Chapter 46: A passport to life

"Another day has come to an end..."

Eve was lying on the edge of the balcony, the afterglow of the setting sun made her face red, and some servants saw her and whispered to each other.

They say that the Phoenix princess has finally grown up, with sadness in her eyes, just like a teenage girl who is troubled by love and is looking forward to having a wonderful love affair with handsome boys... Bullshit!

Eve slammed the balcony railing hard, then walked back to the bedroom angrily. She didn't want to listen to the gossip about herself from the servants downstairs.

There must be something wrong with my life! Where did this beautiful boy come from? The only male I met was that psychopath Lorenzo.

What she was worried about was obviously the secret blood surging in her body. In Lorenzo's words, the Phoenix family must have some connection with demons. The so-called secret blood needs to be purified by alchemy. Logically, no one else except the Demon Hunting Cult would know this technology. The mystery is hovering over the Phoenix family.

Eve also wanted to talk to her father, but she heard from the butler that Duke Phoenix left for Platinum Palace after taking care of Eve and never returned since he left.

Lying on the soft bed, looking at the chandelier above her head, the warm light occupied Eve's entire vision.

More than a week had passed since that crazy night. Eve could no longer remember how she got home. Although she wanted to hide it, she fainted at the door because she was too tired.

When Eve woke up, she was lying in a familiar bedroom. Her wounds had been treated and there were guards standing at the door. Looking out the window, she saw many soldiers with guns in the empty manor.

According to the butler, Duke Phoenix was very angry, even furious. After he left, the guard level of the entire manor was raised by several levels, and Eve's freedom was restricted. She was not allowed to go anywhere before Duke Phoenix returned home.

It seems that my father is really angry this time.

Ah... so annoying.

Eve could already imagine the conversation when he came back. It would be nothing more than marrying herself to some damn island, but this time his attitude would be much tougher.

Eve turned over, hugging the quilt tightly. She didn't want it to end like this. She hoped that she could represent the Phoenix family in the Hall of Apparition. If possible, she wanted to find out what was going on with her secret blood.

It was like meeting a long-lost friend, and the nightmare she had almost forgotten since that crazy night returned again.

Eve would always unconsciously think of the scene in the nightmare, the woman wailing and struggling, she was in so much pain, and along with the pain her life was sucked out of her body, until finally the monster tore her body apart.

The memory of this nightmare was so abrupt that even Eve couldn't be sure of its truth. It seemed that human memory was truly unreliable, just like the words written on the beach, which were destined to be swallowed up by an upwelling tide, but many years later, like a prank, the things from that year were washed ashore.

The lights in the room flickered. Eve turned around and looked at the chandelier above her head. There seemed to be something wrong with the circuit. After flickering a few times, it fell into complete darkness.
