Chapter 789: Gryffindors never lack courage

"Going to Hagrid's to catch mice?"

Both Harry and Ron found this matter a bit puzzling. Although they both knew that there were indeed a lot of mice in Hagrid's hut, they still felt that there was something strange about this matter.

"Would you like to go together later?"

Hermione picked up Crookshanks and placed him on her knees. She took out the comb that Albert had given her for Christmas from her robe pocket and used it to comb the cat's fur. She then asked Harry and Ron about this.

"Well, we haven't been to Hagrid's for a long time." Harry turned his head and asked Ron, "Want to go together?"

"Of course." Ron nodded.

Ever since Buckbeak's escape, the three of them never went to Hagrid's place again to avoid suspicion.

Now that Buckbeak's incident happened a long time ago, no one should be paying special attention to it now. This is a good opportunity to ask Hagrid what happened.

The three of them were always curious about how Albert made Buckbeak disappear out of thin air and where he hid the Hippogriff.

Hermione also asked Professor McGonagall, however, the Vanishing Charm obviously couldn't do it to that extent, at least not Professor McGonagall.

After a brief discussion, the three decided to go find Hagrid after dinner, so that they wouldn't have time to eat because of catching mice. It would not be fun to be hungry at night.

Hermione found Albert who was eating, "Want to go find Hagrid together?"

"I have something else to do, I'll come over later." Albert gave Lee Jordan, who wanted to say something, a look to shut up and continued eating.

After Harry and the other two had gone far away, Albert turned his head and asked Lee Jordan, "How is your Patronus Charm going?"

"It's done," Lee Jordan said, puffing out his chest with pride.

Fred and George joked, "It must be an orangutan!"

"Yes, it's the gorilla." Lee Jordan was a little depressed. Albert's guess was always right.

"Just barely caught up," Albert muttered.

"Catch up with what?" Lee Jordan asked puzzled.

"Are we going to start the last plan?" George asked in a low voice. He thought that it might be because of this incident that Albert asked Lee Jordan whether he had mastered the Patronus Charm.

"When does it start?" Fred was not stupid. After being reminded by George, he immediately guessed what it was about.

"Later." Albert said.

"Later?" Lee Jordan was still a little confused and didn't know what was going on. Was the plan to capture the black dog Blake about to begin

"You think that guy's hiding with Hagrid now?"

George was the most attentive of the three and realized at once what Albert had said: Peter Pettigrew's Animagus might be a rat.

It was obvious where the valuable old mouse was hiding.

So, Albert asked Hermione to take the cat to Hagrid, intending to use the cat named K-something to force Peter Pettigrew out.

Then, by using the mouse Peter to lure the black dog Blake, they can catch them all in one fell swoop.

But, does this really work

This idea was quickly suppressed by the three of them. Albert was very shrewd and never did anything without confidence. Just look at the incident of the Hippogriff escaping a while ago.

"I remember Professor Lupin seemed..." Fred said in a low voice.

"Today is a full moon," Albert reminded.

At this time, Professor Lupin was probably in his office, waiting to get through the painful stage of turning into a werewolf.

"Well, we're even!"

The three of them looked at each other and nodded to show that they understood.

In fact, Fred, George and Lee Jordan were all wrong. It was not that their predictions were in line with Albert's, but that Albert intended to turn the predictions into reality.

"Go back and prepare first. Use this to keep an eye on Harry and the other two. Now is not the time for us to make an appearance."

"Where are you going?" George asked in confusion as he took the parchment and three strange badges. "And what is this?"

"This thing can block the tracking of the Marauder's Map."

"I was wondering why I couldn't find Albert's meeting place before. It turns out this guy knew how to block the Marauder's Map a long time ago." George put the map in his pocket and distributed the badges to Fred and Lee Jordan.

Albert planned to go find Professor Lupin, give him a hint, and talk about restoring the werewolf curse.

