Don’t Provoke the Turtle

Chapter 2: How cunning and treacherous the beasts are

Views:

The giant salamander cried loudly.

He watched helplessly as the turtle calf swallowed his red carp piece by piece. That would have been fine, but after eating the fish he beat him!

Why is it in this pond? Why don't you go to the big lake next door? It's so big that you can't even swim to the end.

The giant salamander looked pitiful. When Su He wasn't paying attention, it stole a crucian carp and swallowed it quietly.

Su He was too lazy to pay attention to him and huddled under the water without moving.

I'm a little full.

The red carp, which has doubled in quality, is very chewy and a little hard to digest, so he needs a warm, sun-proof place to have a good sleep.

If there were no wolves on the shore, I would just find a shallow beach, dig a hole, bury myself in it, and only breathe out through my nostrils. This is how I hibernated every time I became a turtle in the past two years.

Of course, it can also sleep at the bottom of the water like other turtles.

On the first day after hatching, Su He discovered that he could now not only breathe through his nose and mouth, but he could actually breathe underwater, but it was just difficult to tell where he could breathe.

butt!

Or is it called cloaca? It should be this word. Su He is generally not very clear about biology.

The cloaca can not only urinate, but also suck in lake water and oxygen from the water. However, this kind of breathing is very weak, better than nothing.

I don't know if this is possible for all turtles, or just his species, or maybe it's because he's a time traveler and is a little special

If he chooses to have a deep sleep, taking a deep breath and reducing body movements to a minimum, and breathing through his buttocks, he can sleep quietly under water for six or seven days.

Su He rarely breathes in this way. At first, he couldn't get over the psychological barrier, and later he was simply not used to it.

But being unaccustomed does not mean being unable.

Su He held his breath and dug a cave at the bottom of the pool, then swam to the surface to help the wolves breathe. After taking a full breath of air, he sank to the bottom of the water, crawled into the cave, and slowly closed his eyes.

Soon he fell into silence and fell into a deep sleep.

The pond is not big, only about two acres. There are no natural enemies in the water, and there are wolves standing guard outside, so there is no need to worry about other predators coming, so Su He can sleep peacefully.

But this sleep was not sound. He felt itchy all over his body. Su He always dreamed that he was caught and stewed in a casserole, with the boiling water licking his shell, causing a burning pain.

After being scalded, I felt itchy again and wanted to peel off the turtle shell to scratch it to my heart's content.

As Su He was tortured by pain and itchiness, time passed and the wolves on the shore became more and more impatient.

The wolves' patience was not that poor, but the smell of the demon-transforming fruit lingering over the pond became fainter as Su He fell asleep!

The sleeping turtle's breathing became extremely weak.

The wolf king began to become violent and even beat other wolves three or four times. He also forced the wolf pack to go into the water more than ten times a day to search back and forth.

The wolves were angry but dared not speak.

What's worse is that there have been no dead fish floating on the water surface in the past few days. The wolves have nothing left to catch and need to hunt, but the wolf king has not been able to organize an effective hunt.

It didn't dare to go far away from the pool and could only give remote commands from a small hill nearby, which greatly reduced the wolf pack's hunting effectiveness.

The wolves were hungry.

There were herds of deer running, glancing at the wolves from time to time. They could now freely enter and exit the areas with lush water plants that they had once dared not set foot in. The wolves were suppressed by the wolf king and were not allowed to leave the pond.

These lush green grass areas have become a paradise for deer.

Not far away, a water snake had just swallowed a frog, and was then captured by a hawk that descended from the sky and flew into the sky.

A faint smell of blood filled the air.

The hunter is also the prey, and no one can guarantee that he can survive to the next moment.

Peaceful and tranquil days passed by.

At the bottom of the pond, Su He felt that he was really dead this time. He felt boiling water all around him. His turtle shell was peeling off layer by layer. He was probably cooked, and the whole turtle sank to the bottom of the pot.

whereabouts…

whereabouts…

Su He suddenly woke up and looked around. He was still in the pond. But the cave he was hiding in had collapsed. He had squeezed it down!

Judging from the air left in his lungs, he had only slept for five or six days.

But Su He had grown from a plate to a basin, and the hole he had dug earlier could not accommodate him and was broken. His body became heavy and sank into the mud. No wonder he was always sinking to the bottom of the pot in his dream.

