The rainstorms became more and more violent, as if it was a long-accumulated revenge. They fell from the sky and washed away the sins of the city.
Obviously, this rainy season is coming extremely fiercely. Pale lightning snakes are marching in the rolling dark clouds. Every time they appear, they bring dazzling light to this gray world. Then the light drives away the steel whales, and those giant beasts that never dive land one after another. In such a terrible thunderstorm, human beings are not able to resist it with their existing strength.
It seemed as if there was a demon behind the dark clouds, making mocking sounds and wreaking natural disasters at will.
The flash of lightning was like a flashlight, illuminating the distortion of the city, and in the center of it all, the sharp spire still pointed straight to the sky, lonely but indestructible.
Hercule stood at the sewer outlet. Water was gushing out from the channel beside him and pouring into the Thames River below. Because of the heavy rain, the accumulated water was about to flood the shore.
"It's really magnificent. You don't see that tower very often."
Hercule was enjoying the thunderstorm. He was in the dark sewer, looking up at the towering spire above.
“I don’t remember there being any buildings like this in Old Dunling.”
Lorenzo held onto the damp wall, then slowly sat down. Perhaps he really needed to rest for a while. He looked toward the solitary spire outside. It was so huge, and its height far exceeded all the buildings in Old Dunling, as if it was communicating with the heavens.
"Because it is usually covered by exhaust gas. The thick fog not only covers the sky, but also covers the tall buildings. Usually the upper part of the tower is covered by cumulus clouds. Only in this kind of bad weather, when the strong wind disperses the smoke, can it really be revealed."
Hercule, who obviously knew a lot, then asked.
"Do you know its name?"
Lorenzo shook his head. His confused mind no longer had the energy to think about anything else.
As if to arouse Lorenzo's interest, Hercule paused for a moment and then continued.
"Dunling Tower."
Lorenzo raised his head slightly, his eyes filled with confusion.
"Yes, it is called Dunling Tower. Dunling Tower and Old Dunling, very interesting, right?"
As he spoke, Hercule also sat down against the damp wall, shoulder to shoulder with Lorenzo, holding the big furry rat in his arms.
"Lorenzo, we are now in a city of innovation. The things born in this city are changing the whole world. Similarly, those things are also changing the city itself."
"You seem to know a lot."
Lorenzo became slightly interested and temporarily put aside the mystery of the damn identity.
"Yes, these are secrets in the royal archives, but you also know my desire for control. I will not allow those secrets to be out of my knowledge."
He pointed to his head, to which Lorenzo just smiled reluctantly.
"You are lucky that you haven't been executed yet."
"It's not that serious. This is an abandoned project. Maybe the current people in power don't even remember that there is such a thing."
Hercule began to explain this to Lorenzo.
