Pan Weining kept his word and waited downstairs for Wen Nuan to change her glasses before sending her back to the company. Wen Nuan thanked him profusely. The next day was uneventful, except that Wen Nuan's computer had some minor problems and the wireless mouse occasionally became unusable.
To quote a catchphrase among office workers, another day passes without any major incidents.
The day when Qianyu and Yizhong signed the contract was the eve of the Dragon Boat Festival. Wen Nuan came back early in the morning, and together with Ding Xiaodai, they prepared four copies of all the information, and in between they were busy with other things. It was almost noon when all the work was done, and Zhan Nanxian's men had not shown up yet, but Zhu Linlu had already called.
"I'll pass by your company later and have lunch with you?"
"Not today. I have to sign a contract with Yizhong this afternoon. I have to wait for the boss to come back and show him everything again."
Zhu Linlu was displeased, "I really hate that you work so hard for him! Do you know that this might kill you?"
Warm smile, "Where are you?"
"Get in the car. Your company is just one block away."
Wen Nuan looked at her watch and said, "Then come over here." Just as she finished speaking, there was a sharp brake sound and Zhu Linlu's exclamation from the phone. She hurriedly shouted, "Linlu? Linlu?!" The phone call ended and only the busy tone remained.
With sweat pouring down her forehead, she grabbed her bag and rushed to the elevator, "Xiao Dai! I'm going to be out for a while, and when Mr. Zhan comes back, give him all the information! Call me if you need anything!"
She took the car and drove out at full speed. Wen Nuan's hands were shaking slightly as she gripped the steering wheel. There was only one road between them, so they should be nearby. She turned to the main road on the east side first. The traffic was smooth at the first traffic light. She didn't care whether she violated traffic regulations or not, and turned the car south.
Within a minute, she could feel the traffic slowing down. The speed of the train was like a snail. Wen Nuan was extremely anxious. She didn't care that the cars behind her would be blocked. She turned off the engine, got out of the car and ran forward. When two cars blocking the middle of the intersection and the figures of policemen in uniform came into view, her heart rose to the top of her throat and she screamed in panic, "Linlu! Linlu! Where are you?!"
Zhu Linlu, who was negotiating with the police at the rear of the car, was startled when he heard the shout, then he turned around and walked out. A figure in white had already rushed in front of him, tightly grasping his arms, and his warm voice was trembling and incoherent, "Oh my God! Oh my God! How could this happen? Are you okay? Did you hit anything?"
Zhu Linlu was silent for a moment, then he held her in his arms and said softly, "Don't worry, I'm fine. The other party was drunk and ran a red light. I was talking to you on the phone so I didn't notice it. It's just a scratch on the car. I'm fine, don't worry."
Wen Nuan shook his hand, checked his legs, and looked him over carefully. She accepted the fact that he was indeed unharmed, and her heart slowly returned to normal.
"Please move aside and go back to the roadside," the policeman who was recording the accident urged.
Another uniformed officer was directing traffic with gestures in the middle of the road, but no matter how he waved, a royal blue sports car remained motionless on the zebra crossing, facing Zhu Linlu and Wen Nuan as they approached. Under her stunned gaze, Zhan Nanxian slowly withdrew his icy gaze, the side lines of his face were cold and ruthless, as tight as a knife carving, and his lips were pursed so thinly that they were invisible.