When he knocked on the door of the Defense Against the Dark Arts office, Professor Lupin was sitting behind his desk enjoying his dinner.

"Is there something wrong? Mr. Anderson." Lupin was surprised that someone came to see him now.

"Well, there's something." Albert looked at Professor Lupin, whose face was slightly pale, and said straight to the point: "Professor, have you heard of the human form restoration spell

"What kind of magic is that?" Lupin looked at Albert in confusion. He had realized that the other party came to him at this time obviously for other things.

Albert introduced calmly: "A spell that can help werewolves return to human form."

Professor Lupin's face turned ugly in an instant. He knew what Albert meant by this. The other party obviously knew his identity as a werewolf. But he soon felt relieved. Albert was too smart. It was not difficult to guess this just by observing the time when he asked for leave. The other party might have come to persuade him to resign early for this reason last time.

"Does such a spell really exist?" Lupin put down his fork and asked gently, "I still haven't heard of a similar spell, otherwise werewolves wouldn't be so frightening to everyone."

"Gilderoy Lockhart mentioned the Reincarnation Charm in Wandering with Werewolves."

"It's just a novel, and I heard..." Lupin finally didn't say that Gilderoy Lockhart was a liar in front of Albert.

However, Albert had no such estimate and shrugged his shoulders and said, “Yes, he is a liar who likes to turn other people’s stories into his own stories.”

Lupin was so shocked by Albert's shocking words that he opened his mouth and didn't know what to say for a moment.

"The Human-Restoration Charm did exist. An old Armenian wizard once used it to deal with the Wagga Wagga werewolves in Australia." Albert looked at the stunned Professor Lupin and continued, "But, because of Lockhart, a large part of the old wizard's memory was cleared, and now he has become a little stupid."

"So, the spell has been lost." Lupin felt that Gilderoy Lockhart had brought such a fate upon himself.

"I guess so. Last year I got the old wizard's notes from Lockhart and recreated the spell, but I haven't tested its effects on werewolves." Albert explained the reason why he came here.

Lupin was silent. He finally understood why Albert came to him now. He was going to use him as an experiment!

Although Lupin didn't like this kind of thing, he didn't immediately reject Albert's proposal. He knew the importance of the human-recovery spell, which was really important to werewolves.

If it really works, it could render dangerous werewolves harmless.

As for the wolfsbane potion, that thing is too expensive and werewolves simply can't afford it.

At this moment, someone knocked on the door of the Defense Against the Dark Arts office, interrupting their brief conversation.

"Come in," Lupin called out.

The door opened and Snape walked in, holding a steaming goblet in his hand. When he saw Albert, he couldn't help but narrow his eyes.

"Ah, thank you, Severus." Lupin smiled at Snape. "Put it on the desk, okay?"

Snape put down the steaming cup, his eyes moved back and forth between Albert and Lupin, pursed his lips, and said softly: "You should drink it directly, Lupin."

"I will drink it after dinner," said Lupin.

"If I were you, I wouldn't stay here for too long." Snape reminded Albert as he left the room, "I think you know the reason."

Seeing the door closed again, Albert retracted his gaze, glanced at the goblet that Snape brought to Professor Lupin, and said softly, "Wolfsbane potion, if you drink too much of this stuff, it will be harmful to your body, and your life span will be slightly shortened?"

"You knew?" Lupin asked curiously.

"Of course I know. I was involved in the improvement of wolfsbane potion." Albert said unbelievably calmly, "This thing was too expensive and too difficult to make at first, so basically no one paid attention to it. After several generations of improvements, it became what it is now. The price has been reduced by more than half, and it is easier to make. The effect is also quite objective. However, the potion is quite toxic and will have a bad effect on the body."

Although wolfsbane potion can make werewolves harmless and keep them sane, the potion itself is poisonous.

As the person who improved the wolfsbane potion, Albert was naturally very clear about this matter. Drinking too much of this stuff would be harmful to the body. What's more, this stuff was too expensive.

