Chapter 63: Reference and citation

After returning to the Gryffindor common room, Albert made himself a cup of milk tea and asked his roommates again if they wanted to go to the library together to do homework for the Charms class. After being rejected again, he packed his schoolbag and went to the library after the three of them waved goodbye.

During class time, there were not many people in the library. Albert walked into the library and saw Shanna flipping through books to find information. He walked towards the girl, gently pulled out a chair and sat down, and whispered, "I hope I'm not late?"

Albert arrived on time, it was exactly 2 o'clock.

"No, the homework for the Charms class is a bit difficult, and I didn't find much useful information." There were a few books next to Shanna. She had arrived half an hour early, but still didn't find any useful information.

Albert flipped through several thick books on the table, shook his head, and directly asked Shanna to go to area C and look for the books she needed from the fifth row of bookshelves.

By the way, the "Selected Nineteenth Century Spells" that I borrowed last time has not been returned yet.

However, I have almost finished reading the book "Selected Nineteenth Century Spells". It is better to finish it quickly and take it away. After all, the borrowing time is almost up.

Albert took out the "Achievement of Spells" he had found from the bookshelf and handed it to Sana next to him. The young witch looked at the book Albert handed to her in surprise.

Soon, Albert took out the "Selected Eighteenth Century Spells" he was looking for, and returned to the desk with Sana.

"How do you know that this book contains what we are looking for?" Sana was surprised to find that the two books chosen by Albert contained the information they were looking for. Then she felt depressed, wondering what was the point of her hard work in finding the information.

"The book 'Magic Spells Achievement' is actually very useful, at least when dealing with written tests." Albert explained, "The Luminous Spell was invented in the eighteenth century, so you should be able to find relevant information in the 'Eighteenth Century Magic Spell Selection'."

"Your brain is so sharp, why didn't you go to Ravenclaw?" Shanna asked puzzledly.

"Who knows?" Albert shrugged and whispered, "Maybe the Sorting Hat thinks I'll be better off in Gryffindor."

After finding the information, the next step is actually very simple, which is to copy down the appropriate sentences:

For example, the Luminous Charm was invented in the 18th century (1772) by a witch called Levina Monk Stanley, who was the Keeper of the Unspoken Department of Mysteries at the Ministry of Magic.

The discovery of the Wand Glowing Charm: One day, while Levina was looking for her lost quill in a dusty corner, she lit up the end of her wand, which surprised her colleagues. They all thought the spell was very useful and wrote it down...

It's just a bunch of nonsense, just excerpts anyway.

For some reason, Albert suddenly missed the copy and paste function on his computer, and he didn't know if magic could do that.

If this is possible, it will be much easier to write papers in the future.

"well!"

Albert sighed softly, then came to his senses and realized that he had been distracted and had written the wrong word. He couldn't help feeling a little upset.

He crossed out the wrong words, dipped his quill into the ink bottle, and continued copying. In fact, the content of the paper was very simple, just copying "Spell Achievement" and "Selected Eighteenth Century Spells", and then wrote down some problems he encountered when practicing the luminous spell, and then wrote down the methods to solve the problems.

Albert found that after writing all these contents, they had occupied a large section of parchment. Sana, who was still flipping through a book next to him, looked stunned.

"What's wrong with you?" Albert asked in confusion.

"You..." Shannah pointed to the parchment.

"Want to read it?" Albert didn't mind and handed the parchment to Shanna. He flipped through the content of the Extinguishing Spell. The Extinguishing Spell was not in the "Selected Spells of the Eighteenth Century". However, Albert still found relevant records in "Spell Achievements" and then found related books on the bookshelf and continued to copy them.

Sana looked at her own short article, and then looked at Albert's neat and well-planned paper, and suddenly felt a strong sense of frustration.

It turns out that a paper can be written like this!

Shanna also knew that most of the content in this paper was copied from a book, but so what.

Albert said this is called reference and quotation.

If I squeeze it myself, I probably won’t be able to squeeze out a 3-inch paper.

It took Albert an hour and a half to finish writing the paper on the wand glowing spell and the extinguishing spell.

Although half of the paper was plagiarized, many of them were based on the various problems and solutions Albert encountered when learning spells. The final summary was Albert's in-depth exploration of spells, such as being able to make the light at one end of the wand leave the wand and store the light of the glow spell. Or, using the extinguishing spell to control the surrounding lights.

Then... combine the two to create a Lights Putter.

Bah, that’s the concept of the magic lamp. If we can use the Lights Extinguishing Charm and the Glowing Charm to create a magic lamp with the effect of a Muggle electric lamp, wizards will no longer need to use oil lamps!

These were the last ideas left, and they were just some concepts. Albert wrote them down in his paper because he actually wanted to rely on Professor Flitwick to help him complete them.

After all, Professor Flitwick was an expert in spells, and perhaps some ingenuity in this area would appeal to his interest.

The magic lamp's mission is not yet complete!

"How about?" After Albert waited for the ink on the parchment to dry, he used the copying spell to make a copy and handed it to Sana. He pointed at some places and told her to write according to her own experience. As for the information that everyone can find, she would naturally insert it into the paper as an introduction and polishing according to her own ideas, which would make it appear more advanced.

"I thought it would take a long time to write!" Shannah said with emotion as she looked at her parchment.

Now, she somewhat understood why Albert had said that he wrote this paper in order to deepen his understanding of the Luminous Charm and the Extinguishing Charm.

This is indeed the case.

From looking for information, to copying sentences from books, to writing papers. At least, she knew when the spell was invented, who invented it, what impact it had, who improved and innovated it, what problems she encountered when practicing the spell, how to solve them, and her prospects for the Luminous Spell...

Anyway, after writing all these things, it will definitely exceed three inches, so there is no need to worry about not being able to write that many numbers.

And, most importantly, if you don’t understand the Luminous Charm and the Extinguishing Charm, you really won’t be able to write these things.
