Daily Life at Hogwarts

Chapter 194: A bad omen

Views:

Since the last promotion of the Wizard Card Club, more Hogwarts students have known about the game Wizard Card. Some students even expressed their hope to have cards exclusive to their own colleges, and were willing to join the Wizard Card Club to help Albert design new cards.

This is conducive to the promotion of Wizard Cards. As long as Wizard Cards enters other colleges, the number of players will surely increase gradually. Albert believes that it will not be long before more and more students will like this card game that is easy to learn, has a variety of gameplay, and can freely design various strategies.

Currently, the biggest problem with The Wizard card is the number of players. As long as everyone is playing The Wizard card, others will surely be curious and follow suit. Albert believes that the charm of The Wizard card itself can conquer everyone.

However, the design and manufacture of cards was still a hassle. Although Fred, George and Lee Jordan helped him as much as possible, Albert still had to do it himself most of the time.

Having said that, there are still a lot of things I need to worry about.

The design and manufacture of wizard cards, magic training and homework for various courses, frequent correspondence with other wizards, weekly routine of borrowing books from the library, and the research on improving the protective bracelet is still ongoing. There is no progress in the research on using ancient magic runes to cast spells. There are manuscripts written for "Transfiguration Today", academic research in the Spell Club, and occasionally I will take time to practice the Patronus Charm and look for books related to brain occlusion in the restricted area.

Filch was still brooding over what happened last semester, so he stepped up the night patrols in the castle at the start of the school term. Snape would occasionally help with the patrols, which made Albert give up the idea of visiting the restricted area late at night.

He didn't want to be the next unlucky guy caught on a night out. By the way, Gryffindor, who was deducted 50 points, was directly at the bottom of the list.

If we have to say what good thing has happened recently, it would probably be Albert's small breakthrough in ancient magic runes!

Professor Bathsheda Barbling is indeed an expert in this field and has a high level of attainment in the field of ancient magic runes.

Every Tuesday afternoon, Albert would attend Professor Barbling's ancient magic rune improvement class, and would stay after class to discuss ancient magic runes with Professor Barbling.

Not long ago, they studied, analyzed and discussed McDougal's "Complete Solution of Basic Rune" and "Advanced Rune Research" together, and Albert's rune experience also increased dramatically as a result.

Now, Albert's magic experience has reached more than half of level two.

Although Professor Babel is the magic professor at Hogwarts, she does not actually live in the castle and has only five classes a week. The ancient magic class has only four students, two Ravenclaws, one Slytherin, one Hufflepuff, and Albert who comes to visit.

Originally, Ancient Magic was an elective course for third graders, and even fewer students were able to pass the OWLS with good grades. Some students were not necessarily willing to attend the advanced class even if they met the requirements, which directly resulted in only two or three students in the advanced class for this course.

Of course, Ancient Magic was not the worst, and Muggle Studies simply did not offer advanced classes.

As long as you can pass the OWLS Muggle Studies Certificate, you can work as a Muggle liaison officer in the Ministry of Magic.

As for the advanced classes for Divination, Mathematical Divination and Care of Magical Creatures, the number of students is also pitifully small. Moreover, even fewer people can really learn anything from the advanced classes and put it to use after graduation.

After graduating from school, it is common to find a career that does not match your major.

After the bell rang, the students said hello to each other and left.

Albert did not leave. He would stay and continue his last communication with Professor Babeling.

"How do you feel?" Professor Barbling asked gently. This is the advantage of being an excellent student. The relationship between the two is actually quite good.

"It's okay. The content covered in class isn't that difficult. I've mastered most of it." Albert said as he flipped through his notes.

"You should have reached the level of a newt." Professor Barbie said softly. Although some people have the talent to learn ancient magic runes, Albert's talent was also surprising to Professor Barbie at first.

"It's less difficult than I thought," said Albert.

"Newt is not really that difficult." Professor Babel explained, "What is difficult is how to go further in this area after graduating from Hogwarts. We have only learned the tip of the iceberg. After all, there are only a few people who study it in depth like Mr. McDougal."

Albert nodded in agreement. This was evident from the fact that few people could fully understand Advanced Magical Research.

Footsteps were heard outside the corridor of the ancient classroom on the sixth floor, and then someone knocked on the door.

Isobel pushed open the door and walked in. She was also good at ancient magic runes, and because of McDougal's relationship, Professor Barbour allowed her to participate in this extra communication outside of class.

Professor Barbling waved her wand, and the students' favorite snacks and biscuits appeared on the table. This was not a serious class, but a conversation in a good atmosphere.

Sitting on the comfortable sofa and enjoying afternoon tea, Professor Barbling was a little tired after two consecutive classes.

The topic started after the three of them finished their first cup of afternoon tea.

"The topic we are studying today is Runestone divination."

"I remember that there seemed to be a divination class in the third grade, and it seemed to teach how to use rune stones for divination?" Albert looked up at Isobel and asked, "Did you choose the divination class?"

