He said to Wang Shidao: "Looking up makes me high, drilling makes me strong, looking in front, and suddenly behind. Xiangshan is very good at tempting people. What Vimalakirti said is that Lu Jiuyuan's Great Way appears to be loftier the more you look up at it, and the more solid it appears to be when you study it. It seems to be in front, and suddenly it seems to be behind. He guided me step by step; first he told me the vast Dharma, and then he restrained me with the unchanging principles of the world. It is impossible for me to stop learning. I have exhausted all my talents, but his way is still outstanding in front of me. I want to pursue it again, but I always feel that there is no way to pursue it.
After saying these words, Vimalakirti gave up his anger.
After that, some immortal immortals went to see Lu Jiuyuan. Although they did not lose their way like Vimalakirti, they went to learn from Lu Jiuyuan, and finally died withered.
But without exception, these immortal immortals have never made any further progress in their lives, because they really can't erase the shadow left in their hearts after meeting Lu Jiuyuan, unless they abandon their own way and worship Lu Jiuyuan as their teacher.
