She should have stayed in Country M to deal with the next matters.
Her family asked her to go back overnight, so Elena had no choice but to leave the mess behind and go back to the island.
"Miss, we're here." The driver cautiously spoke through the rearview mirror to remind the woman who was resting with her eyes closed in the back seat.
Elena slowly opened her eyes, turned her head and saw the familiar manor outside the car window, responded softly, suppressed the tiredness on her face, and picked up her bag.
The driver got out first and opened the door for her, and Elena got out of the car effortlessly.
She met her parents outside who had also just arrived.
Elena's eyebrows jumped and she walked over.
"Dad, Mom."
She was a little confused: "Why are you here?"
The lady in a tea dress came down carrying a delicate little handbag and saw her baby daughter. Mrs. Hill couldn't hide her joy and took her hand.
"Baby, let mommy take a good look at you."
She stroked Elena's face with her nail polish-painted hand, unable to hide her distress and said, "Is it hard out there? Look at how thin your face is."
Elena took her hand and shook her head: “Mom, why did you come to my aunt’s place?”
"Your aunt asked us to come." Her father was a middle-aged, overweight man, not as well maintained as Mrs. Hill. His bulging belly and swollen eyes could tell his age at a glance.
Mrs. Hill took over: "Yes, your aunt called us and asked us to come over."
She asked Elena in confusion: "Baby, why are you here too? When did you come back? You didn't even come home. Your dad and I didn't even know you were back."
"I just landed, and my aunt asked me to come back and said she wanted to find me, so I came here first. I thought I would go back in the evening, so I didn't tell you. I wanted to give you a surprise." Elena heard the complaints in her tone, and was still thinking about why Elena Wo suddenly asked her to come back. "You are so thoughtful." Mrs. Hill smiled, took her arm affectionately and pulled her inside.
Elena listened to her absent-mindedly all the way until the three of them arrived in the living room and saw that many elders in the house were there.
Elena straightened her back and vaguely sensed a hint of something unusual.
"Your sister is here too." Mrs. Hill saw so many people coming in, and then saw her little daughter moving among the crowd like a hostess, greeting and arranging the elders of the family. Her beautifully made-up face suddenly darkened, and she whispered angrily, "Look at her like that, if you don't know, you would think she is someone else's daughter!"
After her reminder, Elena also noticed the green-haired girl who was at ease among the elders, and a sense of crisis arose in her heart.
Before she could narrow her eyes.
The young girl who was talking to a family elder seemed to sense the gaze she was casting at her and looked over at her.
Elena received undisguised contempt and provocation from her eyes.
She is easily irritated.
Just about to look down.
Erin Waugh came out.
“Patriarch.”
“Patriarch.”
Irene Wo was wrapped up tightly from head to toe, wearing black all year round. Today she was dressed in black from head to toe as well. With her hair meticulously combed back, she looked like a Taoist nun who had seen through the world, rather than taking the ambitious position of the head of a clan.
“Patriarch.”
Wherever she went, all the members of Irene's family were willing to submit and lowered their proud heads to show their respect for the visitor.
