Light In The Deep Alley

Chapter 38

After getting off the car, Jiang Ji held Qin Qingzhuo's uninjured arm and took him all the way to the emergency room, to see the doctor, to pay the fees, and to take X-rays. He didn't say much during the process, but he kept walking very fast.

After the filming, the two of them sat on chairs in the hospital corridor. Perhaps because the initial severe pain had passed or because the body had adapted to the pain, Qin Qingzhuo finally felt that time was not so unbearable.

He turned his head to look at Jiang Ji who was standing beside him. Jiang Ji's arms were bent on his thighs, his upper body leaning forward, staring at the ground in front of him in a trance. His brows were furrowed, the lines of his jaw were tense, his two thin hands were twisted together, and the veins on the back of his hands were bulging, showing that he was full of worries.

Thinking back to the time when Jiang Ji was sitting on a high stool at the bar not long ago, singing "Falling into My Dream" with ease, Qin Qingzhuo sighed very lightly, looked at him and said, "What are you thinking about?"

Jiang Ji's eyelashes trembled, and he turned his head to look at Qin Qingzhuo, then he sat up straight, leaned back on the chair, and looked away: "I was wondering why you helped me block that attack. If I was the one who was injured now, maybe I wouldn't be so tormented now."

"Are you blaming yourself, Jiang Ji? It's my business whether I block it or not. You don't have to take the responsibility on yourself. But..." Qin Qingzhuo paused and asked, "Why don't you hide?"

After a moment of silence, Jiang Ji whispered, "I have no reason to hide."

Qin Qingzhuo sighed, not knowing what to say.

There were not many patients in the hospital in the early morning, and the X-ray results came out very quickly. A staff member leaned out and said, "The report and results have been sent to the doctor. You can go over now."

Qin Qingzhuo responded, thanked him, stood up and walked towards the clinic with Jiang Ji.

In the clinic, the doctor sitting behind the computer was a middle-aged man in his forties. Hearing the footsteps, he glanced at the two people walking in through the door.

Qin Qingzhuo walked over and sat opposite the doctor, while Jiang Ji stood beside him.

"Your arm," the doctor looked at the X-ray results on the screen and then raised his eyes to look at Qin Qingzhuo, "Has it been injured before?"

Qin Qingzhuo said "hmm".

"From the X-ray, it seems that the bones are not injured this time." After the doctor said this, Qin Qingzhuo breathed a sigh of relief.

"Show me your arm so I can take a look at the wound," said the doctor.

Jiang Ji, who was standing nearby, leaned over and helped Qin Qingzhuo roll up his sleeves.

The wounds caused by the iron pipe were already swollen and purple, and some parts had even begun to turn black, which looked shocking at first glance.

The doctor came over from behind the desk and carefully examined the injury on Qin Qingzhuo's arm. He asked him to move his wrist and elbow and said, "It's swollen quite badly. Although the bones are not injured, it's enough for you to suffer. I'll prescribe some blood circulation and blood stasis medicine for you. However, it will take at least a week or two for this level of swelling to completely disappear. Go back and apply more hot compresses and rest more."

"Okay, thank you." Qin Qingzhuo said.

After the doctor sat back at his desk, he wrote something on the medical record. Jiang Ji, who had been standing silently behind Qin Qingzhuo, spoke up: "Will it affect the flexibility of the fingers?"
