Chapter 242: Accident (7)

"Where is she now?" When the army general, Alec, stood right in front of me, I casually sorted out the papers on the table. "You put a tracker on her, didn't you?"

"Yes. We followed her to Savannah Street and the signal was interrupted. It rained heavily that night. We have reason to believe it damaged the tracker."

"Didn't you still send someone to follow her?"

Eric nodded. Even under my inquiry, his face remained calm. He has been a lieutenant since I can remember, too loyal to express in words. Makes me doubt his ability will definitely hurt him. "Yes. She is in Orland but safe. I have someone with her now."

"Very good. I want a detailed report on her recent actions."

I squinted at Captain Jǐng Guard. This man is not very fat, but he is in good shape and has more scars than anyone else. But now that I am a king, I must maintain my authority, even if it means that I will not make any friends.

"Of course, Your Majesty."

"Did she get the amulet back?"

Alec shook his head. "No. She hasn't got it back, but I'm sure she is looking for it too. So are my contacts."

"I can't let her come back without it. In fact, we need to find the amulet before her. Let your people find it now or I will send someone to kill her. If the person who took her amulet contacts her, we cannot risk Let her compromise."

"I understand, Your Highness."

"Oh, and Eric?"

"What's the matter, sir?"

"Don't tell LaFira about this. Don't let her know that we are following Lily. If she knows we have her place, she will insist that I take her back to the palace. I can't do this until I find the amulet. "

Alec bowed, and his sturdy black eyes moved towards the ground. No matter how hard he grinds his teeth, he can't let him tell me what he thought to me like his predecessor Alpha. I think one day I will become a great leader, but now I am very young and have no experience. This weakened the efficiency of Aknet's stronghold and the entire army. I can admit it, at least to myself.

I want to know if my father had dealt with this matter before he died, would he make it so bad. The expulsion of a member of the royal family for losing the amulet of enthusiasm is a serious matter. There should be more investigations. I should let Lily stay in the palace until I know more about what happened. If I hadn't sent her away so recklessly, none of this would have happened. Now, whoever owns this amulet can use Lily to deal with the entire pack of wolves. If she is still here, she may have been monitored. Now I am not sure if she has compromised. If the person who stole the amulet somehow contacted her and threatened to use it against her, she might be persuaded to commit some crimes against us. Until the amulet is safe, she is a burden and cannot go home.

Alec bent over, waiting for me to send him away. His almost unabashed contempt didn't make me feel better about screwing up everything. No one mentions it explicitly except Raphaela, but I know everyone is thinking about that prophecy. A person only needs four ardent amulets of activity, and they can rule the world.

Errors accumulate faster than problems can be solved. I sent Alec away, and when he turned to leave, there was a stiff smile on his mouth. What is he hiding from me? I opened my mouth to call him back, but stopped. If he hadn't told me earlier, he wouldn't have any further encouragement. I must earn his trust, and my work has been a complete mess so far.

I hugged my body and stood on the edge of the sidewalk. It seems that the rain here has been falling non-stop, and the continuous downpour makes me upset. I know this is related to some kind of high pressure or low pressure system, but I am tired of this kind of depression. Especially because it was the first day I left the apartment. I am alone, but he made an appointment to meet in an hour. He still doesn't believe that I can live DúLì, but this is the price I have to pay in order to breathe fresh air.

Hope to find her.

I blinked to dissipate the rain from my eyelashes, and try not to let the irritation behind my eyes shed tears. When I think of her, I think of too many memories, and the way to end all this makes me feel empty, painful, and distrustful of everyone. I will never go back to the past. It's all because of her.

I crossed the road, hoping that this action would wake her from my thoughts. I wandered near the city, bought some necessities at the corner market, and then went to a bookstore, where I bought a paperback book that I always wanted to read. I hope it can survive the rain, because I put it in a plastic bag in my jacket. The icy rain was bitterly cold, even though it had fallen several layers, plus an umbrella to protect it from the rain. Nevertheless, the wind blew the water to one side, and I am now completely drenched. I hope that no matter what restaurant Everem chooses to meet me, there will be some decent tea or coffee. Don't forget there is food. I am almost starving to death, and I have fifteen minutes to kill before Ephraim appears.

