Dimensional Expedition

Chapter 66: 66. Fear of low battery

Lu Cheng didn't expect that the surveillance system in the camp would come in handy on the first day it was installed, and it was the thermal imaging camera that worked.

Lu Cheng had foreseen that anything could happen in the magical world... but he didn't expect that someone could actually become invisible.

Fortunately, magic can be countered by science, and the two intruders have been caught and locked up in an interrogation room made from a container house.

"Have you figured out their identities?"

When Lu Cheng arrived outside the interrogation room, the people in the camp were already interrogating the two uninvited spellcasters.

“All we know is that they are from the Gemansis Secret Society. The female one has remained silent, while the male one always says useless things.” A responsible person said to Lu Cheng.

"Germansis Secret Society? But that woman looks familiar. No... I shouldn't say familiar."

Lu Cheng looked at the two people in the interrogation room through a one-way coated glass. There were two small interrogation rooms in total, and the two captured spellcasters were interrogated separately.

The female spellcaster Lu Cheng could sense a familiar aura from her, and this 'aura' was real.

After the holy crystal strengthened Lu Cheng's senses, Lu Cheng could feel the flow of magic power.

This feeling is also an essential quality for a spellcaster.

"What the secret society said must be related to that groundhog. Keep your eyes on them."

Lu Cheng walked out of the interrogation room quickly and went straight to the research area where Noyi lived.

When Lu Cheng just sent Nuoyi back to where they lived, a heart-wrenching scream was heard from inside the room.

"Lucheng!!"

The scream came from the groundhog Charlotte. The moment she saw Lu Cheng, she jumped off the table and ran to Lu Cheng using her hands and feet.

"What happened?" As soon as Lu Cheng finished speaking, Charlotte's two little paws grabbed Lu Cheng's trouser legs.

"The slate you gave me called a cell phone isn't responding!"

Charlotte pulled Lu Cheng's trouser leg with great effort and tried to pull Lu Cheng into the room.

Lu Cheng had no choice but to let the groundhog pull him to the side of the desk. Then Charlotte used her little paws to climb onto Elena's bed with difficulty, and then climbed from Elena's bed to the desk next to it with difficulty.

Charlotte climbed onto the table, picked up her cell phone and held it in front of Lu Cheng.

"Is it broken?" Charlotte's furry face was full of worry.

"It's just that the power is out. The things we make are not that easy to break, as long as you don't wash them in water."

Lu Cheng took a look at Charlotte's cell phone and, as expected, it had run out of battery after being played with by the groundhog. Lu Cheng took out the charger, connected the phone to it, and then plugged it into the power socket at the head of the bed.

In less than three seconds, under Charlotte's surprised gaze, the dead cell phone came back to life again.

"This thing needs magic to charge like a golem?"

Charlotte also knew that the 'energy' of a mobile phone was not infinite. Unfortunately, as a groundhog, her body did not have any magic power at all, and she had no way to recharge her mobile phone.

"You can't charge your phone with magic power. You can only use this charging cable and the matching port."

Lu Cheng pulled out the plug and showed Charlotte the interface on it. The clever groundhog girl immediately understood something terrifying...

"Then how should I recharge...recharge after I leave this camp?" Charlotte asked this question with a trembling voice.

"The answer is that it cannot be charged. If you rashly use some lightning magic to inject it into the port, there will be only one result... that is, it will break." Lu Cheng told Charlotte a cruel fact.

Charging your phone is a very cheap thing on Earth, after all, there are plugs and sockets everywhere, but this world is different...

Maybe Charlotte could have this phone, but she wanted to charge it, and this camp was the only place in the world where she could do that.

Scarcity makes things valuable, but the most terrifying thing is monopoly!

"Anyway...you won't let me leave now." Charlotte realized the seriousness of the matter. As if to convince herself, she took the phone from Lu Cheng and looked at the slowly rising battery level. "I don't need to worry about these things now."

"It seems that the Secret Society has sent someone to pick you up."

Lu Cheng smiled and said something that would have made Charlotte jump for joy if she had heard it a day ago.

"Are you lying to me again?" Charlotte was reluctant to believe Lu Cheng's words.

"When have I ever lied to you? It's okay if you don't want to see them." Lu Cheng was sure that the two members of the secret society came for Charlotte.

"Of course I will."

Charlotte jumped off the desk with her phone in hand, but the charging cable of the phone could not support such a long distance.

The moment Charlotte jumped, the plug fell off and the battery level displayed on Charlotte's mobile phone jumped from 3% to 2%.

"I'm running out of energy again!"

Charlotte looked at the battery indicator in the upper right corner of the phone, which had turned bright red. She knew what terrible things would happen when the number dropped to zero.

"You can leave your phone here to charge, and come back to get it after you have reached an agreement with the two members of the Secret Society."

Lucheng was very generous. If the rabbits had enough energy, the resources they mined in this world would be as little as dust compared to the resources used by this groundhog.

"What about after I return to the Secret Society?"

Charlotte asked a question that she herself could figure out, but she still expected Lu Cheng to give a different answer.

"Let me think..." Lu Cheng summoned a small portal on the ground, reached into it and took out a 20,000 mAh power bank from his home. "This is our mobile power bank. You just need to plug this end of the interface here and the other end of the interface under the phone."

Lu Cheng did a simple demonstration, and Charlotte saw the green light on her phone’s battery display light up again. She was so excited that she wanted to stretch out her short little hand to take the power bank from Lu Cheng’s hand.

But Lu Cheng gently raised his hand and held the power bank in the air. No matter how Charlotte stood on tiptoe, she couldn't touch the power bank in Lu Cheng's hand.

"This thing is not free, Miss Charlotte," Lu Cheng said.

"What... do you want in exchange?" Charlotte asked.

"I haven't made up my mind yet. Why don't I meet your two companions first and then make a decision?"

Lu Cheng was very interested in the knowledge of the Gemansis Secret Society, but the magic props they carried with them were what Lu Cheng was most interested in, especially the reason why the two spellcasters could become invisible.

Invisibility... This is an area where technology on Earth is still making breakthroughs, but this world has achieved it with magic!

Lu Cheng felt that there was no need to explain in detail the strategic value of true invisibility.
