Chapter 55: Two feet

Views:

Originally, Fred and George wanted to make a last-ditch effort, but they failed to master the Descaling Charm in one night. Of course, what made them give up completely was Albert's words: Filch may not allow you to use magic.

The next day, in the Charms class, Professor Flitwick checked everyone's practice. Compared with the Gryffindor students, only a few Hufflepuff students successfully mastered the Luminous Charm.

Professor Flitwick took five minutes to review what was taught in the previous lesson, and then began to talk about the counter-spell of the Luminous Charm, the Extinguishing Charm.

"The Extinguishing Charm can not only be used to extinguish the glowing charms on the wand, it can also extinguish ordinary light sources." Professor Flitwick pointed to a candle on the table, picked up the wand and tapped it lightly, "Knox."

The candle flame went out, as if it had been snuffed out by someone's hand.

"As you can see, the spell for the Extinguishing Spell is Nox, and this spell is also suitable for extinguishing burning flames."

"Lumos." After Professor Flitwick finished chanting the spell, a pale light appeared on the tip of the wand. "Knox." After the spell professor chanted again, the light on the wand disappeared again.

After Professor Flitwick finished explaining the Extinguishing Charm in class, he left the remaining time for everyone to practice spells.

"Luminescent flicker... Knox." Albert succeeded after trying several times. In order to further verify the effect of the spell, he also turned himself into a candle, lit it, and began to try to extinguish the flame on the candle.

"I succeeded too." Lee Jordan was in a good mood. After practicing for more than a dozen times, he successfully extinguished the light on the wand with the spell, and then he followed Albert's example to extinguish the candle flame.

According to Professor Flitwick, extinguishing a raging fire is more difficult than extinguishing a glowing charm.

"How annoying!" Fred was still trying to master the Glowing Charm. Not only him, but some students in the class were the same.

In the end, only three people succeeded in extinguishing the light on their wands, and Diggory from Hufflepuff was one of them.

Before the end of the Charms class, Professor Flitwick assigned everyone a new homework: to write a paper report on the Luminous Charm and the Extinguishing Charm. It needed to be at least two feet long and was due before class on the Monday after next.

George muttered under his breath, "Two feet long, Professor Flitwick must be crazy!"

For young wizards who had basically never written a paper, or even touched a quill, writing a two-foot-long parchment was a difficult challenge. Even finding a bunch of words to fill a two-foot-long parchment was not easy.

"Actually, this kind of paper report is very simple." Albert glanced at George, looking surprised. "You just need to copy down the origins of the Luminous Charm and the Extinguishing Charm, then write some questions about the problems you encountered when learning the Luminous Charm, then go to the library to find some knowledge about this and copy it down, and finally write a summary report or something. It's almost unreadable if it's two feet long.

In fact, Albert knew very well that Professor Flitwick did not expect the freshmen's first homework to be very good.

To put it bluntly, the purpose of this paper is to make everyone more familiar with the Luminous Charm and the Lights Extinguishing Charm, and to deepen everyone's understanding and application of spells.

In his previous life, Albert had written a lot of similar stuff when he was in college. Although it has been a long time, he still has some understanding of it.

"Is it that simple?" Li Qiaodan widened his eyes in disbelief.

“So easy?” Alia glared at him and said sarcastically, “Once you start writing, you’ll find it’s not that easy. But thanks to Albert, now I know what to write on that two-foot-long parchment.”

Halfway through, when a few people were discussing the homework for this spells class, a discordant voice suddenly rang out.

"Are you sure what he said is correct?" a Hufflepuff student interrupted in a strange tone.

"At least, it sounds much more reliable, doesn't it..." Fred and George looked at each other, walked to the Hufflepuff student, and each of them put their arms around the man's arm and said, "Perhaps Albert has received a little hint from Professor Flitwick."

"Let me go." The Hufflepuff student struggled hard, but failed to break free from the Weasley twins and was held firmly by the two.

"Oh, okay, don't be nervous." Fred let go of the other person, reached out and patted him on the shoulder twice, and watched the guy run to the Hufflepuff team, and couldn't help but smile triumphantly.

"Stop it," Diggory warned the twins with a glare.

"We didn't do anything, Diggory. We just had a simple conversation with him." The twins put their arms around each other's shoulders and said, "We didn't do anything, but who knew he would suddenly become so nervous."

"Okay, let me go." Digory also looked helpless. He certainly knew that the twins' friendly way of communication did not mean any ill will to him, but others did not think so.

"He looks scared by you." Li Jordan couldn't help but whisper.

"Don't talk nonsense, we didn't scare him. Be careful or you'll be sued for defamation." Fred and George looked as if we didn't do anything and he just scared himself.

In fact, they did nothing at all.

Albert was amused and suddenly wanted to laugh. However, he felt that there was nothing wrong with the twins' actions. After all, they did nothing wrong and it was just the other party's misunderstanding.

"By the way, when will we have flying lessons?" Angelina suddenly asked.

"I'm not sure. I heard that Gryffindor freshmen will be notified on the bulletin board in the lounge on Thursday afternoon when they have flying lessons." Fred thought for a moment and said, "Charlie is recruiting substitute players recently. If you like Quidditch, you can go and have a try. Substitute players have the opportunity to use flying brooms, but if you want to become a regular player, you need to rely on yourself."

"When?" Angelina asked with her eyes shining.

George said without hesitation: "You can go to the Quidditch field this afternoon and talk to Charlie."

"You're not really going to join the Quidditch team!" Alicia looked at her roommate in surprise.

"Well, I want to try it."

"There's another Transfiguration class later." Shanna muttered softly, "I hope Professor McGonagall won't give us any more homework."

However, everyone is destined to be disappointed.

Even if Professor McGonagall didn't give them homework, they still had to continue practicing Transfiguration.

However, Professor McGonagall said that she would check their progress in turning matches into needles next week. If the matches still cannot be transformed, someone will probably be in trouble.
