Chapter 2: The Guardian of Satan (2)

"Except for bruises, there seems to be nothing unusual," she said. Elspeth noticed a strange birthmark on Van Fan's right forearm. This mark has the appearance of a star. Elspeth rolled his eyes three times, and then lay on her pillow. "Go to sleep, Fan Fan," she whispered.

Elspeth heard the sound of a horse running towards the front of the house. The lights of several flashlights flickered on the windowpanes on both sides of the front door. Her father left the house with a sword in his hand and closed the door behind him.

The sounds threatened each other outside, the horses stomped and neighed, and Elspeth heard the piercing sword sound and battle cry during the battle.

Her mother walked to the window and stared into the darkness outside. She ran back to the children, her face distorted with pain and fear. She once again forced Van Fan into Espeth's arms. Her mother grabbed the water in the bucket and threw it on the burning ashes in the fireplace, and then let out a cloud of steam hissing into the room. She wrapped her skirt in her hands. Get up, go behind the fireplace, and push the small iron door into the chimney to remove the ashes.

"Elspeth, take Fanfan over!" She screamed, grabbing the iron handle with one of her long skirts and forcing it to open. The coal steamed and the room was full of heat.

"But what about mom, dad? We must..."

"Dad is gone," she choked, grabbing Elspeth by the shoulder, trying to tell her the truth. "While it's still too late, let's go! Remember to protect your brother's safety!"

She led the girl and her brother through the steam cloud, through the small door, Elspeth squeezed past, and appeared in the wet night sky with Fan Fan.

In the house, a few lightly armored soldiers appeared under the lintel and pushed the door open. Elspeth's mother emerged from the white steam cloud, holding an iron rod in her hand. Those people were brandishing their swords, and she saw her husband's blood splashed on the blade, "Henry." Her hand was holding the iron rod tightly, "What do you want from us?"

The soldiers walked past the split wood, holding their swords in front of them, and they kicked over the tables and chairs to clear the way for the next victim. When she whispered: "Help us, Lord Shadai." She raised her voice high, her hands trembling, and she did her best to avenge her beloved.

Fanfan's fear kept him silent, and he hugged his sister tightly to survive. When Elspeth walked out of their simple cabin in her pajamas, her feet were on the icy wet grass.

The trees around Salem were right in front of them, covered with thick thorns. Fan Fan looked over his sister's shoulder and saw some creatures, just like what he had seen before, burrowing out of the surrounding trees. The demons entered their villages through the air. Some looked like wolves, some looked like humans, and some were indescribable monsters created by the worst nightmare of mankind—scientific name: Nightmare.

When Van Fan looked at Espes' shoulder, he saw the village burning behind them. The outline of the crazy villager raged in the fire, and then fell down in front of the rider like wheat. Fan Fan turned to see where they were going, and found a devil coming towards them on the tree in front. The creature's mouth was full of foam, and its long claws stretched out like eagle claws, reaching out to its prey. Fan Fan panted heavily and closed his eyes.

The devil passed through them and moved on, unaware that the girl and the boy were escaping from the encircling net above the village. Elspeth escaped the carnage behind them, the thick bushes tore at her thin pajamas, but nothing could slow her pace. Fan Fan heard his neighbors and friends being slaughtered like cattle at night, and heard screams of extreme pain. A voice came from the house behind them.

"Mom?" Fan Fan whispered.

Elspeth stopped, turned around, and covered her mouth tightly. Tears flowed from her face, and she ran into the night.

Salem village was burned down, and residents were massacred in the streets. The devils, wearing black leather armor and crimson leather armor, walked through the ruins of the burning village, looking for those left behind that they might have missed. The devils glide through the air to search.

A half-human demon appeared in front of the warlord Morey, sitting on his black horse. The broad sword worn on the breastplate of the armor he designed lay horizontally on his thigh and was baptized with the blood of the citizens of Salem. He wears a black helmet on his head, with only determined eyes showing on it. His eyes burned with anger—the desire for power was never satisfied, "Master Mo, we did not find any other children in the village," a wolf-headed devil reported.

Morey listened, the scream became quieter now, "So, did you kill Satan's guardian?"

"If he is among the children, then he must be dead, my master," said the devil.

"If he is still alive, then the effect of my invasion will fall short!"

"I understand, my lord, he is dead, and our invasion will not be hindered."

"What about the others?" he asked.

"We did not leave a person alive, my lord. Even the wounded were killed."

Morey said: "You must make sure of this." I don't want to leave anyone who may oppose me. Tomorrow, the Nord House will collapse. I will lock up their king, summon your devil army, and tell Jericho is ready to fight. "

The devil hurriedly bent down towards Morey and flew out quickly.

The warlord investigated the cruel scene again and smiled. "Tonight will always mark a heavy blow, ending Satan's rule on earth."

Another new rì came out. Elspeth and Fan Fan didn’t know how many people they had met. She didn’t even know how many days they had been walking. Her feet blistered long ago, and now they are forming calluses, Fan Fan. Fan walked to her, followed her, and then fell a few steps behind when different things caught his attention. "The weather is already very hot," he said. "Do we still have water?"

Elspeth brushed her tangled hair from her face. "I gave it to you last night."

Fanfan fell behind again, "But I'm thirsty. Can't we find another city and let others give us money?"

"The soldiers are in the city now."

"Not the last one," he complained.

Elspeth shook his head. "No, but it will be soon."

"What do they want, Elspeth? Why are they killing?"

She looked back at her brother, he hurried to catch up, she remembered the mark on his arm. They want you, she thought, but she didn't dare to say it, Fan Fan would not understand. Her mother and father once told her the meaning of this imprint, however, she only understood half of the meaning. "It doesn't matter what they want, Fan Fan, we just can't be discovered by them." A sign appeared on the road ahead, "There is a small town!" Fan Fan reported. (To be continued) (End of this chapter)
