The rainstorm became more violent, with howling winds, dragging the whole world into a white ocean. As thunder rolled in the clouds, the dark clouds blocked all the light. It was clearly daytime, but it was like night.
In this gray and dark day, the prayers in the white church continue. People sit together, singing praises to the beauty in the sea of candlelight.
Joey suddenly had a feeling of unreality, as if the whole world was collapsing and being destroyed in the rainstorm, and only this small church would be the last refuge in this doomsday.
"James...Moriarty."
Joey slowly read out the man's name, and he smiled faintly on his approachable face as if he was being called.
“It’s a really good atmosphere. I really like rainy days.”
Moriarty looked at the collapsing world outside the window and couldn't help but say.
“The harsh external environment and the comfortable surroundings… Such a contrast always makes people feel happy.”
As he spoke, his gaze shifted to Joey's face again and he asked with some curiosity.
"So, Joey... is it okay for me to call you that?"
Joey was always wary of the man in front of him, but just as he said, such a contrast always makes people feel happy. Joey was a little dazed and actually nodded slightly for a moment.
But afterwards he suddenly woke up, which was not something he often did, and he seemed to be aware of something unusual, his voice was slightly cold.
“Are you from Black Mountain Hospital?”
"Yeah, that's right. This is just my part-time job. After all, saving the world is a good job."
Moriarty talked eloquently. He was indeed an excellent psychiatrist. Even if you were full of caution, you could not help but follow his thoughts in his gossip. Joey had experienced this feeling from another person, but that person was full of nonsense.
"That hellhole of a place like Black Mountain Hospital has very high psychological requirements, and doctors can't treat themselves... So I need a place to satisfy my sense of salvation, so that I can have the ability to return to that hell and continue to do good deeds."
His tone was very relaxed, like he was a familiar friend chatting with Joey about recent events... but they had just met.
Joey tried hard to stay alert. He could feel the difference, like a psychedelic and realistic dream. You knew it was fake, but you couldn't find any loopholes.
“Doctors at Montenegro Hospital rarely work part-time.”
As a branch of the Purge Agency, Joey knew a lot about the Black Mountain Hospital. In order to maintain confidentiality, entry and exit of that place were strictly guarded.
"But there are always exceptions, aren't there?"
Moriarty said as he brought a chair for Joey, but he didn't put it among the people sitting around, but on the other side of the stairs. Joey sat down opposite Moriarty.
"You don't seem to like me very much," Moriarty said.
"Perhaps."
"Is this because of the specialization?"
Joey's pupils narrowed slightly, and he stared at Moriarty. His blurry image was reflected in the mirror, but after a while Moriarty started laughing.
"Don't be so nervous, Joey. In a way, we are still colleagues."
