Chapter 28: 28. Outsider

Before the groundhog could run far, Lu Cheng grabbed it by the scruff of its neck and lifted it up.

"Captain, you are so skilled... don't you catch this often?"

Feng Kite was still wondering where to grab the groundhog, but when he came to his senses, Lu Cheng had strangled him by the scruff of the neck.

"It's not that often you catch it, just practice your hands and feet faster."

Lu Cheng said as he picked up the groundhog.

To be honest, this groundhog is quite heavy. Judging from its size, it is at least twice as big as the groundhogs on Earth. When Lu Cheng caught it, it kept waving its short legs and trying to kick Lu Cheng.

"Let me go! You don't know who you have offended. What you have done is a great disrespect to the Gemansis Secret Society!"

The groundhog struggled frantically under Lu Cheng's hands, trying to break free from Lu Cheng's restraints, but its struggle was of no use at all. Its short little hands could not even touch the skin on the back of its neck.

"The Gemansis Secret Society? What kind of strange organization is this?"

Lu Cheng looked at the two locals, Hubert and Elena, for help.

"You don't even know about the Gemansis Secret Society?"

When the groundhog heard Lu Cheng's question, he tried his best to turn his head.

Unfortunately, the groundhog's body structure is slightly different from that of an owl. All it can do is stretch its short limbs and try to swing on a swing to escape Lu Cheng's clutches.

"We have just arrived here not long ago, so we are considered outsiders," said Lu Cheng.

"Well... I heard my mother mention the name of this secret society." Elena's answer gave the groundhog hope.

"Quick! Tell these people what the Personality Mansis secret law is like."

The groundhog shouted to Elena in an anxious tone, as if Lu Cheng would roast and eat it if Elena spoke too slowly.

"Mother said that the Secret Society of Gemansis seems to be one of the largest magician cities in the world. It is also a neutral city independent of other countries. The city itself is built on a crystal core of a geomagnetic vein. It can be said to be a small country with only one city." Elena recalled for a while and told Lu Cheng about the existence of Gemansis.

"Yes, that's right."

The groundhog nodded unconsciously as he listened to Elena's popular science explanation, and his whole body began to swell up.

"That's all?" The three words Lu Cheng said the next moment made it sense the danger again.

"Hurry up and say more!"

The marmot waved his short little hands, anxiously wanting Elena to teach Lu Cheng, a stranger, some more knowledge about the Germansis Secret Society.

"I don't know much more than that. Mother only mentioned this to me." Elena was a little embarrassed.

“That’s what she answered.”

Lu Cheng turned the groundhog towards him, and a very human expression appeared on the groundhog's face, such as its teeth were chattering with fear.

"I am the chief apprentice of the Gemansis Secret Order. You can't do this to me."

In order to overcome its fear, the groundhog continued to wave its little fists and tried to hit Lu Cheng who was so close.

"Lu Cheng, you should put it down. I've never seen a talking digging rat before. Maybe it really is some kind of curse?"

Elena couldn't bear to see the groundhog being grabbed by the scruff of the neck by Lu Cheng.

"Yes, please put me down before I get angry... and help me find a boat. I can't stay in this shabby country place anymore."

As soon as the groundhog finished speaking, the worried expression on Elena's face suddenly disappeared.

Because this is Skarre, Elena is the princess of Skarre, and Elena cares about her country much more than herself. This groundhog slandered her country to her face.

"Do you want to grill it or boil it?"

Lu Cheng saw that Elena had begun to force a smile on her face.

"Roast?" Elena thought for a second before she gradually caught up with Lu Cheng's thought process.

"My mother taught me the skill of skinning wild animals... I should be able to help."

Elena answered this question very seriously, as if she was about to roll up her sleeves and peel off the fur of the groundhog in the next second.

The groundhog's hair almost stood up as it listened to the discussion between Lu Cheng and Elena.

"I... I am the most outstanding magic apprentice in Gemansis in the past hundred years, a person blessed by the Holy Spirit, a daughter of crystal, a giver of ancient books, and a great prophet in reserve. You barbarians! You actually... actually want to eat me!"

It struggled frantically again, but no matter how fat the groundhog was, it couldn't break free from Lu Cheng's hands.

Lu Cheng listened quietly to the names called out by the groundhog. Just hearing these complicated names, it sounded that its origin was indeed not simple.

Why it appeared in the ruins of this city, in the form of a groundhog, remains a mystery.

But this did not prevent Lu Cheng from taking it back for research.

"General Hubert, please take us to a place where we can rest."

Lu Cheng selectively ignored the groundhog's wailing before being put into the pot, and went straight to General Hubert to ask about the location of the temporary residence.

"Come with me."

General Hubert ignored the talking groundhog and took Lu Cheng directly to a mining workshop on the edge of the port of Huiri City.

This mining workshop was built on the bank of the Green Leaf River. The humans in this world have learned to use the power of water wheels to smelt minerals.

When Lu Cheng walked into the workshop under the leadership of General Hubert, it was already in a dilapidated state.

The workshop building was still relatively well preserved overall, but the things inside had been looted so many times that any box in Lucheng's house would appear to be marked as 'empty'.

"This is my last warning to you. If you don't want me to turn you into a beaver with magic, get me out of here right now!"

Ever since this groundhog was brought to the workshop from Lucheng, it has never stopped chattering and demonstrating.

Lu Cheng has a high tolerance for this small and cute creature, but no matter how high his tolerance is, he can't stand its endless ridicule.

So the moment the groundhog finished speaking, Lu Cheng pulled out the dagger from his leg.

"You...what do you want to do!" At this moment, the groundhog's dark brown hair showed signs of turning white.
