Ember’s Gun

Chapter 144: Tool man

"Lorenzo, I have been thinking... What form do I live in, and what kind of existence is the [Gap]?"

Medanzo looked at the dim starry sky, and then walked towards it.

"After thinking for a long time, I suddenly realized that I couldn't think clearly because human common sense was interfering with me, just like you can't fully understand animals."

It is difficult for humans to make absolutely rational judgments about the unknown, and their common sense as human beings interferes with them.

Lorenzo understood what Medanzo meant, and he looked at Watson, the disturbing woman.

"So you asked the demon for advice?"

"Yes. At least for now, she is the only one who can answer my question. So... Watson and I have reached a temporary agreement. Of course, we cannot rule out the possibility that she will defect at a critical moment."

Medanzo turned around and saw the terrifying crack behind him.

“I realized that I might be living in a state of spiritual consciousness, intersecting with your consciousness… Our consciousnesses intersect, and this [gap] is the space that connects us.”

Three different wills exist together in the same [Gap].

Lorenzo shook his head;

"I don't understand."

"Actually, this is easy to understand. Let me give you an example."

As Medanzo spoke, he moved aside, allowing Lorenzo to observe the starry sky that he had blocked. In the dim darkness, there was a bright star near the crack.

"That is another [gap], a space that connects people's wills on a spiritual level, and you should be very familiar with it."

"Familiar? How is that possible?"

Lorenzo looked at the strange starry sky. The darkness seemed to have magic, attracting Lorenzo's thoughts, but the instinctive sense of crisis told him that once he fell, there might be endless darkness.

"You are still in the wrong path, Lorenzo. The mark left by the Gospel Church in your mind has not yet been removed."

Medanzo said with some sadness.

When you are instilled with an idea from the moment you are born, the invisible cage imprisons you and makes you believe in it. Even though Lorenzo has left the Gospel Church and even though he no longer believes in any gods, in his subconscious, Lorenzo still avoids them.

Just like someone said that ice is hot and will get burned if you touch it, you may question it, but when it becomes an iron rule in your life, you will instead regard this "abnormality" as "normal". You won't even think about whether it is right or wrong. After all, that thing is as common as the wind.

Lorenzo still has the constraints of the church in his mind. He should question all the mysterious things instead of thinking that they are the correct reality. He should turn all the incomprehensible things into theorems and formulas that can be understood.

"Have you ever wondered where the voices in your head come from?"

"Voices... in my head?"

Lorenzo seemed to realize something, and the sound coming from the mysterious machine echoed in his mind.

It's like there is a strange system in your body that will give you help and instructions at specific times, but you have never thought about what it is, never thought about why it does this. You just succumb to the so-called "system" and execute one strange command after another.
