Ethan sat in front of the window of the reading room on the second floor of the castle, looking at the distant mountains through the clear glass. Strips of lavender smoke drifted across the blue mountainside, and occasionally there were groups of some sort of flying lizard-like creatures, reflecting blue flashes in the air.
His heart was a little heavy, and he couldn't put his mind on the priceless paper book in front of him. The question he asked the housekeeper in the morning did not answer, because the bell of a visitor suddenly rang at the front door, and the housekeeper hurried to answer the door. But the moment he asked the question, the unexpected expression on the butler's face still made him guess seventy-eighty-eight.
Ethan didn't believe in ghosts before. But after so many bizarre and terrifying events, he began to feel that anything in this universe was possible. Even ghosts can be explained by certain scientific theories, such as residual brain waves, etc. And what Tanissell told him as a joke last night was not without credibility.
There must be something odd in that room.
The question is why did Tanisel put him in that room
Ethan had always known that Tanissell approached him for some purpose. Tanisel also admitted this frankly, saying that they were in a "pure mutual use relationship", but he just refused to tell him what the purpose was. And he himself felt that he had nothing to lose, so he didn't care much.
But now, he had something he was afraid of losing.
He was afraid of losing Tanisel.
He began to worry about gains and losses, and began to delusionally wonder if Taniser had moved some sincerity towards him outside of his use value
But if this purpose is finally revealed, his dream may be shattered. Perhaps you will know that the priest's kindness and protection to him is really only for that ultimate purpose, rather than caring about him a little bit.
Ethan hated being so unstable. It wasn't decided long ago, he didn't care about the priest's purpose, he just wanted a little warmth in that gloomy life that made him happy. Why are you so greedy now
"You're here." Samuel's voice suddenly sounded from the other side of the bookshelf, "I've been looking for you for a long time."
Ethan closed the book in front of him, stood up and put it back on the shelf, "What's the matter?"
Samuel leaned on the bookshelf, holding a glass of amber liquid in his hand, and raised it at Ethan, "No, Tanisel asked me to supervise your daily medicine intake."
The moment Ethan took the cup, his nose twitched slightly, and after a few sniffs in the air, his expression changed slightly, "Samuel, did you ask Tanisel for some inhibitors?"
Samuel seemed to understand what Ethan meant, and hurriedly took a step back to cover the position of the Omega gland on his neck, but he looked very calm, "No."
"No?!" Ethan stared at him for a while, then eased his tone and comforted, "It doesn't matter, you stay in the room obediently and lock the door. You can only open the door when you hear it's me, do you know?"
As he spoke, he checked the clip on his ear, and then hurried to the door of the reading room. But the arm was pulled by Samuel, "Hey, where are you going?"
"Go to the city, there must be a pharmacy selling depressants." Ethan patted the back of Samuel's hand with his other hand and comforted, "Don't worry, I'll be back soon."
"Don't make trouble, what if you are unfamiliar with this place, what if you are recognized?"
"But it's too easy to spot here."
Samuel sighed, "Ethan, I don't have to pretend anymore."
Ethan was stunned for a moment, then remembered that they were no longer in the Forbidden City, or even in the Earth Alliance.
"Tanither said I could spend my estrus here. And I really should stop taking the medicine." Samuel released Ethan's arm gently and patted his shoulder, "That's not what you said. Is that right, if the medicine is used for a long time, it will cause cancer or something."
However, Ethan still feels that his heart is hanging. This castle has a strange and gloomy atmosphere. Is it really a suitable place to be a nest
"Then... have you chosen a place to make a nest? And I remember that there are several servants in this castle who are Alpha..." Ethan lowered his head, rubbing his chin with his fingers and thinking seriously, "I can always Watching you, but if anyone wants to break in, we better have self-defense weapons at hand. I can go to the housekeeper... "
"Ethan." Samuel suddenly interrupted him and held his shoulders. With the other hand, he gently lifted his chin to make Ethan look into his eyes, "Don't worry about me, it's not that I haven't been there before. In heat. The most important thing right now is you…”
Ethan frowned, not quite understanding what he meant.
"I've lost so much, you're probably the last thing I have..." Samuel said, reaching out as if to touch Ethan's cheek.
But Ethan ducked back slightly, and gently blocked his hand like a joke, "Don't be so nauseous, it doesn't look like you at all."
Ethan spent the afternoon helping Samuel find a suitable nest in each other's room. Omegas tend to prefer narrower, closed areas, and Samuel's choice naturally became that gorgeous, tall wardrobe. Ethan brought some of the bedding from his own room and let Samuel pick out some of the ones he liked and put them in the closet. After that, he went to the kitchen and brought several large jars of clean water and food that did not need to be stored in the refrigerator in the room.
He knew that Omegas would feel very insecure during heat, so despite Samuel's objection, he went to the housekeeper and asked for a cane as a self-defense weapon.
At night, Samuel's scent was stronger, but apparently not quite in heat. The two were lying side by side on the large four-poster bed, looking at the luminous embroidery on the tent above their heads.
