Chapter 49: Snakes and eagles fight

One snake and one person returned to the cave, and the food was all there. Bai Qingqing had rice in a bamboo tube, but she had no appetite.

Curtis said: "Let's go, just put the rice here to prevent it from getting wet."

"Um."

As soon as he stepped out of the cave, a black shadow quickly passed across the ground.

Bai Qingqing immediately raised her head and looked up at the sky against the sunlight. She saw a huge black eagle hovering in the sky, staring at them sharply. Suddenly, the black hawk swooped down and let out a high-pitched cry.

"Chirp!"

Curtis pushed Bai Qingqing into the cave, and his upper body turned into a snake shape.

The black eagle was so fast that it swooped down with the force of falling to the ground. However, Curtis avoided its attack in a cunning manner, and swept the snake's tail violently, sweeping the eagle away.

Bai Qingqing's heart was beating fast, and she pressed against the stone wall, trying to sneak out. Curtis did not look back, and blocked Bai Qingqing's path with a flick of his snake's tail, blocking her in the hole.

"Hiss~" The round snake head spit out a scarlet letter, and its bloody eyes stared coldly at the black eagle on the other side.

Moore flapped his wings and flew up, glanced at the female behind the snake beast, and rushed over with another loud cry.

Curtis naturally understood the purpose of the eagle beast's cry. The leopard beasts were all nearby and should be on their way.

He wasn't afraid of these orcs, he was just worried that he wouldn't be able to keep the female and would be snatched away by them.

Curtis wanted to fight quickly and retreated slightly, secretly gathering momentum. When the opponent flew into his attack range, Curtis suddenly attacked, his upper body flew out at a speed invisible to the naked eye, and bit the black hawk in one bite.

"Gah!" Black Eagle let out a shrill scream, the sound so sharp that it felt like a needle was piercing the brain.

Moore had no idea that the four-striped snake beast was so fast and could be said to be invincible in close combat. The eagle's natural acumen allowed him to instinctively avoid the vital points, but he was only bitten on the chest.

Moore used his sharp claws to attack the snake beast, and was finally able to get rid of the snake's mouth on his chest. He flew out in a panic and stumbled to rest on a branch.

The overbearing snake venom made him dizzy, making it difficult to stand, and his blurred vision captured clusters of yellow flowers.

"Ouch!" The leopard beasts finally rushed back.

Curtis rolled up Bai Qingqing with his snake tail, turned his upper body into a human form, hugged Bai Qingqing and flowed into the river.

The leopard beast soaked in the water tried its best to catch up, but could only watch helplessly as the snake beast led the female further and further away. After watching the snake beast turn a corner, they completely lost track of the snake beast.

It was night again, and a fire broke out somewhere in the woods.

Bai Qingqing huddled by the fire to keep warm. It was obviously very hot in the tribe, but here she always felt cold, as if she was not in the same season.

"Curtis." Bai Qingqing said softly.

Curtis looked at Bai Qingqing's back and moved closer to the fire. The firelight illuminated his black and red snake tail, making his skin crack and tingle.

"Is that eagle okay?" Bai Qingqing asked, her arms around her legs tightened, feeling uneasy.

"He will die." Curtis said concisely.

Bai Qingqing turned back excitedly, looked at Curtis and said, "Why? He was fine just now, but he flew away."

Bai Qingqing's face was pale, and her eyes were sore and hot. She raised her head and forced back tears.

Curtis touched Bai Qingqing's head, thinking that females are kind and soft-hearted, which made him very confused.

What's so strange about death? How to survive without killing? Besides, don’t females also eat meat? Why are you still crying because the other person died
