Wu Yugang asked eagerly, and the old monk smiled slightly and said, "Donor, don't worry. You can see that it's raining a lot outside. It seems that the benefactor and the Buddhist family have some fate. There are no other people here. Let's talk slowly."

Wu Yu felt a little shy just now and nodded. At this time, the little monk brought tea and put it on the table.

The old monk said: "Huikong, go ahead and do your business." The young monk nodded and left.

Wu Yugang asked: "Master, where are you from and do you know medical skills?"

The old monk smiled and said: "I know a little bit about medical skills, but when I talk about it, it becomes a long story."

Wu Yugang said modestly: "Since you know medical skills, can I communicate with you?"

The old monk said: "But it doesn't matter!" Wu Yugang replied politely: "Then I am all ears."

At this time, Wu Yugang felt that this old monk who became a monk was by no means an ordinary person, and the old monk felt that Wu Yugang was not an ordinary person either.

The old monk said: "When I was a child, my family was poor, and my parents starved to death at the foot of the Shaolin Temple. I was not yet one month old at that time, and was later adopted by the abbot of the Shaolin Temple. The abbot taught me literacy in his spare time, and sometimes taught me martial arts and some medical knowledge."

"What happened next?" Wu Yugang asked, feeling that it was not that simple.

The old monk said: "When I got older, I was caught secretly learning martial arts in a martial arts monastery. The abbot punished me to go to the Sutra Pavilion to clean and organize the Sutra Pavilion and copy scriptures. Here I read a lot of knowledge that is difficult to learn. "

"Then what have you learned?" Wu Yugang asked.

The old monk said: "Do you know medicine? I have studied a lot about medicine." Wu Yugang nodded.

The old monk asked: "You are a Chinese medicine practitioner. What do you understand about Chinese medicine?"

Wu Yugang said: "The most basic thing about traditional Chinese medicine is to treat diseases before they are sick. It means to teach people to learn to protect themselves and maintain health first, so as to achieve the goal of good health and not getting sick."

"Then why don't you keep in good health?" the old monk asked.

Wu Yugang said thoughtfully: "Isn't it just exercise?"

The old monk smiled and said, "Of course it is, but does Chinese medicine have a complete set of health-preserving techniques?"

Wu Yugang wondered: "It's hard to say!" The old monk said: "Buddhism has a complete set of exercises to maintain health and eliminate diseases, which can make people healthy. It is physical and mental exercise, not just what you call physical exercise?"

Wu Yugang asked in surprise: "What method is that?"

The old monk said: "Buddhist medicine first emphasizes health preservation, which is no different from traditional Chinese medicine. The methods of health preservation are much more complete. Buddhist health preservation talks about the five blessings, namely longevity, wealth, peace of mind, good virtue and a good death."

"What does this mean specifically?" Wu Yugang asked.

The old monk said: "Human diseases come from many factors, which are divided into inner factors and outer factors."

Wu Yugang interrupted and said: "Traditional Chinese medicine is also divided into internal causes and external causes. Internal causes refer to people's seven emotions, injuries and fatigue, and external causes include wind, cold and dampness."

The old monk said: "It's pretty much the same in this respect. But the treatment methods are different."

"What is Buddhism?" Wu Yugang asked.

"Buddhism is divided into physical diseases and mental diseases. Physical diseases are treated with the methods of physical diseases, and mental diseases are treated with the methods of heart diseases. The treatment of diseases caused by external factors is similar, but diseases that come from the human heart are difficult to prevent."

"Then how do you think diseases originating from the human heart can be prevented and treated?" Wu Yugang asked eagerly.

The old monk said: "Buddhism believes that people's greed, anger, stupidity and resentment lead to psychological diseases and affect people's physical health. And everyone knows how to prevent external diseases caused by external factors."

"Diseases caused by external factors can be easily prevented as long as people pay attention to their diet and living environment to prevent them." Wu Yugang added.

The old monk nodded with satisfaction and said: "To prevent people's mental illness, we need to get rid of worries to achieve peace of mind, so as to achieve the purpose of prevention."

Wu Yugang asked doubtfully: "Can troubles be eradicated?"

The old monk said: "There are many diseases that come from the human heart, but Buddhism has Buddhist prevention and treatment methods.

First, recite the Buddha's name and visualize the majesty of the Buddha to eliminate karmic obstacles and calm down into a state of concentration.

Second, use the mind-observation method to eliminate people's attachments, remove too many distracting thoughts in life, and make people peaceful and natural.

Third, see through the causal relationship between birth, old age, illness, and death, get rid of your own foolish obsessions, and achieve the goal of understanding cause and effect and achieving natural enlightenment.

Fourth, we must have a compassionate heart, be kind to ourselves and others, and not blame others, so as to calm down anger.

Fifth, the method of breath adjustment. Sitting quietly and adjusting the breath can make people feel calm and peaceful. By doing this, you can effectively prevent mental illness. "

Wu Yugang thought deeply: "It seems that Buddhist medicine and prevention and treatment are indeed comprehensive, which is hard to imagine."

The old monk asked Wu Yugang: "How do you maintain your health?"

Wu Yugang replied: "Master once taught me Wu Qin Xi, but it was very difficult and it was a Qigong exercise."

The old monk said: "The Five Animals and Five Elements Boxing are somewhat similar!" Wu Yugang nodded in agreement.

The old monk said: "The Five Elements Boxing in Shaolin Temple is practiced both internally and externally. Have you ever heard of it?"

Wu Yugang said: "I know a lot, but can you first tell me how Buddhism maintains health?"

The old monk said: "The most popular methods of health preservation in Buddhism are exercise and sitting meditation. Sitting meditation can get rid of all kinds of distracting thoughts. Indoor meditation can adjust the body, breath and mind, allowing people to achieve a peaceful and natural state of mind, thus resisting diseases."

Wu Yugang said: "This is not difficult. However, Shaolin Temple is famous for its martial arts, but what is the role of martial arts?"

The old monk said: "Martial arts are very useful. Martial arts can exercise the body, make people strong and resist diseases, and can also defend themselves, eliminate evil and promote good."

"Doesn't Buddhism require killing, can one still cultivate to become a Buddha?" Wu Yugang asked.

The old monk said: "Since ancient times, there has been a saying that one can immediately become a Buddha by putting down the butcher's knife. Practicing Buddhism is a way to get rid of reincarnation. If one's mind is empty and pure, one can naturally become a Buddha."

Wu Yugang asked suspiciously: "Do you really think people can become gods or Buddhas?"

The old monk said: "It is difficult to say. Buddha does not exist, but is something that is difficult for people to understand. Ordinary people can escape the suffering of hell and reincarnation by practicing Buddhism, and the abbot of the Buddhist school can become a Buddhist by practicing Buddhism." The Buddha who guards the mountain is the abbot. If he is reincarnated, he is also the abbot. Tibetan Buddhism is a Tibetan belief, and those reincarnated soul boys are the reborn bodies of the abbot.”

Wu Yugang sighed and asked: "It seems that there are really gods and Buddhas living in the world, but do you think I can become a Buddha?" (To be continued)
