"I don't understand, I really don't understand, what is going on!"
Lee Jordan, who had just left the divination classroom, looked very anxious.
This divination class didn't teach them anything useful. Most of the time, Professor Trelawney asked them to use the fifth and sixth pages of the book "Seeing the Future Through the Mist" to interpret the shape of tea leaves.
Later, Professor Trelawney interpreted Fred's cup as the worst omen - the omen of death!
This made Lee Jordan very uncomfortable because he was responsible for interpreting Fred's cup.
"You are not taking this seriously, are you?" Albert could feel the depressing atmosphere around him and suddenly said.
Several roommates stopped and looked at Albert.
"As far as I know, Professor Sybill Trelawney has predicted the death of a student every year since she came to this school." Albert stated the fact calmly, "Foreseeing the signs of death is her favorite way to welcome new students."
"Is it like this every year?" Fred couldn't help but ask.
"Yes, it's like this every year." Albert patted Fred on the shoulder and said, "So far, none of them have died."
"Looks like you don't have to die." George smiled and put his arm around his brother's shoulders.
"Yeah, that's great." Fred couldn't help but sigh, "To be honest, I was also shocked by Professor Trelawney's prediction."
"But... the prophecy..." Lee Jordan was still struggling with this matter.
"Of course the prophecy is false. I doubt that Professor Trelawney can predict the future at all. At least, she can't predict the future directly like those fortune tellers. Otherwise, she would definitely show us her predictive ability in class. Nothing would be more convincing than doing that."
"Then what about your prediction?" Lee Jordan asked, still unwilling to give up.
"Of course it's a trick." Albert noticed that there were a bunch of people eavesdropping nearby, and curled his lips and said, "Ever since Harry Potter came to Hogwarts, and Headmaster Dumbledore has secretly set up a restricted area in the castle, I always feel that something bad might happen."
"You guy, I thought..." Lee Jordan stared at Albert in amazement. He knew he had been deceived again.
"We've been together for two years, and you still don't understand Albert!" George looked like he was asking, "Are you still one of us?"
"Albert still needs a prophecy?" Fred said jokingly, "He doesn't need one. If he really wants to make a prediction, he can just speak it out. I guarantee it will be more accurate than a prediction."
The twins looked at each other and couldn't help laughing.
That's right, in the eyes of the Weasley brothers, Albert's words are more accurate than prophecies.
As for Professor Trelawney's death prediction, it was most likely her way of welcoming new students. For such things, you could just ask someone and you would know whether it was true or not.
As for whether Albert can make a prediction, Fred and George are more inclined to believe that this guy should be able to do so.
There was no way, his mouth had already said a lot of things. Another thing was that Albert didn't like to let too many people know some things, such as whether he could tell fortunes. Maybe Albert didn't mind telling them these things in private, but asking in public was deliberately provoking trouble.
Moreover, this guy likes to tell some truths, some lies, and some half-truths, making it impossible for people to figure out which ones are true and which ones are lies.
Fred and George never asked about private matters in front of everyone. Even if they did, it was purely joking.
If you want to know something, just ask it privately when you get back to the dormitory at night.
Only Lee Jordan's stiff head couldn't turn around for a while.
Fred and George both gave Lee Jordan a look that told him to shut up, and then changed the subject.
"There's a Transfiguration class next, and Magical Creatures and Potions in the afternoon. These few days are so packed with classes. It's really hard."
"Your math divination just skipped out like that." George frowned and asked as they passed through the empty corridor.
"No, I've already asked my clone to go to class. Okay, don't ask me how I did it. This needs to be kept secret." Albert took out his pocket watch to check the time, and said as he walked into the boys' bathroom next door, "Wait for me a moment."
Albert gently pushed the door of the compartment and found that it was locked. He knocked three times gently, and the door of the compartment also heard three knocks. Albert turned and walked into the compartment next to him. Just when he closed the door, the locked door opened, and Albert walked out with a tired face.
As for the compartment whose door had just been locked, Albert was taking out the time converter from his leather bag, putting it around his neck, and then turning the time converter once.
Albert felt as if time was going backwards rapidly and something seemed to be knocking in his ears. The next moment, he felt solid ground under his feet and everything came into focus again.
After putting away the time converter and taking out the pocket watch from his pocket to check the time, Albert quickly walked out of the boys' bathroom and prepared to go to the mathematical divination class.
"By the way, the arithmetic divination class seems to be in classroom 7A on the eighth floor." Albert muttered to himself, "Oh, I have to travel a long way again, it's really hard."
Arithmancy is a branch of arithmetic that deals with the mysterious relationship between many events and their simultaneous occurrence.
Albert had read Wake Field's book "Numerology and Patterns" during the summer vacation. It was not very friendly to most wizards who had not really studied mathematics.
These things reminded him of a book called "The Kabbalah Numeric Code", which is a Jewish secret divination technique, commonly known as "numerology".
In Albert's view, the field of arithmetic in the magical world is equivalent to a mixture of probability calculations and a bunch of very strange things.
If that's the case, then it might explain why curse breakers need to be proficient at this stuff.
This would allow them to assess the success rate of breaking a spell without actually performing it, which meant they could minimize the risk of a spell breaking failure.
