Chapter 400: Visit and discover the first crime scene (2 more)

Through on-site investigation, it can be determined whether Wendy's body was brought here by the water flow or was directly dumped there by someone.

If the body was dumped by someone, whether it was thrown on the beach and swept into the sea, or thrown directly into the sea by a boat, these will lead to different directions of the investigation.

The two men arrived at the yellow belt, where the female corpse was fished out.

Taking out the scene photos in the file, the two looked at the sea where the female corpse was found. Luke said, "The water flow is coming from that side." He pointed to the other side.

The two walked a few hundred meters along the beach, crossed a small raised slope, looked to the other side, and were suddenly speechless.

On the other side of the hill, looking ahead, you can see a series of villas of various kinds on the beach a few hundred meters away.

Selina pulled up the map and looked at it, explaining, "That's a villa area, with at least forty or fifty households."

Luke held his forehead with his hand: "Does that mean we still have to check them one by one?"

Selina looked at the map and suddenly said, "I think why not find a specialty seafood restaurant for lunch?"

Luke: “Huh?” It was just past ten in the morning, so it was still early for lunch.

Selina enlarged the map on the tablet and held it out to him: "Look what's here."

Luke looked and saw that it was the beach from the direction they came from. There were several restaurants there.

Luke raised an eyebrow: "Are you sure they have any special seafood?"

Selina: "Maybe there are lobsters."

Luke laughed: "Let's go, if there is any, our lunch will be taken care of."

The two got back in the car, drove back a kilometer or two, slowed down and looked at the restaurant on the roadside.

Among several good-quality restaurants, we quickly decided on a Grill.

Selina smiled and said, "How is it?"

Luke nodded: "This is the one."

A small sign outside of Greer's Restaurant reads prominently: Today's special seafood: Boston lobster.

In fact, this lobster is Maine lobster, which is not produced in Boston, but in Canada and North America.

"Boston lobster is best eaten blanched and topped with cheese," he said.

Selina's saliva was secreted: "Ah, let's not talk about this topic first, we are here to investigate the case."

Luke didn't torture the foodie, and the two went in and found a waitress.

After showing her the police badge, he showed her the photo of the woman's body when she was alive: "Have you seen this lady?"

The waitress took a look and smiled, "Of course, Ms. Wendy will come here once every week or two."

Luke: “She’s alone?”

The waitress paused, but looking at Luke's smiling face, she replied, "No, it's Mr. Swick, a very elegant gentleman."

Luke and Selina looked at each other and said, "Are they always together?"

Waitress: "More or less, but Mr. Swick occasionally comes to dine alone."

Luke thought for a moment and asked, "Do you remember that these two came here for dinner the night before last?"

The waitress nodded: "Remember, they are sitting at my table."

Luke: "So is there anything unusual about them? Like quarreling or something like that."

The waitress shook her head: "No, they have always had a good relationship, at least that's what I saw."

Luke hummed, "So after eating, they left together?"

The waitress shook her head. “No, Ms. Wendy drove our boat away alone. Mr. Swick drove his own car. However, Ms. Wendy has not returned our boat since she left.”

Luke and the other man couldn't help but look at each other again: "What ship?"

The waitress pointed to the small pier by the sea: "That's the boat we provide for guests to go to the beach temporarily."

The two looked over there and found a white boat with a green edge, similar to the ones ordinary anglers sit in, usually with only two or three people sitting in it.

He thought for a moment and continued, "What about Mr. Swick?"

After a while, Luke and his friend got the address of Mr. Swick. He smiled and said to the waitress, "Please reserve a table for us. We are going to have lunch later. I hope you can serve us."

The waitress's smile became even brighter, knowing that she would get a tip later.

The man who had been eating with Wendy for a long time, whose full name was Fili Swick, lived in the villa area that Luke and the others had just seen.

Luke looked at Selina and asked, "Did you think of anything?"

Selina sat in the passenger seat and drew a few lines on the tablet: "Is this true?"

On the tablet map, a line connected the restaurant to Swick's home in the villa area, and Wendy's name appeared above a stick figure of a boat floating on the sea, but there was a question mark after it.

Luke looked at it and nodded: "That's about it. It depends on where Wendy died."

An hour later, the two came out of the villa area over there. After a while of silence, Selina couldn't help but ask, "Do you think what he said is true?"

Luke: "I don't know. We have seen many criminals with good acting skills. Just because he cries sadly doesn't mean he is innocent."

Selina smacked her lips. "If I'm just talking about my feelings, I don't think he killed Wendy."

Luke didn't refute her words. After all, what she said was just a feeling, not a judgment.

Fili Swick has an above-average appearance, good temperament and conversation, and it is indeed easy for him to win people's favor.

But Wendy's husband seems... a little pitiful!

In the conversation just now, Mr. Swick was frank and told them that he and Wendy were in a relationship, and that both of them were separated from their spouses and waiting for divorce, and then they would be together.

He was indeed with Wendy that night. Wendy came to him by boat, and after they got intimate, Wendy left by boat.

Selena was surprised at the time: "Why don't you drive back together?"

Swick looked sad. "She doesn't want others to see her driving to my house. She always comes by boat. You know, she's not divorced yet."

Luke and the other man looked at each other at that time. They thought that Wendy's real husband had not called the police to report his wife missing for three days, and that the relationship between the couple was indeed not very good.

Luke said, "Let's go and walk along the coast and see if we can find the boat. Maybe that's the first crime scene."

The two did not drive, but searched directly along the coastal road.

Forty minutes later, Luke and Selina stood on a weedy shore, looking at a small boat hidden in it: "Well, at least there is something we can check."

The boat had a white background and green edges, and there was a patch of dried blood somewhere along the edge of the boat.

It was by the smell of blood that Luke discovered the boat.

The wind was quite strong here, but the boat was a signal source that kept emitting smells, and Luke spotted it fifty meters away.

That's the smell of Wendy.
