Ember’s Gun

Chapter 133: Melt down

The scavengers have arrived here, wearing heavy isolation suits, and heavy breathing can be heard under the gas masks. They are busy, and because they are not specialized, they rotate every few minutes. Sometimes the alarm will sound, and others will carry out the unconscious person.

There was a light mist in the air, which was the atomized neutralizing liquid. Although it was powerless to fight against the strange erosion, it could at least make people feel more at ease.

Ordinary humans are so powerless against erosion, but even so, humans still gain a slight advantage in the war with demons.

From time to time, the screams of monsters could be heard. Some of the eggs had not yet fully hatched. The scavengers roughly opened the hard layer and dragged out the monsters wrapped in mucus. They were like incompletely developed fetuses, with deformed bodies, curled up together, and with human features on their strange bodies, just like incompletely evolved creatures.

The thermite rifles were ignited, and the soldiers standing on the other side were vigilant and locked the monsters into iron cages one by one. The Perpetual Motion Pump had never found monsters in eggs like this, and they needed some samples.

This is probably what they mean by "talking all the time while running around".

Those scholars in white clothes dissect the monsters in a well-secured laboratory, while these unfortunate kids have to be deeply trapped in the erosion to catch monsters for them.

"Has there been a fire here?"

Lorenzo smelled a hint of ashes.

"There is a strange plant that looks like a demon, but it looks like a herb. We found it when we captured the underground palace. We didn't expect it to still be here."

Arthur replied.

"It's stomach grass. Dean Lawrence's breeding skills are a bit unusual."

When Lorenzo heard Arthur's description, he could imagine what that thing was. Fortunately, he discovered it in time, otherwise the stomach grass would spread and cause much more trouble than a normal monster.

"Mr. Holmes, this is what we really don't understand."

Arthur glanced at Lorenzo and pointed to the lot further ahead.

"According to the Geiger counter, this is the source of pollution in the entire breeding field, and the place with the most severe erosion."

Arthur looked at the broken eggs. In the middle of the arrangement was a furnace that looked like an altar. The bottom was covered with ashes. The furnace had already cooled down, but there was still some metal left.

"This is… "

Lorenzo could clearly feel the strong erosion coming from the furnace, so strong that it seemed like the center of a vortex, pulling everyone around him in and bringing them into the deep, dark bottom.

"I don't know what it is, but I can see that the metal left in the furnace is suspected to be holy silver... Priest Lawrence may have used it to forge holy silver, but as a metal that destroys demons, how could it carry such strong corrosion?"

This was something Arthur didn't understand. Logically speaking, holy silver and demons were basically incompatible, but it appeared in the same place so strangely, carrying a huge amount of corrosion on the holy metal.

Lorenzo said nothing, but walked forward towards the pressure. This furnace was too deadly for them all, so the scavengers set up a cordon to warn other workers.