However, after Albert saw the change in the other person's expression, he had already guessed the answer. Apparently, this Ravenclaw genius was very similar to Professor McGonagall and thought that taking the Divination class was a sheer waste of effort.

"I don't have that kind of talent." Isobel took a sip from the teacup, glanced at Albert and said lightly: "Maybe, you will have it."

"Sybill is good at this, and I specially invited her here." Professor Babel saw that the two did not seem to be very interested in Runestone divination, so she said, "Runestone divination is an ancient British divination technique. It is said to be very accurate, but there are not many wizards who really know how to interpret Runestone divination. Fortunately, Sybill has done some research in this area."

Albert couldn't help but roll his eyes when he heard this, and said after a simple wording, "I heard... divination requires talent, and only a small number of people have such a talent."

As far as he knew, most students would choose Divination class purely to get by, and they didn't care whether they could get good grades in OWLS.

After graduation, there are almost no wizards who can engage in divination. After all, a fortune teller who has no predictive ability is no different from a liar, and no one will welcome such a liar.

Sybill Trelawney does have the ability to predict the future, but her ability is uncontrollable, and she cannot use a crystal ball to predict the future like other fortune tellers do, directly seeing certain fragments of the prophecy.

"Sybill should have such ability." Professor Babel was not too sure. She knew that her friend had the ability to predict the future. After all, she was the great-great-granddaughter of the famous fortune teller Cassandra Trelawney, and the ability to predict the future was often passed down through blood.

As the three were chatting about ancient magic, rune stones and magic runes, the door of the ancient magic classroom was knocked again, and the person they were talking about appeared outside the door.

This was the first time Albert had come into close contact with Sybill Trelawney.

She was a very thin woman, wearing a pair of big glasses and with a bunch of chains and beads hanging around her neck. She looked a little crazy, maybe she just didn't want people to know her background.

"Oh, Bathsildda, I hope I'm not late." Trelawney poked her head into the classroom and her eyes fell on Albert and Isobel.

"I mentioned it to you." Professor Babling smiled and invited Professor Trelawney into the classroom. The two of them did have a good relationship. "We are studying Runestone Divination. I think you can definitely help a lot in this area. After all, you are an expert in this area."

"Oh, Runestone divination, this is an ancient science, and there are very few wizards who are really good at this kind of divination now." Trelawney walked in, sat next to Professor Babel, and took out an exquisite bag from her pocket. "... Now, I will only briefly mention it in the divination class. Predicting the future from tea dregs and crystal balls is easier for most students. At least they can find the answer by comparing it with the books. Of course, students without the talent of "third eye" can only do this in this subject."

Professor Trelawney was not wrong. Divination requires talent. Without talent and the inability to make predictions, one will only be regarded as a liar and will not receive any respect.

Trelawney opened the exquisite bag and poured out the rune stones inside. She reached out and gently stroked the symbols on it. She said "thank you" to Professor Babel who brought the black tea to her. She continued: "Each symbol on the rune stone tells the story and mystery contained in the ancient text symbols... It can also be used to seek the desired results."

Albert bit a biscuit and listened quietly to Trelawney's nagging, and smiled at Isobel, who drank tea frequently. The latter seemed a little anxious and she obviously didn't believe Trelawney's nonsense.

"Hold the bag of rune stones in your palm, and silently recite your questions. You also need to meditate." Trelawney nags as she puts the rune stones back into the bag. "Remember, stay detached, follow your instincts and feel the guidance of natural forces. Then take a rune stone from the bag and place it in your palm."

Albert and Isobel looked at each other, and could see the corners of each other's mouth twitching, but neither of them said anything.

"Why not test it? Who of you goes first?" said Professor Babeling.

"Ladies first!" Albert made a please gesture to Isobel.

"No, you first." Isobel actually didn't believe in this prophecy.

"Okay!" Albert took the bag of rune stones, silently recited the question in his mind, and then meditated quietly, trying to keep his mind as empty as possible.

He reached into his bag and pulled out the Runestone, placing it on his palm.

"What's your problem?" Trelawney asked.

"Future fortune." Albert said without hesitation.

"I think you are very talented in divination." Trelawney walked to Albert and said suddenly.

"Thank you." Albert responded politely.

"It's positive Fehu." Trelawney glanced at the runestone on Albert's palm with a strange expression. "Fehu itself represents wealth and symbolizes material gain. It means that you have good fortune in wealth. It represents a certain form of success. As long as you hold on to what you have in your hands, you can succeed and overcome the difficulties you encounter during the process."

"I have always had good fortune," Albert said, not knowing whether to give the answer or not. He put the Runestone back into the bag and handed it to Isobel.

"I wonder if I will get into trouble in the near future?" Isobel asked her question calmly, then took out a runestone from her bag.

"Reverse Eihwaz." Trelawney glanced at the Runestone in Isobel's hand. "This is a very clear warning, warning you to be careful... This is not a good sign."
