Demon King, Don’t Run Away

Chapter 130: Answer some questions about the setting and plot

Views:

In order to finish this book, I didn't read the reviews for a long time. I only read them occasionally when they were recommended recently. Thank you for your support.

Let’s get straight to the point. First of all, the male protagonist’s numerical values and detailed settings of his various attributes.

At the beginning, I thought that this aspect would be interspersed in the article and introduced slowly. After all, introducing various settings at the beginning would make the article lengthy.

As a result, some readers have been confused about what each attribute is used for.

In addition, I have omitted many aspects and directly given the final result.

Rather than saying that I don't pay attention to details, it's better to say that I imagined it this way from the beginning. After all, many books similar to games start with detailed descriptions of the protagonist's improvement, and some people complain about it. I tried to skip adding points and directly give the results, and then

I can only say that it is difficult to satisfy everyone's needs when writing a book. If you try to cover everything, people will say it is watery; if you omit too much and leave some blank space and room for thinking, people will say it is vague and messy.

Everyone’s critical point is different, and it’s hard to strike a balance.

Although it is possible to conduct a survey, when I think of this, I think of the Coca-Cola Company's market research. They found that most users prefer sweeter flavors, so they launched a new product with a sweeter taste, which was boycotted.

After much thought, I can only do what I think is right.

Next, let's talk about some things on the panel:

Race: This attribute is generally a single item. Different races have different basic growth and resistance. Through racial essence, the race can be turned into a hybrid, changing the original basic growth and resistance.

The exact extent of the change depends on the amount of racial essence used and whether any mutation occurs after use.

This relationship is not cumulative, there are differences between different races, but it is a kind of readjustment. Basic growth and resistance do not grow linearly, but there is no doubt that the more and stronger racial essences are absorbed, the stronger they will become.

In addition, when absorbing the essence of multiple races, you have to pay attention to the characteristics of each race. The plant race generally has a weaker resistance to fire, and the snowman race in the mountains and the insect race are not resistant to fire. If you absorb the essence of these three races at the same time, you will most likely turn into a pile of flammable materials that can run away.

Stamina: Actions will consume stamina. Continuous fighting without any rest will cause stamina to be consumed faster per unit time.

Entering certain states will also greatly accelerate the consumption of physical strength, and different actions and environments will also greatly increase the consumption of physical strength.

Running a lap in the early morning and climbing a lap on a hot day will definitely require different amounts of physical energy.

After your physical strength is exhausted, you are not the only one who may become paralyzed. As long as you have a firm will, you can still move after your physical strength returns to zero. However, every action will come at the cost of life.

Occupation: Main occupation and secondary occupation, generally referring to the protagonist.

In this world, the boundaries between professions are not obvious. For example, a real warrior can learn to make fireballs with his bare hands through his own efforts.

Many of the protagonist's secondary occupations can be transformed into other people's main occupations.

As long as certain conditions are met, the protagonist can also change his secondary occupation into a main occupation.

Special: This person has been marked and possesses some abilities that are difficult for ordinary people to possess.

Some of these abilities have a hierarchy from high to low, generally lv.1 to lv.10 (lv.MAX), while others do not. Special individuals without levels are generally rare.

Skills: They can be divided into active and passive according to the release method, and can be status skills or damage skills according to the effects.

There are skills with the same name but completely different functions in different games.

For example, in some games, barbecue is a cooking skill, while in another game, the skill of barbecue can dissolve strong winds and stay in place without moving. In another game, barbecue is to kneel someone and shoot them with a Gatling gun.

Controversial skills will be briefly introduced.

Personal attributes:

Strength affects physical attacks, and in reality the reaction is an increase in strength.

Defense affects the amount of physical damage taken.

Intelligence, or perhaps special attack would be more appropriately called it. I have struggled between the two, but ultimately I chose intelligence, which is commonly translated in RPGs. It affects the strength of special attacks (magic and holy light) and some healing and auxiliary skills. The reality is that the higher the intelligence, the faster you learn things, and it is not tied to real IQ.

Special defense, affects the amount of damage received from special attacks.

Agility, or speed, mainly refers to the speed of movement, which will also affect the attack speed to a certain extent. The specific impact varies from person to person. In many cases, the speed of movement refers to the speed suitable for the activity environment of the organism, such as birds flying and fish diving.

A fish is fast in the water, but you can't expect it to soar in the sky like a dragon, or run as fast as a cheetah on land, right

Charm affects one's affinity. To become a certain profession, one must have a certain level of charm. A substantial increase in charm can improve the efficiency of gaining reputation.

