Cindy shook his head. "The way he grabbed my arm was not trying to comfort me. He was actually dragging me away."

"Where will he take you?" Gloria asked.

"I don't know," she said. "Someone came in and called his name. I left him and ran out."

"You have to tell Garrison," Gloria said. "This may help the investigation."

"He did nothing wrong," Cindy said, biting his lip. "It's just a feeling."

"The priest is creepy," I murmured in the pillow.

"If Raphael knew I would be hurt, why would you send me there?" Cindy asked. "The church is only two blocks away from where Cooper was shot. Raphael knows exactly what he is doing."

"Are you sure Gabriel won't hurt you?" Gloria asked me.

I snorted. "If he really wanted to save me, you would think he would say something before I was almost beheaded."

"But if they are angels," Cindy said.

Gloria interrupted her. "The fact that they have wings does not mean that they are angels."

"You know," I said. The shadow of an idea in my mind freezes. "If we want to know what happened to the angels, I know who we can ask."

Cindy pinched my leg. "Who?"

"Rachel."

"Do I look like yín**?" I pulled on that short skirt. The skirt was too high and my thighs were almost lifted up. After a good, long sleep, I lost most of the night and the next day, and I woke up in a much better mood. Even better, I woke up with a plan.

We were at Gloria's house, a one-story brick pile. Unlike my community, all these houses are the same. I imagined that they all have three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a DúLì garage and a decent courtyard. Ally, Gloria and I are here because we know we can speak freely without being heard.

In Gloria's bedroom, they put on Ellie's high heels, black skirt and tight shirt. This shirt brings magic to my chest. My hair is falling in the raging waves. Allie looked at a lot of eyeliner, so I thought it was strange. This may be because the makeup I wear every day is lip balm. If I feel fat, I use mascara.

"You need to look like that horn," Allie said. "Just a girl hanging out with friends."

"I know, I know. I have to make myself look like I'm going to a party instead of leaving town. I want them to think I'm using my suspension to release myself."

Ellie handed me a shoulder bag that might have been mistaken for a large wallet. "This is all you get."

I opened the upper part of the black bag to look inside. I have a stack of cash, a toothbrush, deodorant and clean underwear. I also have a different, more decent shirt.

"If I gave you a bigger bag, it would be too obvious," she said. "Just use what you have."

"There must be $00 here." I only go one night," I said. Of course, unless I am arrested for murder, this is the rest of my life.

"I poured your piggy bank into the coin star machine. If any of us takes out a large sum of cash now, it looks too suspicious."

"I advise you not to use the camera in public," Gloria added.

"You basically want me to drive there directly, using only cash?" I asked. "And stay away from sight."

"I will go with you, but they will look forward to it," Allie said. "Go to the funeral and come back soon."

Well, maybe I didn't tell Ellie the truth. Yes, I sneaked out of the city to attend my mother's funeral. I also plan to take a detour to St. Louis so I can ask Rachel. St. Louis is only an hour away from my mother's house. I can do both.

Gloria said nothing.

"You guys watch too much TV," I said, trying to keep my tone casual. "I don't think they are monitoring my every move. I am not the most wanted criminal of the FBI."

"Be careful," Allie said. I don't like the sad look she gave me. Ever since I made up my mind to leave, she has been looking at me with the same pitiful eyes.

"Cheer up, okay?" I'll be back," I said.

"You go there one night, one day with Danny, but try to come back before five o'clock so that you can go home before dark. If we are lucky, they will think they just lost in one day You. No harm, no foul."

I adjusted my breasts, just like I saw Eve do. I have to admit, this is a great trick. "Don't worry. I promise it will be soon."

"The direction is in your bag," Allie said, in a new, destructive tone. She bit her lip.

"Are you sure you want to go? That woman did nothing for you."

"I have to see Danny," I said, my heart aching. "I want to know who will take care of him. This is the only thing I can do."