"Do you believe in ghosts?" Ethan said suddenly.
Samuel glanced at him. "Do you believe it?"
"I'm in this castle...sometimes I feel that way." Ethan turned to look at Samuel, "Sometimes when I'm alone in the house, I feel like there's someone else. I can even hear To the sound of his breathing..."
"'he'?"
"Well..." Ethan said hesitantly, "At first, I thought maybe I was nervous, or maybe there was something wrong with that room. But then when I was reading in the library by myself, I also felt like someone was staring at me. Feel."
"Did you tell Tanisel?"
"Say, he said I was nervous. Let me drink that sedative."
"But you don't think so?"
Ethan shook his head. "I think Tanisel's joke might be true. This castle might have a soul."
Samuel sneered, as if he heard a big joke, "Don't talk about it, do you think the stones will still be fine here?"
Ethan suddenly put his index finger to his lips and let out a soft hiss. The two fell silent for a moment, only to hear the clock ticking, ticking, ticking.
Samuel was inexplicable, "Why?"
"listen."
"Listen to what?"
Ethan pointed to his ears and pressed them to the mattress. Samuel had to follow his example and lie down a little.
"empty, empty, empty, empty, empty..."
All I heard was an irregular sound of knocking on the planks, coming from under the bed. It was as if someone was lying on their backs under the bed at the moment, with a hand outstretched, pounding on and off their wooden bed planks.
Samuel raised his head suddenly, as if not quite sure what he heard, and posted it back and listened again.
"Did you hear that?" Ethan asked quietly.
Samuel stubbornly said, "Maybe the sound of the aging pipes is coming."
"But if you feel it carefully, is our bed shaking slightly?" Ethan asked faintly.
"Hey! Don't scare me!" Samuel sat up as if he didn't believe in evil. "Damn, look under the bed and you'll know."
There seemed to be nothing under the dark bed.
Ethan pulled Samuel, who was still lying on the bedside watching, back, "Just pretend I'm talking nonsense. You have a good rest. I think you might get into the closet before dawn."
It turns out that Ethan's estimate was correct. Two hours later, Samuel's omega hormones had permeated the whole room. He hurried into the closet and huddled into a ball.
Samuel persuaded Ethan to leave when he was still conscious, saying that he could do it alone. But Ethan insisted on staying.
He couldn't imagine Omega going through heat unattended.
Ethan set an alarm for himself, watered Samuel every two hours, and ate three meals a day. Samuel's smell was particularly strong this time, and he kept making some blushing moans, which made Ethan, the Beta, feel unbearable. He was careful to watch out for Alpha Eve's servants who tried to approach Samuel's room. Every day, he sat at the door with the crutch in his hand, and even completely forgot to take the medicine Tanissell ordered.
On the second night, Taniser returned. Ethan heard a commotion outside, but didn't dare to leave Samuel's room for half a step.
After a while, Tanisel's voice came from outside the door, "Ethan, open the door."
"...No..." Ethan resisted the urge to open the door to meet the priest.
"I won't do anything to Samuel." Tanisel reluctantly persuaded outside the door, "Didn't I do nothing last time?"
"I kicked you out last time!" Ethan's attitude was firm, "You hurry up...cough cough..." Before he could finish the words, a violent uncontrollable cough made him have no time to breathe, and he couldn't stop. There was a dull pain in the chest, and the heartbeat was ridiculously fast, as if it was about to jump out of the throat.
He finally took a deep breath, feeling that saliva had been coughed up from the corner of his lips, and when he wiped it with his hand, he saw a large black area.
It was blood, his blood that was no longer bright red.
Ethan was stunned. Only then did he realize that the skin of his hands had turned blue, and his nails had turned black unconsciously, revealing an evil aura of death.
At this moment, there was a loud noise on the door, and someone was kicking the door. Ethan hesitantly looked back at the flushed-faced Samuel in the cabinet with a slightly different coquettish attitude than usual, clenched the crutches in his hand and retreated to the cabinet door.
With a bang, the door was kicked open, and Tanissell rushed in, but apparently because he smelled the strong Omega smell, he hurried back for a walk, and hurriedly covered his mouth and nose with his sleeves. He turned back and yelled at all the Alpha attendants, "Everyone get out of this corridor!"
The housekeeper himself is a Beta, so he is not affected by the smell of Omega, he went straight in and grabbed the crutches in Ethan's hand, and ordered in a majestic voice, "I will guard him, you and the young master leave here. You need to be treated immediately. ."
Ethan didn't know what he looked like at the moment. He described it as haggard, with a gray complexion, two heavy dark circles under his eyes, and his lips had begun to turn black, especially the black blood stains on his chin made him look even more haggard and weird.
Ethan turned around, staggered a few steps to the door of the room, and was immediately pulled out by Tanisel who was guarding the door. He pressed Ethan against the wall, took out an injection filled with light blue liquid from his pocket, and slammed it against the back of Ethan's neck.
Ethan let out a painful hiss, not a human-like hiss.
