I Heard You’re Hard To Chase

Chapter 12

Views:

Since evening self-study had just ended, the corridor outside was still very busy.

Occasionally, a student would pass by the school infirmary, and their shadows would be reflected on the glass window, looking dim.

The National Day is coming this week and the weather has started to cool down slowly.

Jiang Xu planned to take off his coat and put it on Xie Huai.

It was already night time, and Jiang Xu was only wearing a short-sleeved shirt. If I gave him a jacket, he would definitely catch a cold in the current temperature.

"No need, you can put it on, I'm not cold." Xie Huai said quickly.

"I'm not cold either," Jiang Xu put the coat on Xie Huai without saying anything, then stood up, looked at Xie Huai, and suddenly said, "You are a patient."

"Jiang Xu, can you put it on?" Xie Huai's voice suddenly softened. "I don't want you to catch a cold."

Jiang Xu's fingertips paused, he couldn't stand Xie Huai's coquettishness anymore.

But he didn't agree.

"Listen," Jiang Xu turned around, half bent down, and said to Xie Huai, "Come up."

I don't know when it became quiet outside. It seemed that all the students had returned to their dormitories, and only a few classrooms still had lights on.

At this moment, Xie Huai heard his heartbeat getting faster and faster.

He had rarely been carried on someone's back, and that was when he was a child. As far as he could remember, no one had ever carried him on their back.

The first time I was hugged as a princess was by Jiang Xu, and even this one was by Jiang Xu.

Jiang Xu waited quietly for a while, without any impatience.

After a while, Xie Huai slowly lay on Jiang Xu's back.

Jiang Xu couldn't see Xie Huai, so he didn't see Xie Huai's red neck and ear tips. He carried Xie Huai out of the school infirmary, then closed the door and walked downstairs.

Occasionally, I would meet a few classmates who had just come out of the classroom on the way.

Jiang Xu carried Xie Huai on his back and walked towards the school gate quietly all the way.

When the wind blows, the branches of the yellow poplar tree sway in the wind, making a rustling sound and bringing some coolness.

"Jiang Xu, am I heavy?" Xie Huai gently leaned his head on Jiang Xu's shoulder and asked Jiang Xu, "Am I very heavy?"

Jiang Xu didn't stop and replied to Xie Huai calmly, "It's not heavy."

How can a person who is 1.83 meters tall not be heavy, Xie Huaixin thought.

"Are you tired then?"

"Not tired."

"Oh really?"

"Um."

"You didn't lie to me?"

"I did not lie to you."

Xie Huai smiled softly, childishly.

-

Jiang Xu sent Xie Huai back home, and then fed little Huai Huai for Xie Huai.

He walked into Xie Huai's room, closed the doors and windows for Xie Huai, then walked to the bed and looked at Xie Huai, asking him, "Do you want to stay at my house?"

"Ah?" Xie Huai didn't know if he heard it wrong or didn't understand. He opened his mouth and looked a little surprised. "I'll live in your house?"

"Well," Jiang Xu said, "your feet are inconvenient."

But Xie Huai didn't want to trouble Jiang Xu. Besides, staying overnight at Jiang Xu's house... Xie Huai felt a little embarrassed.

If you had said in the past that the relationship between him and Jiang Xu was purely brotherly, Xie Huai might not have hesitated too much, but now, he knew that he had other feelings for Jiang Xu, so he would not go.

Jiang Xu saw Xie Huai's hesitation, and he didn't want to push Xie Huai too hard, so he said, "If you don't want to go, I can pick you up tomorrow."

When Jiang Xu said this, Xie Huai immediately shook his head: "This is too troublesome. If you run around, we will both be late for school."

"Then let's go to your house." Xie Huai gave up. He didn't want to ask for leave. Now that he had finally started to attend classes seriously, he didn't want to miss those classes. Besides, he really couldn't use any strength in his feet now. It hurt when touched. It would probably take at least ten days or half a month for them to heal.

I can only trouble Jiang Xu.

"Can you take little Huaihuai with you too?" Jiang Xu held little Huaihuai in his arms and said slowly, "It's so pitiful for a dog to be alone at home, with neither of its fathers around."

Finally, when I went to Jiang Xu's house, I brought some of Xie Huai's clothes and their son Xiao Huaihuai.

There is no one at Jiang Xu's home. His mom and dad often don't come home, so it's very quiet and lonely.

