forward.

The uncle took a few steps forward, ready to smear his phone in their faces.

"#¥%@#¥%!!!" Someone yelled, and the people blocking the door immediately scattered and fled back. Some people who were still climbing the slope were frightened by the scene and rolled down. The people below also shouted loudly. The scarred man shouted a few times, but couldn't stop anyone, and he became nervous. In a short while, everyone, including the scarred man, fled without a trace.

The uncle stood at the school gate with a mobile phone in one hand and a rolling pin in the other, looking very impressive. He didn't relax until he was out of sight. Li Jia's throat was almost hoarse, but she still held the phone high, fearing that others would see that she was just a show-off.

"Well, did we really scare those people away?" Li Jia asked in a hoarse voice.

"Hush!" The uncle opened the iron gate carefully and walked to the edge of the school island. "Hey, it's all clean. I told you, scaring people to death, these idiots really fell into the trap."

The two of them slowly retreated into the school, locked the school gate again, and walked into the campus.
