Ember’s Gun

Chapter 485: Pursue truth

Views:

Dim light fell on the Plague Doctor, his body twisted into a lizard-like shape under the surging flesh and blood. As the battle went on, fish-scale-like scales gradually formed on the surface of the scarlet muscles. It was like the reappearance of Power Medanzo, the embodiment of a characteristic of the demon.

Lawrence stood where he was and loosened his hands that had been covering his abdomen. In this short period of time, the horrific wound had been simply healed a little. At least for the time being, he didn't have to worry about his internal organs leaking out.

"I haven't taken off my mask in a long time. After wearing it for a long time, it feels like it has grown on my face and I can't pull it off even if I want to."

The doctor touched his face and felt a sharp pain, as if he had touched naked flesh and blood without the protection of skin.

"Is this what you look like?"

Lawrence exclaimed.

Neither the twisted flesh nor the proliferating scales attracted Lawrence's attention. What really frightened him was the face of the plague doctor.

Lawrence was not a literary giant, and for a moment he felt a little at a loss for words, not knowing how to describe everything he saw at the moment. At this moment he even began to wonder, was the person he had been with for so long a human who was almost a demon, or a demon with human memories

He couldn't figure it out.

"Should be... No, at least not my original appearance. I remember that I used to look pretty good, but you also know that in order to pursue the truth, you always have to pay a price."

The plague doctor looked at the pool of blood at his feet, in which his face was vaguely reflected.

Rather than saying it was a face, it was more like a head without the epidermis. There was not a single intact skin on the entire face, and it was completely covered by slowly wriggling flesh and blood. They were slightly undulating, like swimming snakes, tightly wrapping around the white bones.

The gums and pupils were completely exposed. Looking at the throat, one could clearly see the black mouth that opened up from the respiratory tract, with fishy-smelling wind coming out.

"Only when you are alive can you bear witness to the truth. When you die, there is nothing left."

The plague doctor's mouth opened up and down like a mummy, but his voice was much clearer than before, with a hoarse lingering sound.

This is why the plague doctor always wears a mask and why his clothes are always oozing with dirty blood. This is a monster disguised as a human, moving among the people.

"You merged yourself with the demon?"

Lawrence noticed the details on the plague doctor's body. The surface of the flesh was covered with dense sutures, most of which had been broken. Due to years of friction, some had been embedded in the flesh. The sense of patchwork could be clearly seen. Most of the flesh even had subtle differences in color, as if they came from different bodies.

"'Evolution' to be exact! Just like you demon hunters trying to use secret blood to make yourselves stronger, unfortunately, I didn't have the same technology as you at first, so I could only use this clumsy way to prolong my life."

As the plague doctor spoke, he pulled away the remaining strips of cloth on his body, revealing his chest and abdomen. The scars there were very fresh, as if he had just had surgery not long ago, and sharp claws were pointing back and forth on them.
