The Cathedral of San Gimignano is located on the Seven Hills.
The Templar Knights wandered around the edge of the Seven Hills and the streets within the city. Normally, these knights seldom appeared directly in front of the world, but since when, they appeared more and more frequently, and their numbers were increasing.
Someone once recalled that everything seemed to have started with the martial law in St. Naro Cathedral a long time ago. As for why the word "a long time" was used, it was naturally because such martial law lasted for too long, so long that the people almost forgot when everything became like this. Trying to recall it, it was just a blur, as if St. Naro Cathedral had been so strict from the beginning.
Rather than saying that there is a sense of distance between humans and God, it is better to say that on a certain night, the Cathedral of Sant'Anaro became a prison of the devil, and it deliberately kept a distance from the world...
"Everyone who is not involved please leave as soon as possible!"
There were soldiers shouting in the streets, and not far away were fully armed Templar Knights, who were maintaining order at the scene.
As the Pope's iron hammer, believers have always trusted them, but facing the demands of the Templars today, even if the order comes from the Pope, it is difficult for them to accept.
"No, I can't leave!"
There was a man crying and wailing like this, with blood on his forehead, and he kept kowtowing and begging for mercy.
Unfortunately, this did not change his fate. The believer was dragged away by the soldiers and thrown into the slowly moving crowd. They formed a very long team, guarded by soldiers and Templar Knights. They overflowed from the corners of the Seven Hills, gathered on the main road, and were then driven out of the holy city.
The believers were all looking forward to the day when martial law would be lifted so that they could see the magnificent church from afar, but what came afterwards was not the lifting of martial law, but a deeper purification.
"I can hold on!"
Another believer shouted, his eyes red, but he was quickly controlled by the soldiers.
As one more person started rioting, more believers began to shout together. Some of them were so extreme and crazy that they shouted blasphemous words.
"This place is invaded by darkness! They are crawling out from the shadow of God!"
Another believer had left the team at some point. He stood on a high place and shouted to everyone.
"This sacred land will be polluted! We must defend it! Until the end!"
He roared, and even though the soldiers beat him violently with sticks, he tried to struggle to his feet and continued to preach.
These words were like a crazy spell, which seemed to have touched something. Many believers who had bowed their heads slowly raised their heads, with another emotion flashing in their eyes. They clenched their fists, as if they wanted to knock down these soldiers and protect this land.
From their perspective, even if they were swallowed by darkness and died on this land, it would be the greatest honor.
"There is no darkness! God's light will always protect everything!"
The Templar Knight noticed these subtle changes and immediately shouted loudly. His voice was so loud that it struck the hearts of the believers like the sound of a bell.
This seemed to have really frightened them, and they became much more obedient, but no one knew when the restlessness hidden in their hearts would rise again.