Endurance affects the maximum values of HP, MP, and physical strength. The specific bonus varies from person to person, mainly based on race and profession. A warrior's endurance will greatly increase HP, while a mage's endurance will focus on increasing MP.

Luck, which cannot be increased, affects the critical hit chance, strategy drops, and will also affect reality to a certain extent.

Luck, like other attributes, has no upper limit, but it generally does not have a very high value like other values, and is usually between 0 and 100.

Lucky 0-9, bad luck, lucky 10-19, average level, lucky 20-49, good luck, lucky 50-79, extremely lucky, lucky 80-100, the chosen one.

It is worth mentioning that luck can be reduced below 0. Once it becomes a negative number, you will start to be plagued by bad luck and become an unlucky person.

Except for luck and charm, personal attribute values are more like defining ranges for each ability.

If one of your attributes is X, then you can use a value between 0 and X for this attribute. This can prevent someone from being too strong and accidentally crushing someone to death, or it can prevent someone from being too strong and unable to undergo surgery, and being completely possessed by something.

The attribute panels of other people viewed by the protagonist will be different. Sometimes luck and charm can be seen, and sometimes not. This depends to a certain extent on the identity of the other person.

For example, if the protagonist sees the saint of the church, he can see that the saint has extremely similar panel attributes to him, but when looking at some minions, he can only see some basic attributes.

This part was originally something that the protagonist gradually realized after he met more people, so it is also discussed here.

Resistance: Reduces the damage of the corresponding type of attack, with an upper limit of 100%. When the resistance is 100%, it becomes immune to that type of attack. Resistance can be reduced to a negative number. For every 1% increase in negative resistance, 1% more damage will be taken.

Drug resistance. Many medicines used to heal wounds and other functions in this world rely on the magic power within the medicines.

Magic and plants are entangled. Plants have tamed magic and possess their own unique characteristic magic. These characteristic magics can be combined with each other to make various potions.

Since most of the active ingredients in potions are magic, using a large amount of potions in a short period of time will inevitably lead to a large accumulation of magic in the body that is subdued by plants, which creates drug resistance.

Holy light is different from magic. There is currently no precedent for people developing resistance to holy light due to frequent treatment with holy light. On the contrary, there are many examples of people gradually developing resistance to healing magic.

This is also an important reason why healing magic has not become popular. Another reason is that it is difficult to learn.

Since these potions are made of magic power, all diseases caused by fungi, bacteria, and viruses naturally cannot be cured by these potions.

Regarding the lottery system, most of the items that were drawn were listed in the beginning, but as the number of draws increased, in order to avoid excessive water injection, this aspect was briefly written, which caused some people to wonder where some items came from.

Just remember that most of the items the male protagonist draws are common daily items, and the viewing experience will be better.

Next are achievements and reputation. Except for those who have just seen it, perhaps few people will remember these two things.

It's not that I forgot, but because it is a possibility of the system.

Whatever you choose, you have to give up. This is the usual style of this system.

The same is true for the options, point-adding systems, and skill point systems that appear from time to time.

In the game, when resources are scarce, you need to make careful decisions. If you act like a newbie and just click around and learn whatever you want, you won't be able to become a dragon Aotian easily, and you will most likely die instantly.

This is also a setting that is closer to reality.

To enable the achievement and reputation system, you need to form a team of at least ten people. Don't forget that as the number of team members increases, the experience share of the protagonist's team will decrease.

If Yang Yu has a team of ten people, He Meng can no longer level up by slacking off. He must participate in battles to gain experience.

Yang Yu follows the elite small group route, so naturally he cannot trigger this system.

In addition, different choices will also add different small systems.

For example, if the male protagonist chooses to work on machines, he will obtain a mechanical design system and various teaching materials on mechanical design.

If the male protagonist chooses to be an office worker, he can get a punch-in system, or if he chooses to farm, he can get a plant transformation system and become half an NPC.

Originally, after finishing this article, I was planning to write about a few IF lines.

For example, the evil demon king route of "Because of a silly dance, I accidentally became a demon king", the farming route of "Underground maze farming master, the ordinary is the truth", and the strategy route of "Single fight? I only like group fights. I am the weakest in the group, but I am the best military strategist in another world"

The original plan was to complete this story at around 1.5 million words, while writing the extra IF line to make up for the 2 million words, and at the same time writing a new work to try to make a comeback.

As a result, I haven't even reached half of the one million words I wrote. I conservatively estimate that it may take more than one million words to complete it. I will talk about it after I finish the IF line.

After the library, I also consciously tightened the plot, cut some side plots, and saved space.

