Almighty Coach

Chapter 191: Chance

Li Dai suggested that Zhao Yue should specialize in the 200 meters. After hearing this, Xue Li immediately fell into silence.

Dai Li knew that Xue Li was seriously considering his suggestion.

Whether at home or abroad, there are not many sprinters who specialize in 200 meters, or even very few. The vast majority of sprinters focus on 100 meters and also run 200 meters.

In terms of influence, 200 meters is of course far inferior to 100 meters. The world record holder of 100 meters is known as the "fastest man", but 200 meters has no title.

At the same time, in the Grand Prix, Super Grand Prix and Diamond League held by the IAAF, the probability of the 200-meter sprint appearing is also very small. According to IAAF rules, only one of the same types of events will be selected to appear in the competition.

For example, long jump and triple jump, high jump and pole vault, 800 meters and 1500 meters in middle-distance running, 5000 meters and 10000 meters in long-distance running, only one event can appear at a certain IAAF Grand Prix event.

As for the sprint event, if you choose between 100 meters and 200 meters, you will definitely choose the former. How can a track and field competition not have a 100-meter flying contest!

As a result, the 200 meters has become a stepchild, and generally only appears in high-level and large-scale events such as the World Athletics Championships, World Athletics World Cup and Olympic Games.

There are few competition opportunities in the 200-meter sprint. The world's top sprinters will naturally not specialize in practicing the 200-meter event. Even if athletes are very talented in the 200-meter event, they will focus mainly on the 100-meter event. , because there are many opportunities in 100-meter competitions. Only by running 100 meters well can you have the opportunity to participate in more competitions.

Many people think that 100-meter and 200-meter sprints are the same sport. Athletes who can run 100 meters quickly will run 200 meters very fast. Conversely, athletes who can run 200 meters quickly will also run 100 meters quickly.

In fact, this view is only half correct. Athletes who perform well in the 200-meter event will also perform well in the 100-meter event. But athletes who are good at 100 meters may not necessarily be able to run 200 meters.

The difference between 200 meters and 100 meters is that there is an extra 100 meters, and the extra 100 meters is a curve. The curve is the difficult part of 200 meters.

Because of this extra curve, athletes must master three more techniques. The first is the corner starting technique; the second is the corner running technique; and the third is the corner turning technique.

Starting in a curve is different from starting in a straight line. Starting in a straight line only requires you to rush forward with your head down, but starting in a curve requires controlling your body to turn after starting. Athletes need to maintain the starting speed and control the angle of movement. If both are combined, it becomes a complex starting technique.

The width of a track is about 1.22 meters to 1.25 meters. Considering the explosive power of a sprinter, if the body is not well controlled, it is easy to rush onto other people's track if you rush too hard at the start. If you deliberately slow down your starting speed to maintain the angle, your starting speed will lag behind others.

Sprinting is a sport where you lose an advantage of exactly 0.01 seconds. If you are a few tenths of a second slower than others at the starting stage, to put it bluntly, you have lost more than half of the race.

For an excellent corner start, the starting speed should be fast enough, the starting angle should be better, and you should be able to quickly control your body to run in the curve after starting. Even professional sprinters need to spend at least a year and a half to practice starting in a curve.

Running in corners is also a very complex technique. When an object turns at high speed, it will withstand a certain centripetal force. Therefore, the process of running in a curve is actually a process of controlling the body to resist the centripetal force.

At the same time, when running in curves, athletes must master the technique of running close to the inner edge of the track.

In a 100-meter curve, the inner edge of the runway is about 3.7 meters shorter than the outer edge of the runway. If you run 200 meters in 20 seconds, 3.7 meters is equivalent to 0.037 seconds. So when we look at the 200-meter sprint race, athletes will run desperately to the left side of the track in the corners, in order to save as much as possible 0.03 seconds of time.

However, according to the rules of sprinting, it is a foul for an athlete to step on the line and will be disqualified from the competition. It is impossible for athletes to keep their heads down and look at the sideline of the track while running. With the stride length and cadence of a professional sprinter, if you want to run close to the inside sideline of the track without stepping on the line, you must go through a long period of training. , this technique also takes more than half a year of training to master.

In addition, the moment when the curve enters the straight is another technical difficulty in the 200-meter dash.

After running through a 100-meter curve, the athlete's body already has the inertia of the curve. When turning to the straight, the first thing the athlete has to fight is the inertia of the body.

At the same time, at the moment entering the straight track, athletes must keep their speed from slowing down. Athletes with good skills can even accelerate at this stage.

The connection between the curve and the straight road, whether the technique is good or bad, will cause a gap of about 0.1 seconds. For this 0.1 second, athletes need to spend several months of practice to perfect their techniques.

Therefore, the 200-meter sprint event has few opportunities to compete, has high technical requirements, and is far less influential than the 100-meter sprint. For athletes, the cost-effectiveness of practicing 200-meter sprint is really low.

However, Li Dai feels that Zhao Yue is now very suitable to specialize in the 200-meter event.

When he was in the national team, Zhao Yue's main event was the 100 meters, and he once ran the 200 meters. He had a certain technical foundation in the 200 meters event and did not need to spend too much time practicing cornering techniques.

And at Zhao Yue's age, if he continues to practice 100 meters, he will no longer have a chance to stand out. There are too many outstanding talents among young athletes. Compared with talents like Yang Sijie, Zhao Yue has no competitiveness.

But the 200-meter event is different. If young athletes want to master the cornering skills, it will take at least two or three years of training. Although Zhao Yue is older, his skills are still there. With only a short period of training, he can become an instant combat power in the 200-meter event.

More importantly, Li Dai has detected that Zhao Yue's talent in the 200-meter event is better than his talent in the 100-meter event. Zhao Yue's talent for the 100-meter dash is B, and his talent for the 200-meter dash is B+. This shows that Zhao Yue has strong control over his body and he should be very good at running corners. Dai Li also found no athlete with a B+ talent in the 200 meters in the national team.

That's why Li Dai recommended to Xue Li that Zhao Yue should practice the 200 meters. Li Dai believed that if Zhao Yue could seize this opportunity, he would definitely be able to return to the national team.

However, Xue Li is not very optimistic about Zhao Yue. The "advanced age" of 26 years old makes Xue Li shy away from Zhao Yue.

Xue Li pondered for several minutes before speaking: "In two months, the training camp for the Asian Games will begin. A large number of athletes will be recruited to participate in the training camp. Of course, they will eventually be able to represent the country in the Asian Games." There are only about five or six people. Whether Zhao Yue can seize this opportunity and stand out from the selection depends on him."

Li Dai breathed a sigh of relief. He was very happy to be able to help Zhao Yue and win such an opportunity for Zhao Yue to return to the national team.

Xue Lize continued: "The Asian Games training camp will not only recruit athletes, but also coaches, so you have to participate. You haven't been home for some days, right? I will give you a holiday in a few days. Go home and take a look, and when you come back, follow me and prepare for the Asian Games! This time we are competing at home in the Asian Games, and we must get at least one medal in the sprint event!"