He carried Xie Huai to his bedroom and gently put him on the bed.

"These are all new, you don't have to worry about that." Jiang Xu opened the wardrobe, took out a light blue towel and put it into the bathroom.

Doctor Qin prescribed some medicine for Xie Huai, but Xie Huai hadn't taken it yet tonight. Jiang Xu walked to the living room and filled a glass of warm water from the automatic water dispenser with a glass, then returned to his bedroom. Xie Huai had already divided the medicine and spread it out one by one on the palm of his hand.

"Thanks."

Taking the glass handed over by Jiang Xu, Xie Huai finished the medicine in one gulp.

Jiang Xu didn't sleep in his own room at night. The guest room in his house was not cleaned up, so he slept on the sofa in the living room for the night.

Xie Huai was lying on Jiang Xu's bed, looking at the ceiling above his head. There was light outside the window, slanting in through the glass and hitting it, causing ripples, like the glass sea of the Xisha Islands.

Jiang Xu was sleeping on the sofa in the living room just across the door. When Xie Huai thought of this, he couldn't fall asleep.

Jiang Xu said that the sheets and quilt covers were new, but when Xie Huai smelled them, he found a faint scent of grass and wood, exactly the same smell he had smelled on Jiang Xu's school uniform before.

He was not sleepy at first, but after smelling it, he gradually became sleepy and he didn't even know when he fell asleep.

The next morning, Jiang Xu was already up at daybreak. He prepared breakfast and put it on the table before calling Xie Huai to eat.

Little Huaihuai had also gotten up a long time ago and was running around Jiang Xu until Jiang Xu poured goat milk into little Huaihuai's bowl, then he stopped.

It was almost seven o'clock when the two finished breakfast. After the school adjusted the schedule, they had morning self-study at 7:40, and there were still 40 minutes left for class.

Jiang Xu packed up and went to school carrying Xie Huai on his back.

The incident yesterday was getting more and more serious. Not long after Xie Huai arrived in the classroom, not only did his classmates come up to him and ask "Does it hurt?", "Does it still hurt?", "Is it really okay?", but students from other classes also came over to show their concern for him.

Jiang Xu sat in his seat. Some people wanted to come in to see how Xie Huai was doing, but he just sat next to Xie Huai and refused to let them in.

"I'm really fine. I'm much better now." Xie Huai answered their questions one by one. After a few minutes, Xie Huai no longer wanted to speak.

"When did I become so popular in school?" Xie Huai felt strange.

As soon as Lu Yi came to the classroom, he saw Xie Huai sitting in his seat. He immediately dropped his schoolbag and ran towards Xie Huai.

"Brother Huai, are you okay?" Lu Yi looked worried, then cursed, "Fuck you, he didn't kick that bastard Yuan Tao to death, but he has such a high and mighty face, and he really thinks that no one can do anything to him."

Jiang Xu's face turned a little colder, but Xie Huai didn't notice. He asked Lu Yi, "Did this matter come to any conclusion?"

"I think he'll be fired," Lu Yi said. "This incident has caused a big stir. Our school has a forum that hasn't been used for hundreds of years. Yesterday, the server crashed. All the comments were cursing Yuan Tao."

Lu Yi added: "I just felt good after watching it. He deserved it. If I had known earlier, I should have been more serious. If I had been less strict, he would have gotten away with it."

Xie Huai sighed: "If I hadn't been unable to get up at that time, I would have wanted to kick him too."

Xie Huai's ankle was not as red as it was yesterday. When Lu Yi saw it, he started to curse at Yuan Tao again.

After school at noon, Jiang Xu first brought the food and other things back to Xie Huai, and then disappeared. Xie Huai didn't know where Jiang Xu had gone, so after eating, he simply lay down on the desk and fell asleep, waiting for Jiang Xu to come back.

It was almost time for class to start and Jiang Xu finally came back.

"Where have you been?" Xie Huai asked.

Jiang Xu's tone was very calm: "He was fired."

Xie Huai looked at Jiang Xu, propped up his face and asked: "How do you know?"

"He said so himself."

Xie Huai raised his head suddenly: "Did you go to see him at noon?"

"Well," Jiang Xu said, "he came to me and wanted to ask if you could plead for him."

Then Xie Huai heard Jiang Xu sneer: "He ran away before my feet even touched him."

"Trash, is he worthy of it?"
