Bring A Magic Wand to The American Comics

Chapter 223: The Farmer and the Snake

In the empty alley, a figure flashed by. It walked out of the darkness, but after taking a few steps, it suddenly stopped and looked back.

"These two damn guys actually followed me all the way here."

Macaulay looked back at the darkness of the night and spotted two vague figures about fifty meters away.

Thanks to his special ability, his eyeballs have a focusing ability far beyond that of ordinary people. They can enlarge the pupils to allow more light to enter the photosensitive nerves at the bottom of the eyes, thereby gaining night vision.

"Hey, can you guys move aside for a moment? I need to go to the bathroom here!" Macaulay put his hands to his mouth and was about to shout loudly.

But he soon discovered that the sound he made was as small as that of a mosquito.

"Damn it!"

Although he didn't understand what was going on, he could guess that it was the work of the two people behind him, so after a moment of shock, he turned around and continued to move forward.

"Hey, he doesn't seem to be cooperating..." Spider-Man flew beside Lynn, complaining about the disobedient bait.

"No wonder he is just an apprentice superhero. His awareness is far behind our real New York good neighbor Spider-Man." Lynn retracted his wand and joked.

He had just cast a hushing spell on Macaulay to prevent him from making too much noise.

"You said, we have been tracking for a long time, but still haven't seen the killer return. Could it be that we guessed the direction wrong?" Spider-Man ignored Lin En's teasing.

"It's not impossible. The murderer may have changed his target. In that case, we can split up into two groups. I'll stay here and wait for the murderer to come back, and you go find the next super-powered person on the list. Let's make preparations for both situations." Lin En nodded.

"Hey, why don't I stay here while you go find someone?"

"Because I think our previous inference is correct. The murderer will most likely come back." Lin En snapped his fingers.

"Okay then, I'll hold on for a while."

"Shh, look, there seems to be some movement there—" Before Spider-Man could finish his words, Lynn stopped him immediately and signaled him to pay attention to Macaulay.

In the distant streets, Macaulay was walking, alternating between shallow and deep steps, his shadow stretched out long under the street lights.

And just at the corner, there was a beggar standing there, curled up against a lamppost, seemingly having no interest in passers-by.

"Oh, poor old fellow." Macaulay was a compassionate guy. When he saw the old beggar, he thought of his own days as a worker, when he also had to sleep in the open air and often went hungry. So his heart softened and he walked up to him.

"There's a very good bakery in front. You can try it. Their rye beer is also very popular. You can have a great night." Macaulay said to himself while throwing money into the box in front of the beggar.

“Thank you… Thank you…” The old beggar opened his eyes, and after seeing that someone was doing him a good deed, he straightened up from his leaning position, bowed and nodded.

"Good luck to you." Macaulay felt relieved.

He turned around and continued walking forward, and his complaints about the two guys behind him also eased a little.

But he had not walked for long when he suddenly felt someone running towards him from behind. He was startled and turned back quickly, only to find that it was a false alarm.

A hooded man passed by him, running very hastily as if he was running for his life.

This made him very suspicious, wondering if the mysterious person who tried to assassinate him today had appeared again.

Just when he was nervous and sensitive, a helpless curse came from behind him.

It's that old beggar.

"These damn street gangs, they stole all my money! Go to hell!"

The curse sounded somewhat pitiful and helpless, and immediately aroused Macaulay's passion for bravery.

So he immediately aimed at the direction the man had run, adjusted his own state, and immediately chased after him.

"Let's go!" Behind him, two people hiding deeper in the room immediately followed. They felt that the murderer was most likely the person who had just run away.

But the other party was very cunning. In just a blink of an eye, he ran into the slums next to him and disappeared into the night and the maze of streets.

This naturally stimulated Macaulay Duncan. He could not sit idly by and watch someone robbed right under his nose.

So he almost forgot what Linn and Spider-Man had told him, and started running, trying to catch up with the robber.

But the other party was very cunning. He seemed to be very familiar with the terrain nearby and soon went farther and farther away.

"Stop! You scum of society!" Macaulay became even more enthusiastic. He fully flexed his leg and buttocks muscles, exerting all his strength, and soon he chased into the slums like a flash of smoke.

Because the streets were narrow, some randomly placed items were knocked to the ground by the panicked robbers, and Macaulay had to move carefully through them.

Not only that, before he had gone far, he saw an old man who had been knocked down by a robber.

He looked very innocent, maybe he had just finished dinner and went out for a walk, but he was knocked over by the robber.

"What the hell!" Macaulay stopped quickly to help the old man.

"Are you okay? Let me lend you a hand. Did you see where that person ran to?"

However, the old man did not say much, but gestured laboriously on himself.

"Oh, poor old man, he's so scared..." Macaulay squatted down, ready to help the old man up.

But what he didn't expect was that something unexpected happened at this moment.

The fallen old man suddenly stretched out his gesturing hand to his chest, took out something like a launcher, and then shot it at Macaulay's heart.

"Damn it!" No matter how stupid and naive Macaulay was, he had already realized that he had fallen into a trap.

But it was too late. He suddenly felt the same seasonal movement in his chest again, and he couldn't stop it. His heart suddenly tightened, which made him extremely panicked.

Damn it, aren't there two guys following me? Come and save them...

At this moment, Macaulay was extremely anxious and began to regret leaving those two people too far behind.

But what he didn't know was that this was exactly what Lynn and Spider-Man did on purpose.

This is to ensure that the murderer in the dark is captured as well.

So, just as Macaulay slowly fell to the ground with his mouth open, Lynn's long-overdue curse finally arrived.

"Everyone is petrified!"

Lynn used two petrification spells in a row, one of which could make the murderer surrender, and the other could stop Macaulay's heart from continuing to contract and save his life.

The murderer thought he had succeeded, but his smile froze before he could even smile.