"Oh, I almost forgot, you are also the champion of the magic school potions competition." Lupin's expression quickly returned to normal. He now finally understood why many professors supported Albert so much.

"But, to be honest, this stuff tastes really bad." Professor Lupin couldn't help but complain.

"Because this thing was not originally meant to be drunk." Albert said in a strange tone, "This thing is used to get the Order of Merlin. How many werewolves can really afford such an expensive potion? Even if it is an improved wolfsbane potion, the price is still not affordable for ordinary people."

"You're right." Lupin nodded, feeling that what Albert said made a lot of sense. He suddenly asked, "What about the restoration spell?"

"That is a very complicated spell, and it is also magic that belongs to the advanced field of transfiguration." Albert said calmly: "Let me be honest. Many friends think that I should take this opportunity to get the Order of Merlin."

Or is it for the Order of Merlin

Lupin was silent.

However, he actually didn't think there was anything wrong with this.

"What an overly mature student."

Lupin, who was sitting behind his desk, couldn't help but smile bitterly. In fact, he had no reason to refuse, and his intuition told him that he should agree to Albert's suggestion, even though the other party was clearly going for the Medal of Sir Merlin. But this was very real, and the importance of the Human Form Restoration Spell could not be denied.

"Are you going to try that spell on me now?" Professor Lupin asked rhetorically.

"Of course not now. I won't take the risk." Albert stood up and said, "Wait until the summer vacation. If you are willing to help, you can treat it as a job. I will pay you a lot of Galleons."

It was normal for Lupin to hesitate, after all, he was using himself as a test subject, even though Albert said that even if the spell failed, it would not harm anyone, and was willing to give out a large sum of Galleons to thank him for his cooperation.

"If you are willing to help, I can tell you another secret I discovered a while ago, a secret that may be related to Black." Seeing that Lupin didn't speak, Albert said mysteriously.

"What secret?" Lupin agreed.

"I've seen the name Peter in Hogwarts Castle before." Albert said shockingly.

"What."

Lupin stood up in surprise.

"That thing is actually very useful. You confiscated Potter's Marauder's Map, probably because you didn't want him to seek revenge on Black!" Albert looked at the Marauder's Map that Lupin had placed next to him with a half-smile, and before Lupin spoke, he said, "Before the Marauder's Map was given to Harry, I used it. I have also seen the name Peter in school. As far as I know, Black once blew up a wizard named Peter."

"Thank you," Lupin said gratefully.

"You're welcome."

After Albert turned and left, Lupin didn't bother to eat. He picked up the Marauder's Map and carefully searched for the name Peter in the castle, but he didn't find Peter's name among the many names.

Peter has left Hogwarts

That shouldn't be the case. If Black was still blocking him outside, he would never be able to escape from the castle.

As Lupin slumped back into his chair, he saw Harry, Ron, and Hermione sneaking out of the castle and going to Hagrid's hunting lodge.

Professor Lupin frowned, stared at the Marauder's Map in his hand, and checked it again. He didn't think Albert would deceive him or play tricks on him, because there was no need for that, and he would never do that.

I must have missed something.

What will it be

Lupin regretted not asking clearly just now. He felt that Albert must know some secrets.

"If Peter is really still alive..." Lupin's heart was very conflicted. He knew he had to do something. Maybe he should confess everything to Dumbledore.

However, Lupin was afraid that if Dumbledore knew that he had failed him, the guilt would completely consume him.

"Be brave, you should be brave Lupin, don't run away anymore."

Lupin slapped himself in the face and muttered, "Harry already has no family, he can't lose his godfather again.

Lupin decided to wait until tomorrow when he recovered and then go find Albert. The other party must know something. He must find out whether Peter is really still alive, and then go find Dumbledore and confess what he knows. Only Dumbledore can help Black get out of the predicament.