When Albert appeared on the fourth floor of the castle through a shortcut and was about to go to the eighth floor through other secret passages, he happened to see the two unlucky guys who talked back to Filch, Ron Weasley from the red-haired Weasley family, and the other one was... the famous Harry Potter.
"Red-haired Weasley, humph, don't think I don't know what you are planning. Students are forbidden to go to the restricted corridor on the fourth floor."
As Albert approached, he heard Filch's angry voice.
"Lost. I don't believe you would be so lucky as to get lost in the restricted area on the fourth floor."
Soon, Albert saw a man walking over there. It was Professor Quirrell. He was probably going to check the protection checkpoint and happened to rescue the two unlucky guys who were lost.
"If I see you trying to get lost and enter the restricted area again," Filch threatened the two men who had escaped with an angry look on his face. "I'll put you in solitary confinement. Maybe a day in the dungeon will help clear your heads."
When Harry and Ron passed the corner, they found Albert standing there, looking at them with a smile.
"You're worthy of being Weasley. Are you planning to visit the restricted area of the school on the first day of school?" Albert said softly to Ron.
"No, we're just lost," Ron argued.
"We're just trying to find the Charms classroom," Harry muttered.
"Then go ahead. Go straight from this side and you'll be there soon after passing through the armored corridor." Albert said softly, "If you get lost, it's best to ask someone for directions instead of wandering around the school by yourself. That's what only brainless people would do. Believe me, many people will be willing to lead the way for you, Potter, as long as you ask."
Harry and Ron trotted in the direction Albert pointed.
"Do you know him?" Harry asked quietly.
"Fred and George invited him to our house this summer, and Dad and Mom like him very much," Ron said dryly. "It is said that he is a great genius."
"But why did he say that?" Harry couldn't help asking.
"Fred and George like to act up in school, and he probably thought I would be like them." Ron felt a little depressed when talking about this. He suddenly knew why Filch targeted them. It was probably related to Fred and George.
Albert didn't know what Harry and Ron talked about. He finally took a shortcut and arrived at the Arithmancy classroom before class.
The teacher of this course is Professor Victor, who explains to them what Arithmancy is in class.
… refers to a supposed form of divination based on assigning numerical values to words or phrases. Although this may seem contradictory at first glance, arithmetic employs a more rigorous and mathematical approach to predicting the future.
Well, this is actually the original words in "Numerology and Graphics".
“… Mathematical divination requires rigorous logic.” Professor Victor said to the students who were listening with their heads swelling. “You can’t make up things. Don’t think you can deal with me by just filling in a bunch of numbers in your homework.”
Next, Professor Victor asked them to look at the densely packed numbers on the blackboard and began to teach them how to do mathematical divination.
Except for a few Muggle-born students such as Shanna and Albert, most of the students in the class frowned and listened to the class attentively.
There is no other way. It is undoubtedly very difficult for a group of students who have not even mastered the four basic operations to learn mathematical divination.
However, Albert understood it easily. Well, the content was probability calculation.
"Okay, do the remaining questions. If you haven't finished any in this class, take them home and do them. This is today's homework." Professor Victor said to the students in the class.
"You don't do it?"
Shanna raised her eyebrows and asked, she didn't think Albert didn't understand.
Albert pointed to the table on his parchment. He had finished the calculation.
It's very simple, and you can get the answer in just a few steps.
"How come you were able to calculate it so quickly!"
Katrina felt incredible. She had just noticed that Albert hardly did any calculations, but he quickly calculated the numbers on Professor Victor's blackboard and filled them on the parchment.
"I have studied advanced mathematics," Albert said casually.
Compared with advanced mathematics, current arithmetic divination is indeed very simple.
It is undeniable that in this regard, Muggle wizards have far more advantages than wizards born in wizard families. After all, they all went to school when they were young, learned mathematics to some extent, and were exposed to the four arithmetic operations.
Professor Victor walked over here, picked up the parchment on the table, and glanced at the numbers in the table.
All are correct.
Professor Victor looked at Albert in surprise. She had heard of Albert's deeds before, but when she taught him in person, she truly understood why other professors evaluated him that way.
"Look, Mr. Anderson has finished the calculations, and they are all correct. Gryffindor gets 10 points." After Professor Victor finished speaking, he leaned over and said to Albert, "After class, you stay for a while. I have something to tell you."
Arithmancy was indeed difficult for many students. Apart from Shanna, even Katrina, who was concentrating on calculations, failed to finish the calculations before the get out of class ended.
This huge gap hit Katrina hard.
After Albert came out of the classroom, Katrina wanted to say something, but Shanna spoke first.
"What does Professor Victor want you to do?" Shanna asked curiously.
"Professor Victor asked me to attend the advanced class whenever I am free."
"Advanced class? I heard that the advanced class only recruits the smartest students. I heard from other seniors that it seems to be called Advanced Arithmancy Research. The classroom is on the first floor of the castle." Shanna suddenly asked, "Can I go to class with you?"
"I don't care." Albert shrugged.
"How did you do it? I mean, how did you learn it so quickly? Is there any trick?" Katrina finally couldn't help but ask.
"You think it's difficult because you haven't learned mathematics." Albert said honestly, "Arithmancy is very similar to the probability calculation of Muggles. If you have learned this knowledge, you will find it very simple to learn Arithmancy now."
Katrina glared at Albert fiercely and turned away. She didn't want to talk to that guy, it was too irritating.
