Being A Detective in The World of Film and Television

Chapter 875: A bicycle is the most practical thing

Views:

The next day, before eight o'clock, Luke and his friend went out to work, just to avoid the terrible rush hour in New York.

As they walked into the office lobby of the Detective Bureau, they met two detectives walking out as soon as they entered the door.

The kind-hearted man at the head, who had some Indian blood, was called Joe Lambert.

The one lagging behind was a petite woman with short curly blond hair named Connie Kowalski.

Luke and Selina moved aside slightly, saying, "Good morning, Joe, Connie."

As a result, the two detectives stopped walking, and the middle-aged man reached out and half-hugged Luke: "Don't be so polite, we are colleagues now, Luke."

Luke smiled and reached out to pat his shoulder: "Of course, Joe."

Qiao then said, "We still have some work to do. Let's go out for a drink after get off work sometime. How about we set the time in these two days?"

Luke smiled: "Okay."

The four of them said goodbye in a hurry.

That's what detective work is like. There's no time to stop and chat, you just have to get straight to the point.

Of course, these two people were not greeting each other for no reason. They were the group of colleagues who were with John McClane yesterday.

Now that I know Luke's background, of course I have to find an opportunity to get to know him.

Otherwise, when something really happens, the treatment will be different depending on whether you have a relationship with me or not.

When they walked into the hall, several people around them greeted them. They were all the group of people who were with John yesterday.

The two smiled and nodded in response, heading all the way to Dustin's office.

Inside, Dustin was talking to someone.

Luke wanted to wait at the door, but Dustin waved him and said, "Come in. There's a case here that needs you to follow along."

Luke and his companion walked in and greeted Dustin politely.

When there are other people around, they can't be too casual and must maintain Dustin's authority in front of his subordinates.

Dustin nodded. "Walter, John shot and killed another suspect yesterday. The suspect's relatives have come to the police station and said they want to file a complaint against him for abusing force."

Walter: "Commissioner Hammer, you know what's going on. That guy has explosives..."

Dustin raised his hand. "I know. Do you think I want John to sleep at home? But even for his future, he'd better rest for two days and wait for the police to come up with a conclusion and get rid of those relatives who want to get rich."

Walter was speechless.

Dustin then pointed at Luke and the other two and said, "For today's case, you should go with Detective Luke Coulson and Detective Selina Hayek. They happen to be familiar with the place, right, Luke?"

Luke nodded.

As for what place he is familiar with, he won't ask.

Dustin is new in the job, and it's not easy for him to overpower the experienced police officers under him. The Walter Cobb in front of him is an experienced lieutenant, who is only one level away from being a captain.

Walter turned his head to look at Luke and the others, then looked at Dustin, and could only agree: "Okay, then I'll take them to see it first." Then he ran away.

After Walter walked out the door, Luke winked at Dustin, meaning "Boss, your team is not easy to lead."

Dustin snorted, picked up a file on the table and threw it over: "Don't be too careless. Well, don't let Walter get beaten to death."

Luke raised his hand and saluted: "Yes, sir." Without even looking at Dustin's ugly face, he walked out the door quickly.

Selina put the brown paper bag in her hand on a chair not far from the door and slipped away with a smile.

Dustin watched the two of them follow Walter, who had a sullen face, and sighed. He got up, closed the door, and picked up the snacks that Selina had sent.

He took one out and took a big bite, mumbling in a low voice, "Damn it, it's only good to have someone I trained myself. None of these bastards are easy to deal with."

“These bastards” of course refers to those guys in the Detective Bureau.

It is never easy to be an airborne director.

Here, Luke was distracted, flipping through the files in his hand quickly while following Walter: "Inspector Cobb, are we going over now?"

Walter Cobb, the leader who carried out the mission with John yesterday, was a middle-aged white man. The most striking thing about him was that he had two neatly-lined mustaches and thick eyebrows.

The suit, tie and white shirt he wore were of medium quality. Although they were not very clean and tidy, they proved that he was not a slovenly middle-aged loser like John McClane.

In fact, if Dustin hadn't come out of nowhere, this lieutenant Cobb would probably have become the section chief of the Detective Bureau, and he would have been called Captain Cobb.

With this guy's seniority in the detective bureau, the usually tough Dustin had to reason with him, because as a newcomer he couldn't control Walter.

As Walter walked, he glanced sideways at Luke.

Seeing him flipping through the files, Walter couldn’t help but curl his lips: “Boy, just looking at the information can’t solve the problem. I heard that you are very good at hands-on work?”

Luke raised his head, looked at Walter and smiled: “Generally, I prefer to reason with people.”

Walter's eyebrows jumped, and his originally impatient mood calmed down a lot. He stopped and turned to look at Luke: "Really? That's not what John said."

Luke handed the file to Selina casually: "I am a policeman and I represent the law. So I usually use legal means against the suspect first."

The corner of Walter’s mouth twitched, and he suddenly raised his hand and patted him on the shoulder: “Boy, just based on these few words of yours, John should call you sir in five years.”

Luke smiled: "This doesn't seem like a good thing."

Walter: “Oh?”

Luke: "As a superior, you have to worry about your subordinates at all times. Chief Cobb knows this very well."

Walter’s face couldn’t help but fall: “As long as you don’t let Dustin worry about it in the future.”

Luke smiled and said, "I will do my best not to cause any trouble to the officers."

Walter could only hum twice when he saw Luke's proper attitude.

When he thought of that bastard who always caused trouble for him whenever he did something, he felt very complicated.

After completing the first tentative conversation, the three of them went to the parking lot.

Walter's partner, a middle-aged detective in his forties wearing glasses, Ricky Walsh, was there.

After saying hello to Luke and the others, Ricky took Walter and set off, and Luke and the others followed in a car.

Not long after leaving the house, two cars were stuck on the road.

Selina took out a cake from the food box in the back out of boredom and took a bite: "emumu~ The traffic situation is really bad."

Luke shrugged: "This is New York, this is Manhattan."

Selina: "What if it's an emergency mission and we encounter a traffic jam like this?"

Luke hesitated for a moment and replied, "How about I put two bicycles on the car from now on?"

Selina looked at the traffic outside, thought seriously for a moment, and nodded in agreement: "Indeed, bicycles are the most practical. This is fine."
