Night owls flew low in the sky, making ethereal calls. The sound echoed between the cities, hovering above the fireworks, and after a brief dispersion, fell into everyone's ears.
Garlon made way, revealing the door behind him. The deputy seemed unwilling to give up resistance, his hand still tightly grasping the dagger. Then Garlon raised his hand to stop his action.
"They won't kill adults."
Because of the pain and blood loss, Garlon's face was a little pale, but his tone was very confident, as if he was sure of this.
Lorenzo had his hand on the door, but when he heard what Garlon said, he withdrew his hand and looked at him in confusion.
"Is this why you obey? But why do you think so?"
"Because you also want to go to the Sea of Silence, right? I can sense from you that you are also a monster from the Sea of Silence, right?" Garen coughed violently, then smiled and looked at Shrike again, "And you, you desire revenge, right?"
"So... how do you get someone to give up revenge?"
Garlon looked into Shrike's eyes and questioned softly.
Without answering, or even having the time to answer, Garen slowly sat down against the wall and tightened the bandage on his ankle, which caused him to gasp in pain. He then spoke with difficulty.
"That would make him lose the pleasure of revenge..."
Shrike frowned, clenched the death knell in his hand, and pressed it against Garlon's forehead. As long as he pulled the trigger, Garlon's head would explode into a ball of bloody mist in an instant.
Garlon shook his head and looked at Shrike without fear. No matter whether he lived or died, he had nothing to lose tonight.
He looked at Lorenzo and Shrike expectantly, as if he was curious about their next reaction. Their expressions would surely be very interesting when they saw Floki's appearance.
Lorenzo glanced at Garlon, and then secret blood rose up, and dense scales covered his arms. After covering them completely, they continued to increase in value and expand, like a pitch-black kite shield blocking in front of him.
The deputy was somewhat shocked by Lorenzo's change, but Garlon had no reaction at all. After realizing that Lorenzo's aura was similar to the monster in the Sea of Silence, he seemed to accept it all easily.
"I'll open the door, Shrike."
Lorenzo had no idea what was behind the door, so he held up the scale armor on his arm and with his other hand dragged his cane sword, slowly pushing the door open, letting in a dim, flickering light.
Nothing happened. Lorenzo pushed the door open completely and everything in the room came into view.
There were no monsters or traps. Behind the door was just a simple room with plain decoration. It was hard to imagine that such a place was protected in the deepest part of the building.
If there was anything strange, there was a sickening stench in the room, a slight friction sound, and Lorenzo saw chains being dragged on the ground.
His eyes followed the chain and he finally found the end of it. Lorenzo froze, along with the Shrike following behind him.
"No... That's impossible."
