The sunset in Old Dunling was not beautiful. The sky was gloomy and endless steam formed a hazy dome that covered everything. The afterglow of the sun could not penetrate the layers of gloom, and in the end only a vague red tide could be seen, like a rain of fire.
The Zeppelin airship swam slowly in the clouds like a giant whale, and on the ground one could only see its dark shadow that seemed to have walked out of a myth.
Lorenzo sat comfortably in the driving seat. From the moment he changed the route of the steam tram, the group of suspects disappeared from his sight.
"Detective, we can actually work together."
Lorenzo spoke into the strong wind, not caring about Eve's situation behind him.
"Our target is that group of people. As long as we catch them, we will have the precious clues. As for what happens next, we can talk about it later. What do you think?"
Eve thought for a moment, and chose to put down the gun in her hand during the bumpy ride. Although the contact time was not long, the feeling Lorenzo gave her in this short period of time was amazing.
She had never seen such a... calm person, as if everything was under his control, deep and powerful.
"So you agree to this proposal now?"
Lorenzo had a mysterious look in his eyes, as if some secret conspiracy was brewing beneath the gray-blue.
"Lorenzo Holmes."
A name is the first step to trust.
Eve stretched out her hand hesitantly, but just as she was about to say her name, Lorenzo pulled his hand back.
"Eve Voshar, I know your name."
"How could you?"
Eve's heart immediately became alert again, and she began to regret this brief alliance.
"I'm a famous detective. This thing is very simple." Lorenzo's eyes roamed over her body.
"Brand new uniform, neat clothes, you look like a newcomer who just reported to the police station... You should really see the state of your colleagues most of the time, they are just drunkards, people like you don't fit in among them."
Like viewing an object, Lorenzo commented.
"Full of motivation, enthusiasm, and hatred of evil, you are a typical graduate, full of fantasy about the world. You love this industry and are eager to make some achievements."
Lorenzo said this and shook his head in distress.
"Another child who has been misled by embellished news. This business is not as simple as you think. It's not a world where you can just ask the criminal to raise your hands and the criminal will do so. The timid ones will turn around and run away, while the bold ones will shoot you before you can even finish your words."
His words sounded fierce and precise, at least that's how Eve sounded, but she was also a little angry, as if her secret had been revealed and exposed to the sun.
"You are still a noble, as you can tell from your necklace."
Lorenzo pointed at Eve's smooth neck and said, "There was a silver necklace with a ruby the size of a fingernail on it. It was originally hidden under her clothes, but fell out in the violent collision."
"This is not something that an ordinary noble can afford... Did you know? The police force's new recruits' list is usually marked. They will give preferential treatment to those nobles to prevent these young men from accidentally dying. You can take a look when you go back. This list is also very good. It will be posted on your bulletin board."
