Being A Detective in The World of Film and Television

Chapter 999: The origin of the troublemaker family (Part 2)

At this moment, the two were only three meters apart.

Unlike the previous phone call where he could only hear the voice, Luke could easily sense through telepathic communication that this noble lady, who was known in New York's upper class circles for her arrogance and harshness, really admired him.

His initial plan of just saying a few words to get it over with proved difficult to implement.

The two chatted for a while, and Luke felt even weirder.

Why does this Aurora sound like she is checking the household registration

I asked him with great interest about his education background, work experience, family situation, and his requirements for a future spouse.

Luke had no interest in chatting with this noble lady about his privacy. He laughed a few times and then said directly, "Mrs. Soderberg, you called me here, didn't you just ask these questions?"

Aurora chuckled and took a sip of the tea. “Luke, I just told you to just call me Aurora.”

Luke: "Okay, Aurora, can you answer my question now?"

Aurora blinked her eyes, revealing a cunning girlish look: "If I say that I really just want to talk to you about these little things in life, will you leave immediately?"

Luke raised his eyebrows, feeling a little amused: This is actually true.

Aurora certainly had no idea who she was facing, and she made no attempt to hide her attitude.

Moreover, although Aurora was in her early forties, she had never been poor since she was a child and was in very good condition.

Her daughter Lindsay is a beauty even without makeup. Aurora is about 70% similar to her daughter and looks equally good.

Just looking at her looks and temperament, without considering the harsh words, she can completely charm men regardless of the age gap.

The little blink just now was very different from her usual arrogant behavior. It seemed very casual and much more likable than that of a noble lady.

Luke laughed, "Aurora, I'm just a junior detective, and a very young one at that. I'd rather spend my office hours on work, and small talk is not on my schedule."

Aurora's eyes showed even more admiration.

If it were other young people, most of them would come immediately after being invited by her, and work would not be important at all.

However, now that Luke had made it clear, she couldn't really say that she was here to investigate her daughter's "male friend."

She coughed lightly. "I need to thank you for the Monroe incident. If you run into any trouble in New York in the future, you can find me because you have my private phone number."

Luke looked at Aurora who suddenly became "kind" and felt a little uncomfortable: "It always feels weird when you are like this! This kind way really doesn't suit you."

He could only nod: "Okay, I will if you need me to."

I don't think I need anything from you, so you can just go and have fun wherever you want. He couldn't help but add in his mind.

Aurora smiled and said, "But, I have a request."

Luke didn't want to waste time, so he said directly: "You go ahead."

Aurora: "If you have a moment, please enlighten Lindsay."

Looking at Luke's surprised expression, she sighed, "I agree with what you said in the police station the day before yesterday. If family members only talk about the law and not family affection when getting along with each other, what's the point of that?"

This is true. Luke got the result again.

"You are in the detective bureau, so you must have heard about our family's 'big name' from your superiors and colleagues. But if you just go back and ask about our family's reputation in the police station two years ago, you will know that we had no choice." Aurora said with a self-deprecating smile.

After a pause, she was a little depressed. "My daughter has grown up and has her own ideas since she went to college. She always thinks that whatever we say is wrong and that we are interfering with her freedom of life. But we just don't want her to step into a quagmire. Even if she can walk out of the quagmire, sooner or later others will hold up the ugly photos of her wallowing in the quagmire to mock her for not keeping herself clean."

Luke almost understood what she meant.

Monroe is Lindsay's "quagmire," or more precisely, the scandal.

Aurora looked at him. "There are many boys around Lindsay. There are so many boys in college, rich or poor, powerful or powerless. Who are we to interfere? No one. Except for Monroe, we have never interfered with her freedom to make friends."

Luke listened quietly, and what Aurora said still rings true.

She smiled bitterly and said, "But who is this Monroe? He took more than $100,000 from Lindsay several times, so I became suspicious of him. Just a casual investigation revealed that he abused drugs, and the drugs he took were not weed, but powder. Tell me, can I let my daughter be in contact with such a man and give him money to buy drugs endlessly?"

Luke couldn't argue with that.

If this happened to Claire, he would have wanted to disappear from the face of the earth.

Once people get involved in gambling and drugs, they basically lose their bottom line.

When the addiction strikes, it will not recognize anyone.

No one wants their loved ones to have close ties with such people.

Aurora: "Our relationship with her is very fragile now. Jeffrey asked me not to do anything for the time being, but how can I do nothing? She is my daughter. I have watched her grow from a toddler to a beautiful young girl. She has always been a treasure in my heart. So I can only ask you to help me."

Luke pondered for a moment and said, "Aurora, I am a young man and an outsider. There is nothing I can do about this."

Aurora said, "I know, but you are at least a normal person. No, you are a very good child. Your grades in high school are not bad, and you work hard after you start working, and you have a very good reputation..."

At this point, she noticed Luke's strange look.

Aurora paused, smiled bitterly and apologized, "I'm sorry, Luke. You know that Monroe's incident has made us nervous, so I still did some basic research on you, but it was limited to your resume in the police station. I didn't mean to pry into your privacy."

Luke still believed this.

If we really investigate him in detail, I'm afraid this lady would not say this.

Compared to the drug-addicted artist, a young man who killed hundreds of armed gangsters in more than a year could not be considered normal.

After all, NYPD is not LAPD, and will not record his past achievements in detail. Dustin has found a way to hide that information.

Unless ordinary people have advanced permissions of lapd, they cannot see the details of his past achievements.

But his expression became serious: “Aurora, I can understand your feelings, but that doesn’t mean I can accept others investigating me at will.”

Aurora looked a little embarrassed. She just said it casually, and these words that shouldn't have been said came out of her mouth for no reason.

She didn't know why, but the longer she talked to the young man, the more she liked him and the less wary she became of him.

She raised her hand and said, "Ok, I promise, I will never do this again. Please forgive me for my impatience this time."
