The "Football War" was an armed conflict between El Salvador and Honduras between July 14 and 21, 1969. The "Football War" was recorded in the annals of history. This conflict was caused by the contradiction between the two countries, the instigation of the Salvadoran ruling group, and the conflict of interests of various American monopoly organizations in China and the United States.
Honduras and El Salvador, in order to qualify for the World Football Championship, had a disturbance in the big stadium during the match between the two football teams, which led to the severance of diplomatic relations between the two countries on June 26. This is the cause of the "football war". On July 14, the Salvadoran army invaded Honduras and the "Football War" broke out. Within 4 days, the Salvadoran army advanced 60 kilometers to the hinterland of Honduras and invaded an area of 400 square kilometers. After the intervention of the Organization of American States, the Salvadoran army ceased its offensive on July 18. As of July 21, the two sides stopped the war. In early August, El Salvador withdrew from Honduras. A few small-scale border conflicts lasted until the spring of 1970. During the war and after the war, the two countries persecuted each other's nationals, and nearly 3,000 people died.
