Chapter 66: Bowtruckle tree protector

As soon as they approached Hagrid's hut, Fang rushed over and circled around them. Albert squatted down, rubbed his head with his hand, and scratched his chin, which made Fang calm down.

Hagrid had already opened the wooden door of the room and invited everyone in.

There was only one room in the cottage. Hams and roasted pheasants were hung from the ceiling. On the fireplace stood a copper kettle, but the fire had long gone out. In the corner stood a large bed with a patchwork quilt.

Hagrid picked up a pink umbrella in the corner and lit a fire, then hung a copper kettle of water over it to boil, apparently preparing to make them tea.

While doing these things, he did not forget to turn around and say to the three people: "Next time, if I see you sneaking into the woods again, I will hand you over to Professor McGonagall. She will definitely make sure you dare not enter the woods again."

"We are just curious... what is in the forest." George muttered softly, "Why did Dumbledore forbid students to enter the forest?"

"There are wild beasts in the woods, and magical creatures that are dangerous to you." Hagrid explained to them impatiently, "Dumbledore forbade you to enter the woods for a reason. It is too dangerous for you now."

"Hagrid, be careful not to let the Bowtruckles fall into the fireplace. They seem to be afraid of fire." Albert changed the subject.

"Oh!" Hegla opened a chair and sat down, putting the Bowtruckle on the table, taking out the herbs from the cabinet next to him, chewing them, and applying them to the wound of the Bowtruckle. He also used some small wooden boards to fix and bandage the Bowtruckle, and tied it with unicorn's tail hair.

However, this was a delicate job for Hagrid, but he still completed it very seriously.

However, the bandaged Bowtruckle didn't seem to appreciate it and was a little annoyed by the small wooden board on its body.

"I'm not very good at this kind of delicate work." Hagrid said to everyone after dealing with the Bowtruckle. "The hands and feet of the Bowtruckle are very delicate and can be easily injured and broken."

The kettle started to sound, and Hagrid poured boiling water into a large teapot, pouring each of them a cup of amber tea, with a plate of rough, irregular biscuits beside it.

"This is dittany," Albert asked, picking up the plant that Hagrid was chewing.

"Well, Dittany is the simplest and most effective plant I can find. I specially asked Professor Sprout for some. It is very suitable for treating the injuries of most animals." Hagrid took a sip of hot tea, ate a few biscuits, and began to enthusiastically introduce to everyone how to raise Bowtruckles.

Hagrid took out a wooden box with something similar to brown rice in it. He said to them, "Feed this to the Bowtruckles. It will make them feel better."

"Hagrid, what is this?" Albert grabbed a handful and handed it to two Bowtruckles that were trying to get rid of the bandages. They immediately stopped struggling and pounced on it to eat.

"A bug," said Hagrid. "A bug that Bowtruckles like to eat. Fairy eggs, too, of course."

Fred and Lee Jordan both try to feed a Bowtruckle, while George struggles with a biscuit.

Albert saw with his own eyes that George picked up a small biscuit and put it in his mouth. After taking a few bites, he found that he couldn't bite it. So he reached out to take the biscuit out of his mouth, and looked at it in front of his eyes, as if he suspected that what he had just bitten was not a biscuit, but a stone.

Seeing this, Albert wanted to laugh a little, and he didn't want to touch the biscuits at all. This kind of biscuit might be just right for Hagrid's teeth, but it was quite hard on Albert and the others.

"Hagrid, what are they for?" asked Fred, pointing at the Bowtruckle.

"What's the use?" Hagrid thought for a moment and replied, Bowtruckles are the best forest rangers, the trees where they live will grow particularly lush, and the wood of these trees is usually suitable for making wands.

"If one day you want to take leaves or wood from a tree guarded by a Bowtruckle, it's best to give them some earthworms or fairy eggs as a comfort. Otherwise, be careful of their sharp claws. There have been cases of people being blinded by Bowtruckles before."

"Would you like some?" Hagrid asked puzzledly, noticing that the men had hardly touched their biscuits.

"No, it's almost dinner time." Albert argued. He took out his pocket watch and looked at the time. "I think we should go back to the castle so as not to miss dinner time."

"That's right." Hagrid suddenly remembered something and said to Albert, "The dead tree trunk outside is from a mountain pear tree..."

"Thank you, Hagrid!" Albert immediately thanked him. "I'll cut off a small piece and take it back later."

"Do you need my help?" Hagrid liked the polite child in front of him. Because of his appearance, many students were afraid of him, and few were willing to chat with him.

"No need!" Albert drew out his wand, pointed at the dead tree and said, "Shatter into pieces."

"Is that enough?"

"I can't take more." Albert used the cutting spell to cut a small section of the tree trunk for himself. "I may need some in the future."

"Then I'll leave it behind the house and you'll need to get it yourself." Hagrid nodded.

"Goodbye, Hagrid." Albert picked up a small piece of tree trunk and called the other three roommates to walk towards the castle together.

"What do you want this for?" Li Jordan asked puzzledly.

"You will know later." Albert smiled and looked at the three people and asked, "How is the forest?"

"It's similar to the woods near my home." Fred winked at Albert and said, "We entered the woods from the other side. Unexpectedly, we met Hagrid dragging a dead tree trunk. He probably went into the woods to help you get the rowan tree."

"So, you were caught by Hagrid?" Albert wanted to laugh. He felt that the three of them had really bad luck.

"I dare say they are lying to us. There are no dangerous creatures in the woods," George complained.

Albert thought to himself, if you had encountered it, it would have probably been taken away and eaten, so why would you bother to gossip here

Albert asked in return: "You said... why did they deceive the students?"

Fred curled his lips and said, "Percy said there are many dangerous beasts in the woods, but in fact not many people have actually seen those beasts."

"Actually, you need to change your mindset." Albert reminded, "Why doesn't Dumbledore allow students to enter the forest?"

"What secrets do you think are hidden in the forest?" Li Qiaodan's eyes lit up when he heard this.

"That's possible, of course there are other possibilities." Albert continued to analyze for the three people, "There should be many magical creatures living in the depths of the Forbidden Forest. Didn't Hagrid say there are unicorns in the Forbidden Forest? These magical creatures are dangerous to us, and going too deep into the Forbidden Forest will cause students to get lost."
