The potion written test on Monday was simpler than Albert had expected. Most of the questions on the test paper required candidates to describe certain potion ingredients or potions.
For example: Describe the properties of moonstone and its uses in medicine.
The potion practical exam in the afternoon was even easier, because their beloved Professor Snape was not wandering around the exam room, and no one was watching them brew potions like a ghost behind their backs, and no one would deliberately create psychological pressure on them.
Most students were more relaxed than usual when brewing potions, and even Fred and George no longer looked as if they were facing a serious enemy.
Albert dared to say that after this Potions exam, many students would think that their previous unsatisfactory Potions results were mostly due to Snape.
When the invigilator, Professor Marchbank, said, "Please leave your crucibles, the exam is over," Albert quickly glanced at the label on the stopper of the narrow-necked bottle containing the vitality tonic and left the examination room with the other students.
"It should be no problem to pass the exam this time." Fred excitedly announced the good news to his three roommates. He and George had both practiced brewing vitality tonics, so the practical exam in the afternoon did not cause them much trouble. If the written test in the morning was better, they might have a chance to get a "good" score.
"Thanks to Albert."
George suspected that Albert was secretly helping them pass the Owls Potions exam. Otherwise, given his and Fred's level of potions, it would be a bit difficult to pass the potions exam.
He still has this self-awareness.
"We're finally free!" Lee Jordan stretched lazily and suggested with a smile, "Let's go back and have a drink to celebrate in advance."
"There are still four exams left!" Angelina raised her eyebrows.
"Forget about Divination, History of Magic, Astronomy and Care of Magical Creatures. Who really cares about that stuff?" Lee Jordan didn't care about the remaining exams, and he expressed the thoughts of many candidates.
The divination class is rubbish in the eyes of many students. Maybe a few students like divination, but the only student who can really do it is Albert. So what if he gets excellent in the OWLS exam
History of Magic is hated by almost all students. This is related to their History of Magic professor, Cuthbert Binns, whose classes are always boring.
To date, in the past hundred years of the British wizarding world, there has only been one relatively famous historian, Bathilda Bagshot, the author of "A History of Magic".
Astronomy is a relatively important course and has been taught since the first grade. However, in everyone’s mind, this course is as good as non-existent because it has little sense of existence and no one knows what the point of learning it is. Students have never really taken it seriously at all.
Since Hagrid took over the Care of Magical Creatures course, this course has not been very popular. Many people doubt whether they can learn useful knowledge from the Care of Magical Creatures course, and dealing with those magical creatures is very dangerous, Professor Kettlebur is the best example.
"The professors' advanced classes require you to achieve at least a good grade. You can't just take one or two advanced classes and then start slacking off next semester." Shanna reminded, "Be careful that Professor McGonagall will ask you to repeat the year and retake the exam."
"No." Fred shrugged. "In fact, I think it's enough to take two or three courses in the sixth and seventh grades. This way we have enough time to prepare for graduation."
Fred and George didn't think much of it. They were not in a hurry to drop out of school to open a shop. They planned to follow Albert's suggestion and make the magic joke shop famous in school first. By the way, they would learn from Albert and accumulate experience to make more interesting props.
They had seen Albert's so-called "semi-finished products", and most of the things in that box were good stuff.
As long as it is slightly improved, it will definitely sell well.
Of course, everyone was more concerned about tomorrow's Care of Magical Creatures practical exam, and no one really cared about the nonsense that Fred and the others said.
The next day's Care of Magical Creatures practical test was held on the grass at the edge of the Forbidden Forest. Three tents had been set up there, and everyone was told to remain silent while waiting and to enter the tents in order to take the Care of Magical Creatures practical test.
Albert was naturally the first student to take the practical test. When he pushed aside the tent curtain and walked in, he saw that the tent was divided into three areas. Professor Marchbank was sitting behind a long table in the middle of the tent. He pointed to a nest of hedgehogs on the ground on the right and said, "There is a hedgehog among the group of hedgehogs. You need to accurately identify which one is the hedgehog."