In fact, many parts can be expanded. If it is as simple as other books, it will not be a problem to write 4-5 million words.

Of course, the tightening of the plot will also lead to a faster pace, I hope you can understand.

Having said that, let’s continue talking about the plot and character settings. For those who have not read more than 400 chapters, there may be some small plot spoilers involved, so please watch at your own discretion.

In terms of the plot, when I was writing about the library, I had to find connections and go to work to solve the problem of eating, so I could only write after get off work. The plot at that time was a bit lacking in polishing, and the turning points were written stiffly, which created a sense of stagnation.

I have noticed it too, but due to permission and time issues, I can only make the changes later when I have time.

In addition, some places in this book that look like bugs are foreshadowings I laid, some places that look like watered-down words are also, and some are left blank, but some places are real bugs. After all, the book is long, and it is completely normal to have some bugs.

What I am most worried about now is that some people think that the foreshadowing I laid is a BUG, but the real BUG is the hole I dug, and they think I dug a hole without filling it, haha.

I hope you can be more tolerant. The quality of the article has a lot to do with the author’s mood and state of the day.

There are very few authors who can continuously produce high-quality articles regardless of their mood or state.

The authors you see who can maintain high quality and update in large quantities are the ones who remain after repeated screening, which is the so-called survivor bias.

Including those that have not been accepted, I have written at least four million words in total. There are still a lot of things missing, especially I am still challenging some things that I have not written before. As I write, I still become confused and entangled in this and that.

But it’s okay, just because I feel confused when writing doesn’t mean my life will be confused.

The path of learning is not linear, it is more like a wave that slopes upward. Although it is sometimes good and sometimes bad, I feel that I am indeed growing slowly, which means that the general direction is correct.

The general direction is correct. Although we cannot promise that things will get better and better in a short period of time, as long as we maintain our original intentions and look at the long river of time, things should get better and better.

I've talked too much off-topic.

Next, let’s talk about the character settings.

At the beginning, I wanted to break away from the somewhat stereotypical and formulaic design of the main character group, and I added some of my understanding of reality to each member.

The most controversial character, or should be the least controversial character is the elf Iyas, who seems too real in every aspect.

My hometown is in the countryside, and I have seen too many elderly people like Iyas.

But it is not only the elderly in rural areas who have this kind of personality. On the contrary, this kind of personality is very common. I had a classmate in high school who lived in the city and also had this kind of personality.

I also hesitated whether to give Iyas this kind of country girl character. After all, I also know that this is a bit unpleasant, but.

Born in a closed elf village, he had hardly left the village in his life. After becoming an elf warrior in charge of hunting, he repeated the monotonous hunting and training day after day for decades without feeling bored at all, and was proud of it. However, his peace was broken by the sudden influx of slave hunters.

All things considered, only this stubborn personality is consistent with her experience.

I also thought about whether I should modify the outline and delete some of the plot about Iyas, but if I deleted it, the subsequent transformation of Iyas would seem too abrupt, which goes against my original intention of giving the character some reality.

If the idea was to portray an ideal team that was almost perfect from the beginning, perhaps there would not be the story you see.

Bai Jin and his father traveled for a long time, but they didn't become close friends with anyone, nor did they know how to make friends. They spent a lonely time. Because they had lost something before, they cherished everything they had now, which also brought some other problems.

As a master player who has conquered countless difficult games and was challenged by God, Yang Yu seemed a little overconfident in some places and fell into the trap of "people only believe what they believe". Not choosing to bypass He Meng was also one of the manifestations of this.

In order to prove his strength, he chose to pick up a hand of bad cards at the beginning. In the process of collecting cards, when he saw some better bad cards, he would take the initiative to grab them, because he didn't know if there were worse cards waiting for him.

Instead of complaining about always being dealt bad cards, you might as well think about how to play the bad cards well, or how to meet the conditions to turn bad cards into good cards. 345689 are bad cards, while 3456789 are good cards that can be barely used.

He Meng has the character of a completely arrogant eldest daughter, who just wants to eat, drink and gain experience for free.

As for Lothcar, forget it, I won’t spoil it.

In addition to the protagonists, I will also imagine the growth environment of other characters, and try my best to restore the personalities and ideas they may have. Unfortunately, the author's writing skills are limited, and he has little experience in some areas. He also has to make a living, so some parts are inevitably unsatisfactory. Please forgive me.

These are all I can think of for now. If I have anything to say next time, I guess I’ll have to wait until the book is finished.

Thank you all for your monthly tickets, subscriptions, rewards, recommendations, and collections.

Continue to write books in isolation.