Turtles also shed their shells, but they don't shed their entire shells in one go like crabs do and grow a new one. Instead, they shed their shells piece by piece and layer by layer.

It can shed about twice a year.

It gradually grows while shedding its shell. It is a gradual process.

But this time, after sleeping for five or six days, it shed more than one layer of shell. And the color of the shed shell changed, from the ordinary gray shell to a darker color.

There is a tendency to darken.

This is a good thing, burying it in the mud will make it more concealed.

Su He turtle/peeked out quietly, confirmed that there was no danger, and gently paddled to swim slowly to the surface.

After a few days, most of the pond surface has been covered by lotus leaves. The lotus leaves have not yet grown to their full size, but in another five or six days these green leaves will cover the entire pond.

Then it is ready to bloom. Su He is waiting for the lotus to bloom. It has an appointment with people.

Su He lightly paddled with his front legs and treaded water with his hind feet, then poked his head out of the water to look around.

The wolf king was beating up two wolves. Only three were still patrolling the pond. The rest surrounded the wolf king, baring their teeth and making threatening noises.

I don't know whether it was a threat to the wolf king, or a threat to the wolf that was beaten by cheering it on.

But Su He had a vague feeling that the wolf pack no longer respected the Wolf King! After not seeing him for five or six days, the Wolf King's prestige was gone!

Hello, Wolf King!

Goodbye, Wolf King!

The wolf king's attention was attracted by other things. When Su He finished breathing and sank to the bottom of the water, it reacted and hurriedly left the two beaten wolves behind and jumped into the pond.

The water in the center of the pond is about two meters deep and is shielded by lotus leaves, so Su He is absolutely safe when he dives into the water.

The giant salamander was swimming happily underwater, and it became much more lively after not seeing it for a few days.

Su He decided to help it consolidate its memory, so he beat it up and stole two of its prawns.

The dice fell, three.

Shrimp × 8.

Two became eight, and this time the number was not triple but cubed.

But it’s still not good enough! Su He wants to improve the quality of the prawns.

He casually pushed the prawns towards the giant salamander and watched it wolf down the food in a daze.

It's a pity that the dice have a virgin complex. If you take back something that has been rolled by it, it will not roll the same number again, otherwise this cycle will continue indefinitely.

On the water surface, the wolf king returned to the shore angrily, looking at the calm surface of the pool with a human-like deep gaze. After a few glances, he turned around and ran into the depths of the woods, turning a deaf ear to the barking of the wild wolves behind him.

After about two or three hours, the wolf king returned with a small animal the size of a cat and the size of a mouse. He shook his head and threw it into the pond. The animal was frightened by the wolf king, and it slapped its tail and jumped into the pond, hiding far away from the wolf king.

Otter

Su He was startled for a moment, then became furious.

Damn you, otter!!

When did you, a wolf, learn to use tools?!

Otters are definitely the natural enemies of turtles! They are very quick and responsive, and it is not difficult for them to hunt turtles that are larger than themselves.

The small turtle smashed the shell, and the big turtle directly took the meat from the limbs.

There's no use shrinking into your shell!

You son of a bitch! Your uncle's uncle! You're playing dirty tricks!

This otter is about the same size as Su He.

Danger!

Su He paddled hard with all four limbs and rushed to the water surface. While the otter was still panicking after escaping from the wolf's mouth, he bit the back of its neck, pulled it underwater, and dragged it to the bottom of the water.

An otter can only hold its breath for five or six minutes, while Su He can hold it for seven days. This is its only advantage.

The otter had just escaped from the wolf's mouth when it was suddenly attacked again. He was so frightened that his soul was out of his body. His body twisted into a knot and he looked back, struggling, digging and kicking.

It did not relax at all just because it was bitten by a turtle. The back of its neck was bitten so hard that it could not exert any strength at all!

The otter pulled at Su He's fur, scratched Su He's head with its front paws, and kicked Su He's shell with its hind paws like a cat, trying to kick him away or tear open his shell directly.

Su He let it struggle, not even noticing its right hind leg being torn apart by the otter's claws. He was determined to bite its neck and press it into the water. He immediately turned over and rode on it, holding it down tightly, his claws hooked on the water plants at the bottom of the pond, not letting go for a moment.
