Chapter 542: They got the wrong person, they are not mine (2 more)

Luke drove an ordinary, broken Honda into a desolate bungalow compound somewhere in Itaoka.

After hiding the vehicle, he dragged Hernan from the trunk into the basement.

After entering the basement, Luke began to remove his makeup.

Unlike previous actions, he showed his face this time.

The face of a handsome African-American man with very distinctive ethnic features was exposed to the outside world. Except for his sunglasses, there was no cover. Dominic and others present and the police could see it clearly as long as they were not blind.

After fiddling with the shoulder blades below his neck for a while, he slowly exerted force with both hands and completely took off the mask.

Looking at the highly-replica black rubber mask in his hand, he chuckled, "It's a pity that the African face can't be used too much."

He casually put the mask into the storage space and turned his gaze to Hernan who had his back to him.

After thinking about it, he put on the hood and walked in front of Hernan.

A moment later, Hernan's screams of pain echoed in the basement.

After keeping Hernan awake for almost twenty-four hours, Luke used fatigue interrogation and mental communication that barely touched the fur to pry open Hernan's mouth.

After making sure that all the value had been squeezed out of him, the big boss disappeared quietly from this world.

There were no gunshots to see him off, no celebration from the enemy, and no onlookers from his subordinates. He just disappeared from the face of the earth.

In Rio, Hernan's men also had different thoughts.

The search for Hernan has never stopped, but the number of people who really want to find this big boss is far less than imagined, and even the police's search seems to be just a perfunctory job.

A living Hernan deserves everyone's support and respect, but a dead Hernan is nothing.

As for Hernan's life or death being in danger, everyone felt that there was no need to work too hard, and no one was a fool.

Although the atmosphere here at Luke is different from that at Dominic's, the gains are similar.

He got his hands on several of Hernan's secret accounts in the Cayman Islands, as well as the keys and passwords to several bank safes around the world.

Hernan is a tyrant-like boss who has ruled this city for nearly ten years. How could he only have over 100 million US dollars in cash

The account that Luke squeezed out of Hernan had over 200 million in deposits, and tens of millions in other non-cash assets.

Unfortunately, he can't use these things for the time being.

If you are an ordinary person, you just need to transfer the money to your account legally and then you can use it at will.

But Luke couldn't do that.

He has a formal official identity, and more and more people will notice him in the future. What he needs is not simple legal funds, but funds with a completely clean origin.

This is why Luke thought about selling technology patents and investing in the mining of gold in Fanrong Town, but never thought about money laundering.

Because the money obtained by the first two is clean and can withstand anyone's scrutiny.

His wealth only proved that he was a technological genius, or a nouveau riche who was lucky enough to open a big gold mine.

Only in this way can Luke always have a clean record and exist in the files of certain people and institutions without becoming a key target of suspicion.

People with dirty hands will sooner or later be caught by someone and blackmailed.

He is not Tony Stark, he does not have a huge group to support him, and he is not qualified to negotiate with certain people and forces.

Until then, he will always be a good policeman with a clean and innocent character.

That's why he would never touch the stolen money in the safe.

Even if someone from Dominic's gang was caught, it would be impossible to identify him as having participated in the robbery.

Because he was not involved in the planning, execution, and distribution of the robbery.

Luke finished everything and fell asleep.

More than an hour later, he was awakened by the vibration of his cell phone.

He answered it with his eyes closed and said dazedly, "Hello?"

There was silence for a moment, and then Vanessa's voice rang out: "It's me. I need to talk to you about something."

Luke yawned, opened one eye and looked at the sky. It was already afternoon and sunset. "Time, place?"

Vanessa: "At the abandoned factory, it would be best if it were right away."

Luke hummed, "Wait for me for thirty minutes."

"Ok!" Vanessa simply responded and hung up the phone.

Luke stood up, blinked his eyes and regained his composure. He stretched and said, "Well, I've had enough sleep. I can go move around."

As he said this, he chuckled, quickly washed, changed his clothes, and set off.

Before night fell, Luke drove his broken Honda into the abandoned factory.

The factory is now deserted.

Apart from the various abandoned items that were moved to the corner and piled up, there was only a sofa and a car in the middle of the factory.

Luke parked the car not far from the sofa, got out of the car and smiled at Vanessa who had just closed the door: "Hello, you look in good spirits today."

Vanessa looked relaxed, and compared to her previous bad luck-filled look, she looked radiant.

When she heard Luke's words, she looked at his car and asked, "Where's that car?"

Luke laughed and said, "It was stolen."

Vanessa stared at him for a moment: "You are really careless."

Luke stepped forward and hugged her waist, rubbing his palms carefully on it: "Yeah, this was also accidental."

Vanessa raised her eyebrows, ignoring his actions. She just nodded at a big bag on the sofa and said, "Dominic and the others gave you five million US dollars as a reward for saving the four of them."

Luke chuckled and moved his hand downwards. “No, I didn’t save any of them. They got the wrong person.”

Vanessa instinctively wanted to say "no way", but she was not stupid.

It only took her a split second to figure it out. She widened her charming eyes and said, "So, the one who saved Hobbs, Dominic and the others was just an unknown person with his face covered?"

Luke shrugged, "Yeah. I'm a law-abiding tourist. I'm going to be a strict detective when I return to Los Angeles. There's no way I'm going to mess around in Brazil."

Vanessa didn't know whether to laugh or cry: "Are you serious?"

Luke nodded: "I'm serious."

Vanessa: "That's five million dollars. Are you sure?"

Luke nodded as a matter of course: "Sure, they're really not mine."

Vanessa was silent for a moment, then said in annoyance, "What should I do? Can I call all Dominic back and tell them that they can get some money back?"

Dominic's family had long since dispersed, each going their own way to enjoy their new lives, and Vincent, who was just a bystander, also took the money and went back to find his wife and daughter.

Therefore, she really didn't know how to get the money back.

Luke looked at her annoyed expression, chuckled, and raised his hands down and then up again: "I remember a woman in New York who lost a car with more than 10 million US dollars in cash in it?"

Vanessa's electric eyes drifted over, and she said with a half-smile, "Yes, it was all thanks to the unremitting efforts of a certain detective that others got nothing and almost swam back to Brazil naked."