I stood outside the restaurant, looking for any trace of that man through the ironed window. I didn't know where he was, sighed, turned around, and stared at the rain-drenched street. The car sped by in spite of the splashing water. People pushed me past, walked into the puddle, splashed dirty water, and soiled the bottom of my pants.

I cursed in a low voice, trying to avoid the edge of the sidewalk. I can stroll to another store, where there are countless tourist trash like the one I just left, but I don’t want to repeat the experience of the first three stores.

"Fuck it," I muttered, hurriedly towards the entrance of the restaurant. At least if it's busy inside, I can get us a table and some hot sex before I freeze to death.

The restaurant was full of voices. All the counter seats were seated, and the waitress moved at a fast speed, placing orders at the counter, accepting orders without writing down the order, and moving through the crowd easily and skillfully. Their red and white uniforms are reminiscent of diners in the 1950s. I saw them serving ale and jukeboxes in the corner of the restaurant. How anyone gets the right order is a miracle.

"How many are there, miss?" The hostess smiled at me and walked up. She was wearing the same uniform as the waitress, but she was wearing bright red lipstick and light blue eyeshadow. While chewing gum, she waited for my answer, and put her hands on her hips, with a lock of blond hair tucked behind her ears. Her name tag says "Ruth"

"Oh, uh... two, thank you?"

My lack of dining experience is so obvious, when she waved me to follow her to a deck at the back of the restaurant, I lowered my head.

"I want you to be closer to the front, but we only have this. Unless you want to wait 15 minutes. Is this okay?"

I nodded, swinging my drenched coat. When I walked into the red leather compartment, the partition sighed under my feet.

"Your waiter is Mandy. She will be here in a moment."

"thanks."

She patted the gum, smiled and walked away, twisting her hips. Her role has obviously been cancelled.

I scanned the room again to make sure no one was interested in me, then glanced at the menu. I have eaten many of the listed foods, but I have never eaten them in small restaurants. I hope the food here is good. My stomach grumbled and agreed.

"Hey."

I jumped up and stared at Everem, he was as wet as I was. He was confused for a while, then slid down to the seat opposite me.

"Oh, you scared me to death. When you sneak close to someone, you may want to make more noise." I took a calm breath, feeling my heart beating frantically. Avery was not there a minute ago. In fact, he hadn't even been to my restaurant before I looked at the menu. How did he do that

"I apologize. I tend to be silent. Next time I'll stomped all the way down the aisle."

He shook his coat off and pushed it aside. The shirt he was wearing was black with a light gray skull inside. "Death is but the beginning" is written on it. I don't know where he got it from. This is absolutely commendable, his arms and chest are comfortably attached to it.

I removed my eyes from him and stared at the smooth menu again.

"What's delicious here?" I asked.

"Oh, you know... still the same. Hamburgers are always good. I like their meatloaf. I suggest you buy a sandwich or a hamburger. Those are always safe. Of course there are also fried potatoes. Bar. Maybe a sandwich?"

I stared at the menu for a while before the waitress arrived. After ordering the meal, we sat quietly, listening to the beach boy’s "California Girl" playing on the jukebox. I quietly tapped with my fingers on the table, not knowing what Everem was thinking. His hair stood up like nails, wet and hard. His face still had the luster of rain, and he did not wipe it off with a napkin.

He is absolutely handsome. Compared to his apartment or gym, I can see more of his characteristics from the lights of the diners. He is older than me, but I don't know how old he is. A few lines on his stiff eyes told me that he had seen many action scenes in his life. During the training, I saw the scars on his chest and back. Every scar has a story I want to know. He finally told me what I was starting to doubt-he was a prince, not a minor royal family-but it only raised more questions, and these questions need to be answered.

All these questions are back in my mind, and the silence between us makes me a little uncomfortable. I hope he is not a taciturn person. He seems to be more at home in his own home than here outside. Maybe it's because he's always jealous every second here, but now I need someone who can talk to. I have been struggling internally, screaming for answers, and have to say it all. This is the only way to make yourself feel more relaxed and more focused. (To be continued) (End of this chapter)
