Chapter 199: Greed (3)

We don't know that these aliens also possess other kinds of weapons, nor do we know their abilities. Just because they always used noise and lights to announce their arrival before, it doesn't mean they have to do so. Noise and lights may be just a threatening tactic, as far as I am concerned, this tactic is very effective. Maybe they took Cade away. Maybe they know that we are here waiting for us to expose ourselves.

I took a step back from the side of the road and began to look for the night around us, not knowing how many I had counted. Are they outside? Hunt us, follow us? Are they still near us now? I have no plans to leave CapitaLand, but he has been away much longer than he should. He believed that I would persevere and take them to a safe place.

"Bethany..." Abby started.

"Wait another five minutes," I whispered.

"But he has gone..."

"Wait another five minutes, Abby."

"Listen, I know you don't want to leave your lover, but they may be close to us now," Jenna muttered.

I cast an angry look at Jenna, slapped my sides with my hands. "Wait another five minutes!" I growled.

She glared at me as she changed her position. I turned back to the road and started counting again. One more time to two hundred, and then we have to go. We must do this. Fifty six... Fifty seven... Fifty ei... Moving rustling trees in the middle.

I held my breath and walked forward quickly, hoping to explode in my heart. Everything was calm again, when Cade appeared from Yin's shadow. The flood flooded me and my legs began to tremble; since he left, I was able to really breathe for the first time. Cade knelt on the side of the road, his hands on the ground searching for us. I took enough steps forward to expose myself to him in the dim moonlight illuminating the road. He raised his hand for us to pass.

"Let's go," I whispered.

"Wait!" Jenna blurted out.

"We must leave while it is still safe."

"Outside?" She died.

I decided to learn from Cade's book. "Then stay here. Let's go, Abby, now."

Jenna's mad gaze flicked, but when Abby walked towards me, she did not protest any more. I carried the duffel bag on my shoulder and bowed under the weight of the duffel bag. Considering that CapitaLand carried it easily, it was much heavier than I expected. I straightened my shoulders and rushed to the road. Abby followed me closely, and Jenna followed me reluctantly.

We walked hard through the woods with our heads down, our shoulders drooping. Now, I have more insect bites than freckles, and I have given up trying to get rid of them. We managed to sleep for a while, but didn't sleep much. During the first hour of our walk, Jenna was more fierce than usual. Thankfully, she finally calmed down.

"How far do you think?" Abby asked.

"One mile, maybe two miles," Cade answered absently.

Not far away, I kept telling myself. One hour at most, provided that the terrain becomes rugged, which I did not expect. Or I hope it will not happen. At least there is no garbage dump between us and the gas station. I lowered my head, my feet trembled, and my legs were weak, but I persisted. We can all.

Although trees block the sun most of the time, the heat during the day makes people feel unbearable. I began to feel like a withered dandelion, even though the sea breeze was blowing the leaves on the tree.

I was so focused on my pain, I didn't notice that Cade had stopped until I hit him. While studying the woods, he pushed me behind him with his arms. His body was taut like a bowstring, trembling because of the tension. I looked around and frowned. There are two squirrels sitting on the tree, so I don't think the aliens are nearby, but something has caught Cade's attention.

The obvious crackling sound of a twig made me jump. Jenna and Abby huddled beside us. A squirrel crossed the branches of one tree, jumped into another tree, and then disappeared into the woods, causing a small noise. Is it to avoid approaching aliens or other invisible things

"Abby? Bethany?"

I turned around in the direction that the sound came from. "Ayden?" I'm dead.

He stared at us as if we were a group of circus actors walking around Zhou Rì in underwear. I know we look terrible. Our clothes are covered with dirt; Abby’s facial features are covered with dirt and mud. Her coffee hair is now black, and there is a tangled mouse nest. Jenna’s Strawberry Hair also has a much darker face; she braided her hair before going to the junkyard so that it wouldn’t be as horrible as I and Abby did. My own honey hair has now turned into a horrible brown hair.