Albert glanced at the pile of miscellaneous items beside him, all of which were things that might be useful. He quickly found milk in a bottle and conjured a bottle out of thin air. After putting on dragon leather gloves, he began to feed the hedgehogs.
Albert soon discovered that all the spines of one of the hedgehogs stood up.
"It's just a prick," said Albert to Professor Marchbank.
Thorns are very suspicious animals. When they think someone wants to poison them, the magical thorns on their bodies will stand up.
"Very good." After Professor Marchbank made the bottle disappear, he pointed to the tree in the tent and continued to describe to Albert the test questions he needed to complete.
"There are some Bowtruckles out there. You need to show me how to touch a Bowtruckle properly, and you need to get me a leaf from the tree."
Albert walked to the tree, looked at the somewhat nervous Bowtruckle on the tree, and recalled the information about this creature in his mind:
To take leaves or wood from a Bowtruckle's tree, you need to give it some Woodlice or Fairy Eggs in exchange.
When Albert was looking for milk just now, he noticed some earthworms on the table. He quickly took some earthworms from the table and gave some to the bowtruckles on the tree to lower their vigilance. Then he pointed to the leaves on the tree and shook the earthworms in his hand, indicating that he wanted to exchange them for a leaf.
In fact, the course on protecting magical creatures not only tests everyone’s understanding of basic theories, but also tests their patience and love for magical creatures.
If you don't have enough patience to deal with these little guys, you might end up messing things up.
"Very good." Professor Marchbank looked at the leaf in his hand, pointed to the circled area and said, "You still need to show me how to feed and clean the fire crab."
The so-called fire crab is actually a magical creature that looks like a turtle and has jewels of different colors on its shell.
Fire crabs are very valuable, and their shells can be made into high-quality crucibles after they die. Of course, most wizards don't have the patience to wait for them to die, so they kill them directly, so they are protected by the Ministry of Magic and have special protection areas on the beach. In addition, fire crabs can also be sold to other wizards as pets, but Albert suspects that ordinary wizards will not buy this thing at all.
Albert thinks this thing should be called a fire turtle. It is called a fire crab probably because its legs are like crabs and it can only walk sideways. When this creature thinks it is being attacked, its tail will spit fire, and it is easy to get burned if you are not careful.
This is also the area where you should be most vigilant when feeding and cleaning fire crabs.
However, as long as you don't deliberately irritate the fire crab, you don't have to worry about getting burned. As for cleaning, you can easily bind it by casting a full-body binding spell on it, and then complete the cleaning of the fire crab without any danger.
As for what will happen after the fire crab is freed from the spell, it doesn't matter to him. Maybe they have other fire crabs prepared.
After leaving the tent, Albert ran to the hunting lodge to chat with Hagrid and observe the situation of the other candidates.
As expected, many students suffered, with burn marks on their bodies. Fire crabs are not easy to mess with, and Hagrid basically didn't teach them any useful knowledge this semester, so it was normal for them to be frustrated by fire crabs.
"How did you do on the test?" Hagrid asked in a low voice, sounding a little guilty.
"It's okay, but the fire crabs have never been handled before. I think many students will complain that you didn't explain how to feed and clean the fire crabs." Albert was helpless. Hagrid had really let this class of fifth-grade students down.
Hagrid suddenly looked a little embarrassed, because he really hadn't taught them much useful knowledge this semester.
Fred and George had also come out. Both of them looked a little disheveled. Part of Fred's hair was burnt, while George's clothes were burnt and there were also burn marks on his hands.
"What the hell, why would anyone want to keep a dangerous pet like that?" Lee Jordan appeared, cursing. He not only had burns on his body, but also scratches on his hands from a Bowtruckle.
"Go to the school hospital and let Madam Pomfrey treat you. I guess many people will go back." Albert suggested.
"Why is it that nothing happened to you?" Fred complained indignantly. Among the candidates who entered the tent for the exam, only Albert had nothing happened.
"Who knows?"
As soon as they arrived at the entrance of the school hospital, they heard Madam Pomfrey's complaints. The unfortunate students who were burned were all coated with a layer of orange ointment.
"I really don't know how Charlie deals with fire dragons." George suddenly admired Charlie's choice.