But what should I say to him is the real problem. I think I should apologize for missing most of his childhood. I always thought my mother told him that I was dead, but it turns out that he always knew. What excuse did she give him when I was away? What lie did she lie to the child

I looked in the mirror again. "I can't walk in high heels" I mean, if something goes wrong, I can't run fast in high heels. There must be a problem, right? I can't escape from the town, avoid the authorities, visit a patient of God, nor can I expect any drama to happen.

After exchanging a pair of gray sneakers and a pair of blue sneakers with high heels, I sorted out my escape bag to make sure I had everything. Gloria sent us to the car and gave me another squeeze. She didn't say anything, her face was golden under the street lamp.

On the cold autumn night, I was shaking and wearing my short skirt, I climbed into the car, and the second Ellie opened the door. When we drove out, the headlights illuminated Jǐng's car. Two pairs of sharp eyes stared back at us, like raccoons in a trash can.

While Gloria was waiting for us to leave in her driveway, I gave her a small wave.

Jǐng turned around and followed us. "Surprise, surprise."

Allie's dark eyes glanced in the rearview mirror. She drove directly to the warehouse, and Jǐngcha was following us. She didn't talk to me again until she parked the car in the parking lot behind.

"Do you have a driver's license?" she asked.

"Of course." Everything is mine. I feel that I will always be under the line that you must be so high above. Going to a place without an ID is not an option for me.

"Okay." She grabbed the steering wheel and tried to turn it into her hands because Jǐng's car was next to us in the dark parking lot. They stay on the right, probably for a good, uninterrupted view of the entrance. Not cautious at all. Allie did not look away from them. She spoke again. "You don't need to do this. Seriously, we can give your mother a bunch of flowers."

"I want to go," I said. I need to know more. "You can't make up a funeral."

Waiting to be killed or completely irrational is not an option. The deaths of Brad Stroom, Atlanta, and the replacement agent with Eve’s accomplices were beyond my control, but I did control my illness. I messed up things. I have hallucinations. If I did not actively see these angels, the situation would get worse. So I can't do anything about investigations and murders, but I can definitely deal with angels and spend my energy to figure out if I'm crazy.

Then Daniel.

Ellie pushed the hair behind my ears to the dangerous approach. "Please don't go. I feel the worst."

"I'll be careful," I promised, the intimacy of the black car pressed tightly on me, drawing my attention to small things that I usually don't notice. She breathed softly. The heat of it on my cheeks. The smell of her shampoo.

Ai Li looks so beautiful in the dark, with only the orange light of the street lamp, and her cute little ears and eyes have changed from black to golden. I found myself close to her and smelled the mint. I feel warm and dizzy because of this. I wanted to kiss her, but I stopped. Ellie told me not to confuse her, that's exactly what she meant.

I opened my eyes, completely unaware that I had closed my eyes when I approached, and she was there. Her long eyelashes collected the orange light, and she waited for me to act. Despite this invitation, I still know better. I know it's best not to hurt one of the most important people in my life, because I swayed a promise I could never give her in front of her, like a cat toy.

"I love you," she said. This is not the first time she has said this.

"I love you too," I said. I was serious. I pressed myself on the door of the car and pushed myself out of the car with the only little restraint I had.

At the entrance of the attic, a tall girl with long hair stretched out her hand. "Please show your ID card"

I took it out of the bag and tried to get the stuff inside.

She put it under the neon sign in the attic at the door. She was satisfied and handed it to me with two fingers. "Five yuan." Maybe I put on so much makeup and look older.

I gave her cash. She pushed open the heavy metal door as if it were as light as cotton candy.

The club is full of smoke, shadows and flashing lights. A complete prism is spinning through the air, and the guided sphere on the ceiling seems to dominate the trajectory of the line. If Ellie or anyone else said a word to me, I would not hear it. Rather than thumping chest bass and high-tech music, the repeated waves in the room.

Ellie took my hand and urged me to leave the door. We walked towards the girl's bathroom, which was the only place quiet enough to talk. Aumbury and Kayla, Ellie’s former working friends, were already in the bathroom when we came in. (To be continued) (End of this chapter)
