Hongye Town is thirty miles south of Jianye City. If you travel at full speed, it will only take an hour.
The town is not large in area, similar to Tuji Town near Chunqiu Temple, but much more prosperous than Tuji Town. As its name suggests, the town is covered with maple leaves inside and outside. It is late autumn now, and the maple leaves are as red as flames and extremely beautiful.
A large river flows past the town. The river is called Lishui River and leads directly to the East China Sea. It is an important water transport channel for Jianye City. A large number of ships pass through here every day, making Hongye Town prosperous.
However, when Shen Luo arrived, the whole town was not very lively. The streets in the town were very deserted. Although the shops on both sides were open, there were not many customers, and the shop owners also looked very worried.
The whole town was filled with a heavy atmosphere. Even the wild cats and dogs on the street were frightened and ran away in a hurry.
Shen Luo did not stop on the street. After asking someone, he went straight to a courtyard at the east end of the town and knocked on the door, but there was no response from inside.
"Not home?" He frowned and continued knocking on the door.
"Who is it? You've been making a lot of noise outside, and you still think it's not troublesome enough?" An irritable voice came from inside the house. The door was slammed open, and an old man with gray hair walked out angrily. When he saw Shen Luo outside, he was stunned.
"Who are you?" The old man looked at Shen Luo and asked in surprise.
"Are you the head of Sun Village in this town? I'm Shen Luo, a guest of Bai Family in Jianye City, and I've accepted the mission from you." Shen Luo took out his identity token, waved it in front of the old man, and was secretly delighted.
Judging from the situation, he was the first person to arrive at Hongye Town. If he could find out the reason for the haunted thing before others arrived, he could rush over and kill the ghost first to avoid attracting attention.
"Oh, are you the guest of the Bai family? You are finally here! My surname is Sun, you can just call me Old Sun, Master Shen, please come in!" The old man said with surprise and bowed to Shen Luo.
"You're welcome, Head of the Village Sun. I came here to ask you about the whole story of this haunted incident..." Shen Luo said.
"Hey, someone arrived earlier than us, that's rare." At this moment, a voice came over.
There was a sound of footsteps, and three men in green robes came over from a distance, swaying with every step, looking quite proud.
Shen Luo turned around and glanced at the three of them, especially lingering on the green tokens hanging around their waists.
The green wood mark on the green token is the mark of the Lin family.
"Oh, it's the Bai family's guest, a unfamiliar face!" Among the three men in green robes, the leader was a short, skinny and ugly man. He looked at Shen Luo and said with slight surprise.
One of the other two was short and fat, and the other was hunchbacked. The three had similar faces and were all born extremely ugly, as if they were from the same mother.
"Shen Luo from the Bai family." Shen Luo nodded slightly.
"Shen Luo? I seem to have heard of this name. Ah! I remember now. I heard recently that a country boy came to the Bai family. Relying on his relationship with Bai Xiaotian, the eldest son of the Bai family, he became a guest of the Bai family. That person must be you." The skinny and ugly man said with disdain.
"Tsk tsk, a guy at the bottom of the list dares to take this kind of task. He must be tired of living, right? Haha!" The short, fat and ugly man glanced at Shen Luo and laughed wildly.
