Chapter 112: Movie Review

Views:

'When the filming of "The 99th Love Letter" started, I learned that Cui Xing was confirmed to play the male lead, and I have been looking forward to this movie for a long time.

Like everyone else, I was a little dissatisfied with Director Zhao's hype of the "goddess with back" in the movie. Cui Xing is my male god, and my friends who have been following me from the beginning should know this.

In my heart, I don’t think anyone is worthy of the one that my male god has a crush on.

But tonight, I was fortunate enough to be invited to attend the premiere ceremony. Director Zhao edited the original 130-minute film into less than an hour for everyone to see.

I easily entered the play following Director Zhao's camera.

In the play, Li Qingyang, played by Xingge, was born in poverty and had a low status, but he had an elegant artistic dream and often stopped in front of the piano store. With the encouragement of his childhood sweetheart, the two lovers finally got married.

If the movie was just like this, it would only mean that Zhao Rang has made another fresh literary romance film. The old-fashioned poor boy finally succeeds through hard work. Such an old routine can only be regarded as a qualified popcorn fast food movie at best, but it is not impressive.

But Director Zhao at that time was very smart to edit the film, and did not include the clip where the "Goddess with Back View" appeared. In addition, Director Zhao's bold words at the beginning of the film attracted my curiosity, and I couldn't help but walk into the cinema again.

What’s strange is that when I watched "The 99th Love Letter" for the second time, I felt different from the first time.

When the opening music of the movie sounded again, strangely, I felt a mixture of emotions. Perhaps it was because I had seen Xingge's infatuation and persistence, and Panpan's waiting. When the tune composed by Teacher Shi Jiadong with great effort was played on the piano, when I recalled the plot of the movie, I was even more impressed.

This time I got what I wanted. Following Xingge's gaze, I saw the appearance of the 'goddess from behind'. What was beyond my expectation was that the 'goddess' from behind was different from what I had originally imagined, wearing an elegant dress. But at that moment, I actually felt that the person that Li Qingyang fell in love with at first sight should be like her.

When she sat in front of the piano and played it with full concentration, I believed that at that moment she charmed not only Li Qingyang, but also me and the general public in the cinema.

That kind of temperament, even though she was not wearing gorgeous clothes, when she sat in front of the exquisite and elegant piano, she was not overshadowed by the brilliance of those beautiful works of art.

At that moment, I had the illusion that my heartstrings were being gently plucked, and I finally understood how Li Qingyang felt when he saw the "goddess".

I couldn't wait for her to turn her head, to see what she looked like, to see the expression on her face.

Unfortunately, Director Zhao cruelly switched the camera, leaving us to imagine what happened based solely on the sound.

The beauty of those few seconds is reflected in my heart, making me feel even more empathetic towards Li Qingyang's disappointment at that time.

Looking at the love letters he wrote later, seeing him confide in the goddess of his heart, seeing him muster up the courage to step into the piano store, the talented horse finally met his Bole, became a disciple of a famous teacher, and achieved success.

He still did not stop writing love letters to the goddess. He would always set aside a few days every month, and the box of love letters became thicker and thicker.

Before I saw the complete story, I felt sorry for Zhao Rong. But after I saw the complete story, I felt sorry for Li Qingyang.

I have thought more than once, if Li Qingyang had mustered up the courage that day like he did later and set foot in the piano store, would he and the goddess not have missed each other again, and would the results have been different

But I also know in my heart that this is just my own imagination.

If Li Qingyang had entered the store at that time, there would naturally be no Zhao Rong, and no movie.

The different choices people make at different times can affect their entire lives.

Li Qingyang's living environment has made him somewhat cowardly. The thin glass window could not stop his actions. What could prevent him from entering the piano store was the shackles he had set in his own heart.

In his later years, it would be more accurate to say that he was longing for the beautiful imagination in his heart rather than being obsessed with the "goddess of back view".

The goddess is just a symbol of his hope and an idea for him to strive towards his ideal.

Later, those love letters that he did not send simply represented Li Qingyang's contempt for his own cowardice back then.

Even though he later became a disciple of a famous teacher, even though he got what he wanted, the impression of the boy who hesitated in the face of his ideals always remained in his heart.

When he finally mustered up the courage and his childhood sweetheart Zhao Rong filled the void in his heart, he wrote his last love letter to his 'goddess': I'm sorry, I can't continue to love you, because I have found the happiness I have been looking for. It turns out that she has always been by my side and has never left.

When I saw this familiar subtitle again, and saw Li Qingyang being cautious, serious and pious at that time, with his eyes revealing unconcealable happiness, I felt tears in my eyes.

Some regrets are also a kind of beauty, and some are the amazing existence of the years. Just keep them in your heart and savor them slowly! Cherish the people around you, look at the scenery around you when you move forward, and don't miss the tenderness of the years. I think this is what Director Zhao wants to express.

If the premiere is a steak, then the whole movie is a table of traditional Chinese dishes cooked slowly over a long fire.

Confession to my brother Xing, my male god, your acting skills have improved.

Panpan also performed well.

But to be honest, after watching the whole movie, the existence of the "Goddess of Back" that I originally despised and least understood, ultimately left the deepest impression on me.

Even though she didn't show her face, her contribution to the film was undoubtedly huge.

Director Zhao is indeed a famous director. The existence of this role is indeed necessary. I want to apologize for my previous hasty opinion, and I admire Director Zhao for choosing this actress who does not show her face. She really fits the theme of the movie's "goddess with back view", making people feel that no one else can be competent except her.

At the end of writing this long review, I have to admit that, like Li Qingyang, I am fascinated by the 'Goddess of Back'.

At this point, my curiosity has changed from wanting to see the goddess' back to wanting to see what the goddess looks like!!!

I really pray that Director Zhao's new film "The 99th Love Letter" will gross over 100 million yuan on its first day of release, so that my goddess will turn her head around! '

Under the film review of 'Where to Go From Here', many people who have watched the film left comments:

Jin Zhao You Jiu: I couldn’t agree more. Zhao Rang’s new film has reached new heights. Cui Xing is the best in acting, Panpan is the best in love, and my goddess is the best in appearance!

Xiao Xiaobai's pursuit: Let my goddess turn her head! I hope the box office will exceed 100 million. I will go to watch it again after class tomorrow to contribute to the box office! (To be continued)
