Daily Life at Hogwarts

Chapter 28: Marmite

Views:

Near noon, the Hogwarts Castle, which had been silent all night, regained new life.

Albert occasionally met other students in the corridors or hallways. It can only be said that staying in bed is the nature of most people, especially on weekends. When there is no need to get up early, most people prefer to sleep a little longer.

It was still drizzling outside the castle. Most students stayed in the auditorium chatting, and the very few unlucky ones who had not completed their homework on time were busy copying their summer homework.

While exploring the castle, the Weasley twins and Lee Jordan couldn't hold on any longer and ran away first.

However, Albert still spent a whole morning touring the huge castle and took many interesting photos with his camera. After the tour, when he returned to the auditorium, he felt a dull pain in his calf.

The trip was quite fruitful. Albert used his memory to draw a rough map of the castle.

Although he heard from others that the positions of some stairs in Hogwarts Castle would change every Friday, that would be next Friday, and Albert didn't take it to heart, as he knew he would naturally find a solution when the time came.

It is worth mentioning that the progress of the task of exploring Hogwarts Castle has reached 26.7%.

"Why are you here alone? Where are your friends?" Angelina and another girl came over, sat on the chairs opposite Albert, and greeted Albert.

"They ran away halfway through the castle tour." Albert picked up a piece of bread from the plate and prepared to make a sandwich for himself. "Those three guys must have found something interesting. Give me the blueberry jam over there. Thank you."

"How's your castle map going? Can you lend it to me to take a look?" Angelina pushed the bottle of blueberry jam over to her right hand and pointed at the parchment on Albert's left hand.

"I still think that I should go around the castle by myself. This is one of the pleasures of being a freshman." Albert handed the parchment to the girl opposite him and took the bottle of blueberry jam.

"What is that?" Alia leaned forward and stared at the simple sketch, frowning slightly. It was a bit difficult for her to see, but she could still see some markings of secret passages and classrooms, and which stairs needed to be climbed.

"By the way, this is our class schedule." Albert copied two more copies of the class schedule and handed them to the two people opposite him.

"What kind of magic is that?" Angelina asked curiously.

"The cloning spell can turn one item into two." Arya, who was born in a wizard family, recognized the spell used by Albert at a glance.

Not all wizarding families adopt a laissez-faire policy like the Weasleys. Arya has received a good wizarding education since she was a child, and her starting point is higher than that of most students.

"It's a very useful little trick, isn't it?" Albert winked at the two of them and continued, "With it, you don't have to take notes. All you have to do is "borrow" a copy from someone else."

Alia looked at Albert with strange eyes, always feeling that this guy's thinking logic was different from others.

"Can you get me a copy? That way I don't have to worry about finding my place in the classroom."

"Aren't you worried that the map might be drawn wrong?" Albert asked.

"Of course I'll check it myself," Alia said matter-of-factly.

"Do you want it?" Albert looked at Angelina.

"Thank you." Angelina said with a smile.

Hogwarts Castle is indeed quite large and it is easy for freshmen to get lost. But with Albert’s map, at least they know where to go.

Being late on the first day of school is never a good sign.

"By the way, I remember you seem to be from a Muggle family." Arya put away the map and asked, "How do you know so many spells? I dare say that most freshmen don't know as many spells as you do."

"I learned it when I was practicing spells before school started. Most of the spells are quite simple." Albert spread blueberry jam on the bread and took a big bite. Although it tasted good, it was a bit unbearable to eat the same thing all day long.

"Simple?" The two looked at each other and suddenly felt an inexplicable pressure.

After getting their own wands, most freshmen would try to use the magic in the books. Angelina and Alia were no exception. They all learned some simple magic, but it was not as easy as Albert said. His tone was as if learning magic was as easy as eating a piece of bread.

After finishing the slice of bread with blueberry jam, Albert made himself a sandwich.

British lunch is always unsatisfactory, and Hogwarts is no exception. Bread and potatoes are always the staple food here.

This lunch includes bread slices, boiled potatoes, fresh vegetable salad, salty ham, and of course, a large pot of milk tea or pumpkin juice.

After Albert finished his ham sandwich, he put two potatoes with skins on his plate. After wandering around the castle for a whole morning, he was already starving.

By the way, during dinner time, the three people were nowhere to be seen, and no one knew where they went.

"I really miss rice and pasta." Albert muttered softly and continued to finish the potatoes with skin on the plate.

Potatoes are one of the staple foods of the British. He has eaten them almost every day in recent years. People in this country can even make a hundred unique dishes with potatoes.

Although potatoes are not bad to eat, it is a bit unbearable to eat them every day.

"The pasta is delicious," Angelina agreed. "I've eaten it several times. The taste is very nostalgic."

"British food is always disappointing, and the variety is too good. The chefs here never seriously study how to cook." Albert poured himself a cup of milk tea, took a sip, and complained, "I remember eating a plate of sea salt and herb bread crust roasted whole fish a while ago."

The two looked at each other, listening with interest as Albert complained about all kinds of weird British food, such as his father's favorite French fries sandwiches and his grandmother's favorite Marmite...

Albert still remembers the first time he tasted Marmite. It tasted like... hell. The taste was truly unforgettable.

If I have to describe it, it should be a strong smell of soy sauce mixed with various body odors.

From then on, Albert stayed away from Marmite.

"If any of you are interested, I'll send her a bottle as a Christmas gift at Christmas."

"Ahem." Alia lost her appetite immediately. "No, thank you. I want to eat something normal so that I won't get sick when I see jam in the future."

Finished the milk tea and ended the lunch.

Albert sat at the dining table and looked through the photos he had taken earlier, including a knight's armor, a castle landscape, a portrait, or a rather exaggerated sculpture... These photos revealed a corner of Hogwarts.

However, when Angelina saw Albert selecting photos, she really wanted to complain that he was not a student here to study, but more like a tourist visiting Hogwarts Castle.
