After Selina went in, Elizabeth solemnly thanked Luke.

Samantha had already told her eldest daughter Elizabeth roughly what had happened there, especially how Luke had saved many townspeople, including her entire family.

Without Luke, perhaps everyone in the town would have become food for spiders.

Luke listened to her for a few words and then interrupted her with his hand: "Okay, I received your thanks. I have helped you ensure the safety of your family, so you can't be careless at work. Didn't your mother say that she would bring your brother and sister over in a few days?"

Elizabeth nodded: "As I said, I will arrange it."

Luke thought for a moment before continuing, "Do you remember Chris?"

Elizabeth smiled awkwardly: "Remember, he is my mother's... old classmate."

As soon as Luke saw her expression, he knew she was an insider, and nodded with a smile, "It's good that you know."

The two talked for more than ten minutes. Elizabeth got up and went to the kitchen to thank Selina.

A few minutes later, Luke walked her out.

At the door, Luke suddenly asked, "Lisa, if one day you suddenly become rich, very rich, would you still want to continue doing this dangerous job?"

Elizabeth was stunned, thought for a moment, and said with a smile: "You are so rich now, why are you still doing this job?" She raised her hand and pointed to the house.

Luke shrugged. "It's just a hobby. Even if you have money, you can't just eat and wait for death. That kind of life is too boring."

Elizabeth nodded: "I think so too. When I get older, I can learn more about leadership and get promoted or switch to a clerical position. But now... I like this job very much."

Luke smiled and nodded, patting her shoulder: "Remember this, go back and have a good rest, I will be back to work tomorrow."

Elizabeth chuckled, "Well, I've been waiting for you to come back. Let's go."

After watching her get into the car, Luke closed the door and turned around. He saw Selina sitting on the sofa with a playful look on her face: "You are becoming more and more proactive now?"

Luke went over and sat down: "What initiative?"

Selena: "Take the initiative to flirt with girls."

Luke rolled his eyes: "If this is considered flirting, doesn't Dustin harass his female subordinates every day?"

Selina was speechless, and after a moment she asked, "Are you optimistic about her?"

Luke nodded. "Not bad. With her intelligence, education and hard work, as long as she's not unlucky, she'll be promoted to sergeant in a few years. If people like this don't invest early and really grow up, people won't want them."

Selina looked unconvinced: "You are kidding me. At least when you asked her what she wanted to do after she became rich, it was definitely not for this reason."

Luke admitted: "Just make sure in advance, in case you suddenly lack helpers who can do things, and then you will have to do a lot of things."

Selina thought for a moment and said, "You mean, she will get rich soon?"

Luke: "I'm not sure, and it may not be that she got rich, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Okay, take a break and train later."

Selina: "... You must be seeking revenge, right?"

The next day, Selina woke up again at the call of the Luke's alarm clock, enjoyed her most familiar Luke's breakfast, took some Luke's dessert, and went to work contentedly.

The two wanted to find Elsa, but found Martin and Roger in the office.

Of course, the two of them would not force their way over. Luke turned around decisively and took Selina back to his desk, looking at the door of Elsa's office from a distance.

That guy Roger, last time he asked him to share the risk, ended up being attacked by Bullseye.

Luke felt that he had to be careful when dealing with this kind of flying pot man, otherwise another pot might fly over for no reason one day.

Fighting with Bullseye was actually nothing, it would happen sooner or later, but Luke suspected that Roger was a natural unlucky person, otherwise why did his partner Martin look so unlucky

Soon, Roger and Martin came out and left, not noticing the two people hiding in the distance.

Luke and the other man then slipped into the office and closed the door.

"Boss, why are Roger and Martin here?" Luke asked casually.

Elsa sighed, "Martin... has not been in a good mental state recently and needs more rest, so they came over to say hello and hand over the case to us."

When Luke heard this, he frowned and asked, "What about Martin..."

Elsa shook her head: "Don't ask, and don't tell anyone, but he won't take any more cases in the short term."

Of course Luke understood.

If it is just a short period of proper rest and adjustment, the detectives in the team will at most hand over a few more urgent cases to avoid delays in handling the case.

But from Elsa's tone, it was obvious that these two people had transferred most of the cases, and Martin's recovery was not optimistic. If things went wrong, he might not be a police officer at all.

There is precedent for this kind of thing.

Things like family problems, attacks, serious illnesses, etc., can cause a police officer's condition to plummet, making him unable to continue working and he can only rest. After resting for a period of time, he may resign.

Elsa was obviously not very happy either.

Martin was transferred to the Serious Crime Unit in recent months, so she wasn't very familiar with him, but Roger was an old detective in the Serious Crime Unit.

It would be a miracle if Martin said that this incident had no impact on Roger.

A policeman's partner is almost like a wife. If he meets a bad one, the work will become a nightmare.

She stopped talking about this unpleasant topic and got to the point: "Now, you should take over the important case in Roger's hands."

Luke said, "Where's the file?"

Elsa nodded and gestured to the side.

When Luke and the others looked over, they saw a stack of files that was more than thirty centimeters high.

"You have to be kidding." Luke turned his head suspiciously and looked at Elsa.

Elsa sighed helplessly: "Unfortunately, this is the boss's order. What you have done is only the important part. There are still a lot of other things. I have sent them to Elizabeth and others to do. I will also take on some of them myself."

Luke chuckled: "Thank you for your hard work, Boss."

Having said that, he didn't have much to say. Elsa had been assigned a mission, so she couldn't avoid this matter.

Luke picked up the stack of files, Selina put down her daily snack, and they returned to their desks.

Elizabeth and Billy on the side looked up and greeted: "You're here."

Luke threw the file on the table: "Now we have something to do."

Elizabeth smiled and said, "That's why I told you last night, just waiting for you to come back."

Selina: "Thank you so much, Lisa, at least we got a good night's sleep."

Elizabeth: "You're welcome. It's what I should do."

Of course, the two would not blame Elizabeth for not informing them in advance. Even if they had been informed, these cases would have been handed over to them anyway.

There are even more files on Elizabeth and Billy's desks, and the files around them stacked together are more than fifty centimeters thick.
