Being A Detective in The World of Film and Television

Chapter 719: Miss Ginny is in trouble? (3 more)

Things like police families are still quite popular within the police department, even if they are just police "families" in small towns.

The less tradition a person has, the more they value tradition.

Some American film and television works boast about their ancestral history, including being "one of the first members to ride on the Mayflower."

After hearing this introduction, people who don’t know the situation could easily think that those were princes and nobles who were granted fiefdoms in the Americas.

But Americans like to talk about this kind of "history". After all, it is the "oldest" American family.

After finishing his nonsense, Harrison dragged Luke away.

Of course, we need to consult Luke, the provider, to confirm the situation.

The two of them looked at the thirty-odd oddball students again. No matter who Harrison liked, Luke pointed out all the oddballs.

Half an hour later, Harrison walked away absentmindedly, forgetting even to say thank you.

He has been thinking about how to get these unique players into his team for internship and make the best use of them.

Luke also flashed away.

The list was given to Remick, and he didn't have to come to the police academy often. He could just take a look at it when he picked up Claire.

Deciding to be lazy, he returned to the police station.

As soon as I entered the serious crime team office, Billy pulled me into Elsa's office.

After knocking on the door, Elizabeth opened it and let the two in.

Except for Elsa's new partner Simmons, the entire Elsa team is there.

Luke looked directly at Elsa, "Okay, what happened?"

Elsa sighed, "Elizabeth and the others went to the state police and found a big clue in their archives. I told them to wait until you come back."

Luke raised an eyebrow, took the file she handed over, flipped through it for a moment, and then raised his head: "Thirty-one suspected missing cases? All girls and children?"

Elsa nodded heavily, "Yes, and look at where these people disappeared."

Luke flipped to a map and looked at the red dot marked on it, with the date of the crime next to it.

"Twenty-seven of the cases occurred within a fifty-kilometer area around the city of Esworth, and Elizabeth, you haven't checked the files of the Esworth Police Department yet, right?" he asked.

Elizabeth nodded silently.

Luke looked at Elsa: "Still checking?"

Elsa stared at Elizabeth and Billy, and after a moment she said, "This case ends here. Don't mention anything more about it."

Elizabeth: "Boss, this..."

Elsa leaned closer to the chair, the pen in her hand slowly turning. "No matter what evidence you find, it won't bring down the Esworth family. It will only kill you and implicate your family. No one likes others to know their dirty deeds, especially big families."

She sighed before continuing, "You can't possibly get any credit for this. Even Esworth's political enemies wouldn't want you to do this. If you just need an answer, then keep silent and wait."

Having said that, she waved her hand, signaling Elizabeth and the other woman to leave.

After the office door was closed again, Elsa looked at Luke and said, "You come to check?"

Luke chuckled: "Boss, aren't you afraid that I will offend the Esworth family this time?"

Elsa was silent for a moment before she said, "The previous incidents were at most power struggles among bigwigs, and have nothing to do with us. But these cases are beyond my imagination. If you don't want to investigate, forget it. I'll hand it over to someone else."

Luke smiled and said, "You only have two groups of people, Elizabeth and I. Don't even think you can do it alone. Boss, how long have you not investigated a case like this? Aren't you afraid that someone will make you disappear?"

Elsa smiled bitterly: "Don't scare me, I know the seriousness of the matter."

Luke waved his hand and said, "Let me check it. I won't use the resources and channels of the police station. The chances of problems going wrong are low."

At this point, he looked at Elsa and said, "But don't ask about this case anymore. Just pretend you don't know."

Elsa's mouth twitched: "Isn't this what I just told Elizabeth? Do I need you to teach me?"

But looking at Luke's calm expression, she nodded slowly.

Just like she said before, there would be no credit in investigating this case, and the police station would not protect them.

Esworth has connections in Los Angeles and plenty of connections in the police department, and any word of it would only create trouble for the investigation.

This is power!

After going out, Luke and his partner continued to handle other cases during the day. When they got home at night, they ate, trained and worked overtime. Everything was normal.

Just as Luke was sitting in the living room thinking about how to work part-time as a confessional priest and which gang leader to talk to and get intelligence, his cell phone rang.

After the call was connected, Ginny asked directly: "Where are you?"

Luke: “Home.”

"Come to my house, I have something to ask you." Ginny said neatly.

Luke looked at the time and thought he could spare some time, so he agreed: "...Okay."

Beep beep~

Ginny had already hung up the phone.

Luke was stunned: Did the young lady take a stab today? Why didn't she even say goodbye

He still felt a little embarrassed while driving on the road.

He had originally agreed to go to Europe to improve Miss Beth's impression points and create some benefits for the mobile phone company, but when he got there he found that it was a great opportunity to improve his points.

Between experience points and money, he chose experience points.

After all, money is something that can be earned sooner or later, but experience points will never be enough.

Now that I think about it, he didn't seem to have accomplished his intended task.

Perhaps when we discuss business later, I need to work harder so that Miss Ginny can vent her anger. Someone made up his mind.

Through the passage that he had personally modified for Ginny with a security system, Luke went directly into the villa's underground parking garage. He sent a message to her to open the door of the secret passage.

The reason for changing the meeting method was that the business matters the two discussed were becoming increasingly important and they could no longer meet in a hotel room as before.

Ginny also replaced her security and asked Luke to personally screen them in secret before finally forming the current security team.

As for the security team sent by Ginny's father in the past, they naturally finished their work and left.

She was extremely disappointed with her father, but she didn't need to rely on her father to pay for her living expenses and security wages to numb herself, proving that her father still loved her as much as before.

She has to stand up again in her own way.

But it was as Ginny Gwyneth herself that became the focus of world attention, not as someone's daughter.

Of course Luke was happy to see this happen.

He wants to find a friend, it's really simple.

The reason why I can maintain my relationship with Ginny is mainly because of some common needs.

He needs a business partner and a wealthy boss who can stand in the open.

Instead of relying on someone powerful, it is better to cultivate one yourself.

Thinking about Ginny's recent progress, Luke still felt that this time the persuasion would require a combination of soft and hard tactics.

Being tough all the time is not the way to get along with partners.
