Blossom in Adversity

Chapter 58: A face

Views:

The old lady was carried over on a sedan chair by four strong women. Hearing her low cough, Hua Zhi deliberately slowed down her pace so that her grandmother could cough more comfortably.

She waited until the coughing subsided before coming over, "Grandma, let's go over there. It's almost time."

Wiping her mouth, the old lady nodded slightly, "Okay."

The sedan chair was carried all the way to the corridor outside the school, where the maid had already placed three chairs there, one a little further away.

Hua Zhi explained softly, "I won't go in to disturb them. The children will be distracted, and the second and third sisters will be nervous. I have also called Mr. Mu. I am not good enough to judge others."

"You are just too modest."

After sending away all the maids and old women, Mr. Mu walked out from another school, bowed to the old lady, and sat down on a chair farther away.

Because I was close, I could hear the voices clearly. Not to mention the content of the speech, the stuttering, pauses, repetitions, unstable breathing, and nervousness were obvious. If I listened carefully to the content, it was basically just reciting from a script, without any understanding of my own.

Mr. Mu looked at the eldest girl's back. Without comparison, he didn't feel anything. With the eldest girl as a role model, the other two girls of the Hua family were far inferior.

The old lady's original expectations all turned into disappointment. Seeing her granddaughter's indifferent expression out of the corner of her eye, she couldn't help but think that she was too greedy. It was not enough to have one outstanding person, she also wanted other people in the family to be like her. Zhier must have known what she was thinking, so she cooperated with her without any complaints.

But I just can’t accept it!

No matter what they were thinking, the three of them did not leave early. They waited until no more sound was heard, and then the two girls hurriedly ran out.

Seeing the three people sitting there, Hua Ling and Hua Xin blushed. Faced with their grandmother's helplessness, Hua Zhi's unwillingness, and Mr. Mu's embarrassment, they wished there was a hole in the ground so they could crawl into it and never come out again.

They didn't understand. They were doing well at home and even trained with their maids. Why did it become like this when the real thing happened? The boys sitting below were all young brothers and they clearly didn't feel scared!

The old lady covered her hand with her hand and coughed softly a few times, then stood up with the help of Nanny Su's hand. Hua Zhi hurriedly supported her other side.

"Mr. Mu, I'm sorry to have embarrassed you."

Mr. Mu bowed hurriedly and said, "It is my honor. Other girls don't have the courage to stand on the podium."

The old lady felt more comfortable after being comforted by these words. After sitting on the sedan chair, she leaned towards Mr. Mu and then looked at Hua Zhi, "I'll go first."

"I don't need to. You can go and have a rest first."

Patting her hands, the old lady sighed. Nanny Su, receiving the eldest girl's signal, hurriedly ordered the sturdy old woman to lift the sedan chair and leave.

After watching the group walk out of the yard, Mr. Mu went back to the school first. Hua Zhi was worried that the children in the small class would be uneasy, so she ignored Hua Xin and Hua Ling and went into another room.

As expected, none of the children were reading seriously. They seemed to have lost some energy and spirit. When they saw her appear, they sat up straight and looked at her eagerly.

Some of the brave ones couldn't help but ask, "Eldest sister, will the second and third sisters be our husbands from now on?"

Someone started it, and the others followed suit: "Eldest sister, we all like you, please continue to be our teacher."

"Eldest sister, I understand what you said, but I don't understand what the second and third sisters said."

"Big sister, I will grow up quickly and be able to help you when I grow up. Please don't ignore us."

"Eldest sister, let's just call you sir from now on. If we call you sir, you won't be able to run away."

"Eldest sister..."

Hua Zhi was extremely soft-hearted. She didn't mean to use these children to test their love for her, nor did she think of using them to attack her second and third sisters. But it was her fault that the children were so uneasy. It was caused by her lack of consideration.

She raised her hand and pressed down, and the classroom soon quieted down. Hua Zhi softened her tone and said, "It's the eldest sister's fault for not telling you clearly in advance. The second and third sisters are not here to be teachers, but just to try to see what they still lack. Now they know, and they may come again when they have made up for their shortcomings. By then, you need to treat them as you treat me."

"Will the second and third sisters be able to speak as well as the eldest sister in the future?"

"Of course, they will when they come again."

The children immediately looked as if they had realized what was going on, and smiles appeared on their faces again.

Hua Zhi didn't think they were easy to fool, because they believed what she said because she was the one saying it. The children in the Hua family are very smart.

"My eldest sister has to go take care of something now. You guys should read some books and practice calligraphy first. Don't disturb the brothers next door. Do you understand?"

"Yes, elder sister."

Hua Xin and Hua Ling were still in the corridor, and Hua Zhi was not surprised to see them.

"Eldest sister."

"If you don't want to, you don't have to do the formalities. I don't care about this." Hua Zhi saw the two of them looking up in surprise, as if they didn't expect her to say such a thing. She didn't want to talk about life and reason with them, so she said directly: "You go back, I'll go see grandma."

Hua Zhi walked past the two of them and Hua Ling's subdued but still sharp voice came from behind, "Eldest sister, you are very happy, aren't you? Because our stupidity makes you stand out more. Grandmother will only value you more in the future!"

Hua Zhi turned around, her expression still indifferent, "What can I get by valuing me? The Hua family? You want the Hua family, which can only scrape out such a small amount of money but has to support hundreds of people? Don't blame others for being stupid. This is not something imposed on you by others. You know how much of the so-called talent and reputation is added by the surname of the Hua family."

"Even if you have the bonus of a surname, it would still be a reputation for talent, but you don't even have that!"

"Ah, yes, I didn't, and then what? What do you want to prove? Are you better than me? Are you more knowledgeable than me? That's good, but what benefit does it bring to the Hua family? Those who praise you have never said a word of concern to you." Hua Zhi was never afraid of hurting others. She hated people who had no self-awareness and who were too arrogant.

"You..." Hua Ling felt a pain in her chest due to the words she spoke, and tears streamed down her face.

"If I want to fight back, I'll go back and read more books. If I can't read, I'll go embroider. Just think of it as embroidering my dowry in advance."

Hua Ling and Hua Xin stared at Hua Zhi as she walked away in amazement. Is this person really Hua Zhi? How is this possible

Mr. Mu in the room felt both amused and troubled. If sisters want to argue, they should not do it here. Look at those guys, their faces are twitching from trying to hold back their laughter, especially Hua Bailin. What is there to be proud of!

Hua Bailin was really proud, this was his eldest sister, his!

In the past, everyone in the family praised the second and third sisters, saying how talented they were. But what happened? They were nothing compared to his sister! They couldn't even talk as well as her!

In the words of my eldest sister: the fighting power is too weak!

PS: I updated two chapters together. I went out for something today and just got home. The girls haven’t been very enthusiastic these two days.
