As the wings slowly opened, the Temple of Stasis welcomed its fourth guest, an unknown guest.
The neutral face was stiff, without any emotional fluctuations, the skin was pure white, like a jade work of art. As consciousness gradually took control of the body, low bursting sounds came from under the body, and the interlocking bones began to stretch until the wings with gray-white edges were fully unfolded.
That was the image of an angel in the Gospels, but everyone present knew very well that this thing in front of them could definitely not be an angel. Beneath that pure appearance was something forbidden, something evil, twisted, and rotten.
Lawrence took a deep breath and tried to stay calm. The strange erosion had gradually spread. Although his will could resist it, his cowardly mortal body had already shown signs of abnormality. He could clearly see that the originally red blood vessels under the arms of his temporary body had begun to turn dark red, like dead branches, baring their fangs and claws.
This was a scene that overturned previous cognition. The so-called "Holy Grail" was the image in front of us, but it was dead. Or rather, its body was dead and its will was nowhere to be found.
So, is this angel-like being before us the Holy Grail that escaped and was lost during the night of the Holy Coming
Or... another [Holy Grail].
Fine bloodshot covered Lawrence's eyeballs, his heart beating violently to transport blood to his brain. He tightly grasped the weapon in his hand. Even though erosion and fear were hitting his will hard, he still did not move his eyes away, but just stared at it, as if he wanted to imprint that sacred and evil face in his pupils forever.
It was almost there. Lawrence was getting close to the so-called "truth", and so was everyone present.
The new Pope fought with the angel, and the spiked sword brought up a curtain of blazing white flames. It was obvious that the new Pope did not know that the inside of the holy coffin was the angel he was fighting before his eyes, nor did he know that the monster he had been killing but had come back again was the "Holy Grail" that the Evangelical Church was wary of.
The gray wings looked soft, but were actually as strong as steel. They were like a movable shield, withstanding the attacks of the new Pope. However, the new Pope did not attack with all his strength, as he was well aware of how terrifying this ghost thing was.
The wings are so strong and the edges are as sharp as swords. With every swing, it is not only a solid shield but also a sword.
The angel did not move. It had just been "born" for less than a minute, and the will residing within it had not yet completely controlled this new body.
When the attack failed, the new Pope leaped back hard, creating a safe distance between them, and then looked at Lawrence and the woman hiding in the dark.
The new Pope didn't know what to call this thing, so he had to temporarily name it an angel based on its sacred posture.
Angels are like this. At first, they seem to be a kind of invisible ghost, just like the woman next to them, and just like the woman’s words. The empty will cannot interfere with reality, so they create angelic bodies out of thin air to fight.
