Chapter 1: Reunion

Xia Yu never thought that he would have the chance to sit down and have coffee with Lu Zhao again in his life.

He sat by the window, looking absentmindedly at the sycamore trees outside the window, but was unwilling to look at Lu Zhao opposite him.

To be fair, after not seeing each other for a few years, Lu Zhao was still as handsome and charming, even more stable, but their breakup was so ugly that he would feel a deep resistance in his heart whenever he saw Lu Zhao.

No, we can’t say break up either.

Xia Yu took a sip of coffee and corrected his wording in his mind.

From the beginning to the end, he and Lu Zhao could not be considered a couple, at most they were just sex buddies.

So we can't use such a solemn word as breaking up, it can only be called separation.

Thinking of this, he regretted accepting Lu Zhao's invitation to sit down and have a cup of coffee.

He was actually just angry for the moment and didn't want to lose face in front of Lu Zhao. The more he cared, the more he had to pretend to be calm.

So he thought about it for two seconds and agreed, as if he had forgotten his past.

But he really overestimated himself. After sitting for a while, he felt a dull pain from the bottom of his heart and from his stomach.

This made him feel particularly bad, and he didn't want to pretend to laugh it off. He glanced at Lu Zhao unfriendly, "What do you want to talk to me about today?"

He and Lu Zhao had just met in his shopping mall, and Lu Zhao said he had something to tell him.

Lu Zhao's eyes were always on Xia Yu.

He told Xia Yu that they had not had any contact for three years, but that was only towards Xia Yu.

He has been keeping an eye on Xia Yu's life.

But none of this could compare to Xia Yu himself sitting in front of him.

He took a sip of coffee and did not answer Xia Yu's question immediately. Instead, he said, "I have wanted to see you every time I went back to Chuan City in the past few years, but I never found the opportunity."

He looked up at Xia Yu and asked again, "How are you doing recently?"

This sentence is very cliché.

In cheesy romance novels, nine out of ten old lovers will ask this question when they meet.

But apart from this sentence, Lu Zhao couldn't think of any other opening question.

It seems like nothing I can say is appropriate.

Xia Yu raised her eyebrows. "It's pretty good. My career is going well, my relationship is happy, and I love my husband very much. Our third wedding anniversary is coming up soon."

Yes, he is married.

Three months after separating from Lu Zhao, he quickly married his current husband.

Their families need a marriage.

But he had just gotten over his painful relationship with Lu Zhao, and he told Xu Zhan clearly that he was not in a position to fall in love with anyone for the time being.

Xu Zhan didn't mind either.

Her husband is very good, gentle, kind and considerate to him. They have tried to cultivate their relationship, but unfortunately they burst out laughing when they went to bed, and they could only sit together and chat.

To put it bluntly, this marriage can only be regarded as a cooperation of interests. He and Xu Zhan are friends and family, but not lovers.

But in the eyes of outsiders, he and Xu Zhan are always together, have a deep affection for each other, and are a model couple in the circle.

This also gave him some confidence when facing Lu Zhao after all the embarrassment he had experienced in the past.

He is already married, and no one would be so tactless as to suspect that he still has feelings for Lu Zhao.

In terms of identity, he and Lu Zhao have already severed ties.
