Ember’s Gun

Chapter 276: Memory Palace

Views:

Dark clouds obscured the bright moon, outlining silver-grey bands of light at the edges. The night was so heavy, exuding a depressing silence.

The gray-black rocks stood at the edge of the coast like raised monuments. The sharp stone edges cut the waves into pieces. The huge black waves broke into thousands of bubbles and dissipated in the black cracks.

The man was lying on the edge of the boat, one hand hanging into the sea, feeling the bone-chilling cold, trapped in the center of the storm.

Everything was swaying slightly with the surge of the waves, as if it was a mother's cradle. She was singing softly, trying to calm the man's anger and make him sleep here forever.

Seems like this is a good ending...

The man thought so.

Blood flowed out of the wound and the heart beat weakly until it slowly calmed down. The gray-blue eyes reflected the burning night and finally engraved everything into the depths of memory.

The waves continued to shake, violently but slowly, like a rising and falling ferocious beast, until they swallowed up everything on the sea.

So he was dragged into the sea, falling, falling again and again, hitting the deep seabed, feeling heart-wrenching pain.

Lorenzo opened his eyes. There was no sleepiness, and he had no time to appreciate what the ceiling looked like this time. He curled up on the soft bed, as if he had fallen from a great height to the ground, but the pain of the impact came from his mind.

He covered his head, gritted his teeth, and tried his best not to make any moans of pain.

This state lasted for a long time, and when the pain seemed to subside, Lorenzo slowly stretched his body and took a deep breath.

With his head tilted to one side, a faint light was falling from the window. It was already dawn, but Lorenzo could still smell the damp freshness of the rain in the air, as well as the dripping sound. It seemed that the heavy rain had not stopped yet.

That was a really strange dream.

After a long time, Lorenzo slowly thought of it.

Fighting with demons always has some strange side effects, such as mental illness or physical pain. Usually, Lorenzo doesn't care about those. After all, he is a demon hunter with an absurdly strong vitality, so he doesn't care about many symptoms.

But it was only then that Lorenzo noticed changes in himself, such as headaches. Lorenzo had had such symptoms long before the fight with Lawrence. This kind of occasional headache, if you look deeper, it all seemed to have happened since Lorenzo killed the burning demon.

That burning demon... Lorenzo remembered it was called Horner.

Lorenzo killed many demons, too many to even count, but Horner was the one he always remembered. It was not because he was so special, but because Lorenzo killed him in the [Gap] at that time.

There are still many mysteries of the [Gap], but Lorenzo found another way to kill the demon completely that time. He destroyed the poor man in the [Gap], and his entity died as well. In that chaotic death, Lorenzo also got some of Horner's memories. They were intertwined, and then Lorenzo began to have a headache.

It all seemed to have started at that time, and the fight in that [gap] triggered something that Lorenzo didn't know yet.