No wonder Aiden has a hard time recognizing us under the surface of the dirt.

As soon as I saw him, I couldn't help smiling all over my face. No matter what happened on the bridge, he still seemed a little anxious or shocked. His golden hair stood upright, and there were burn marks on the pale skin of his arms, neck and face. But he is much cleaner than us, and I am sure he smells much better.

Abby yelled happily and ran towards him. Aiden grinned and stretched out his arms to greet her. I followed her, but when I walked to them, Aiden's nose was already wrinkled, and when he pulled back, his lips curled up. "Damn, Abby, you smell disgusting!" he cried.

I strode halfway and stopped, and couldn't help laughing out loud. He turned to me and stretched out his arms. "I don't smell much better," I assured him.

"I do not care."

When I walked into his warm embrace, my laughter stopped. Although he was brave enough to hug me, it didn't last long. Abby and I left a stain on the front of his shirt. "Are you okay?" I asked.

"Yes."

"Bright, Molly?" My voice screamed, and I could barely breathe, waiting for his answer.

Aiden grinned at me. "They are fine," he assured me. "Brett is on the road across from the gas station, and Molly is on the road next to the gas station, standing guard for you."

Cade and Jenna got closer, but they still stayed behind us. "What happened?" Jenna asked.

Aiden's eyes darkened, and a sad expression enveloped his face. "I really don't know. Just when we were about to reach the bridge, everything turned into a mess." His gaze moved away from us, and he seemed to focus on the things that neither of us could see. "The one with us, he was in front. When the light hit him..." Aiden's voice became tense, and a slight tremor passed through his body. "The edge of the light seemed to ignite him from the inside out."

When he said these words from the inside out, my mouth was dry. I found Cade instinctively and grabbed his hand. "The fire actually came out of his mouth." Aiden trembled, his eyes returned to us. "I can feel it squirming in my body. I can feel it licking my vagina and burning through my body. Thankfully, although everyone else is trapped by the beam, we haven't gotten far enough. Completely trapped by the beam. The three of us were able to break free and run. I didn't even know where we were until we managed to reach the other side of IHOP."

Abby plunged into his embrace again. I let go of Cade and put my arms around both of them. "Thank God you are okay," I whispered.

"You too," he said with a smile. "Judging from your expression, your life is not easy."

"It's terrible," Abby agreed.

"Let's go to other people, and you can tell us everything. In the past few days, we have found a place to live. I will take you there first, and then I will fetch it."

It's still not hot or cold when I take a shower, but I don't care, it's still amazing. I wiped myself very clean, and my skin was red and cracked. I applied conditioner to my hair, hoping to help me sort out the terrible mess in my hair.

When we entered the basement apartment, we managed to find some clothes, but they were all men's clothes. I don't care, I would rather walk around naked than wear my disgusting dirty clothes. My old clothes are still in the trash bag, but I can still smell them. Either the stench really permeated my skin forever. It's just this thought that makes me scrub myself again, it becomes painful to do so, but I don't care.

In order to keep some hot water for Cade, I finally got rid of the pleasant splash. I am wearing a loose T-shirt and extra-large pants. I used a belt to tie my waist and rolled up the bottom of my jeans. It took me a while, I kept cringing and cursing, but I finally untied my hair, let it drape over my shoulders, and came back.

Instead of picking up the garbage bag containing my clothes, I opened the door and kicked it out. Just like football, I bounced it back and forth in the hall. I kicked it to the other two bags next to the kitchen. There is no stove, only a bakeware is placed next to the microwave. I don't know if the house above is the parents of the person who used to live here, but the entrance to the house has been blocked, and the bulkhead is the only way in and out.

There are no windows in the basement, but only one light was turned on when we went in. The lamp is in a small living room at the end, in which there is a dilapidated sofa and a dilapidated armchair that looks very attractive. I sat down on the chair, and after a few seconds I like to be alone, I realized how comfortable the padding in my arms is. Cade slid down the hall and walked to the shower room.
