Chapter 8: The Guardian of Satan (8)

When Van Fan followed Horace, the others in their group also decided to skip the speech and follow them. When they left the border of Grandi, their pace quickened. Hollinger Avenue stretched far in front of them—a dusty brown road winding through sparse trees, and finally extended to the top of the distant hills. Tom's family named the town after them, and Horace's family has this way. Ironically, when Tom stayed safely at home, Horace did not lose the irony.

At noon, Horace began to slow down. The group of people walked into a large open space, and the trees fanned out in a semicircular ring about two hundred yards in diameter. The roadside was full of golden grass, and the ground was razed to the ground. In the distance, the mountains are covered with the same grass, sparsely dotted with trees.

"Yes, Fan Fan, how did you end up in this little joke?" one of them asked.

Fan Fan looked back, then looked forward, indicating that Horace was riding in front of them.

The man said loudly, ah, nodded. "How is your sister, boy?"

"She is fine, but I already miss her."

Horace stopped, and following Horace's sight, they saw what was preventing him. A rider wearing a black sè robe ran towards them from the tree in front. The wind wrapped his clothes around him like a dark flame. He rode very fast—a lonely devil knight.

The men drew their weapons, ready for anything. "This is a demon knight," one of them whispered. Fan Fan has heard the stories of these devil warriors who served under Morey. These stories claim that the Devil Knight has never been defeated in battle. Most of their opponents just ran away.

Fan Fan put his hand under the cloak, and put his fingers around the hilt of the dagger that Elspeth gave him. He has never participated in battle before. Now, the feeling of glory that he thought of in his heart, served Morey in the militia, and escaped when the terrible knight approached their team.

Everyone is nervous, and angering this demon knight is the worst thing they can do. When the devil knight came within fifty meters, he suddenly stopped, emitting a cloud of dust on him and his horse. When the dust began to dissipate, Fan Fan saw the warrior well for the first time. In addition to his midnight black robe, the man also wore a crimson half-face mask, exposing his mouth and chin. The cover of his cloak was over. He wears a pair of leather protective gloves, covered with steel nails, passing through the backs of his hands.

Fan Fan guessed that from the appearance of the rider, these stories may be true, and their reputation is well-deserved. The rider did not speak, his robe was draped over his black horse, and the two men were almost one creature.

"My lord," Horace said, "can we help you to some extent?"

The devil knight said nothing, and even his horse stood still.

Horace looked at the people behind him, and Van Fan noticed Horace's expression of fear. This was the first time he saw this man scared. He likes to see him nervous. Despite this, Horace was still the leader of the expedition, and they depended on him to know how to deal with it without killing them all.

"My lord, we are on our way to find Lord Morey," Horace said. His compliment is obvious, just like he said. They dare not try to pass that person on the road. "If you want, my master, our team will give you the way and take a detour."

The rider in black said nothing. Horace told the others in the saddle sideways. They will move around. "Come with me, boys."

Only Fan Fan saw what happened next, because it happened so quickly that no one else noticed. Fan Fan felt that the air was sucked away like a vacuum cleaner. Time seemed to stagnate around him. A bee drifted in front of him. Fan Fan saw every wing on the thin wings. The boy sat in awe of the world around him ─ ─ it sounded like he had never heard it before, Sè Cai had never imagined it. The scene becomes clear and unstoppable. The devil knight stood up on the stirrup.

When Hollinger bent over on the saddle and began to turn to the black devil knight, the devil knight used an extremely fast and smooth movement to pull the weapon out of its place, and then ended in a sharp arc. On Hollinger's chest. Fan Fan's benefactor didn't even know how he was hit.

Fan Fan watched the development of the incident, but he felt like a bullet in the race. His body can't keep up with how he feels. Fan Fan tried to draw a sword from his cloak to scream, anything is fine. He felt he had fallen into a tar pit.

The voice was like a hundred women mourning their lost child, Fan Fan's ear whispered. He saw a group of demons swarming from the tree. The horses understand this danger. They rammed frantically under their riders, and those people didn't know they were going to escape. None of them seemed to realize what had happened—only Horace, at that moment, made a whimper in front of them.

Under Fanfan, Whistler was completely out of control. He tried to control the animal. The devil rushed towards the people around him like a wave, and the raw power of this attack made the horses and riders tumble in the air.

Whistler staggered forward, Fan Fan lost control. He fell from the saddle and hit his head so hard that stars appeared in his vision. His right foot was stuck in the stirrup and Whistler dragged him. Fan Fan tried to reach for the saddle corner, but suddenly everything turned black.

When Fan Fan regained consciousness, he got a headache. He stretched his hand to a painful spot behind his head, then opened his eyes. When he took his hand back from the stinging lump at the bottom of his neck, he opened his eyes and saw fresh blood on his fingers.

Fan Fan tried to stand up and found that his ankle was crippled. His whole right leg was hurting badly. A shadow enveloped him. Fan Fan looked up and saw Whistler standing next to him when he was eating grass. At that time, Fan Fan's foot was still stuck in the stirrup.

He turned his leg and loosened the toe of his boot. The leg was numb with a bang. Fan Fan wanted to know if anything might be broken. When blood circulation returns to normal, a terrible tingling sensation takes over the legs. Fan Fan endured the sensation of hundreds of spiders dancing under his skin. He turned his head and realized that something terrible had happened when he was in a coma.

He and Whistler are now some distance from the road where the attack took place. Fan Fan now knows that Whistler dragged him out of the terrible scene depicted in front of him and saved his life. He stood up and muttered to himself: "How is this possible?"

Fan Fan hobbled towards the road. When he approached, a group of carrion-eating birds and flies disturbed him. Fan Fan stood there in horror. This delegation does not have much resemblance to human beings now. The ten people and Mr. Hollinger are dead. But not only that, the way they were slaughtered is beyond human comprehension.

Fan Fan didn't believe that a lonely devil knight could do this. He realized that the demons he saw were as real in the material world as in the jīng god world. They have crossed the border and entered the material world with incomprehensible power.

Fan Fan tried to prevent the painful nausea of his intestines, he turned and left the scene. On the road behind, where he and the others were at the time of the attack, Fan Fan saw a set of very different hoof prints walking towards Grandi. Fan Fan ran to the place where the knight was sitting on his mountain. He confirmed his suspicion. The knight didn't turn around and returned to the way he came. He and his demons are going to Grandi... and Elspeth!

Fanfan flew up in a panic. He was only half a day away from home. He found the overturned truck, where there were their supplies. They were scattered in every direction on the ground, as if exploded. Among the discarded weapons, Fan Fan found another sword, which was a two-handed broadsword. He thought he could handle it.

Fan Fan fixed the scabbard to Whistler's saddle and took two cakes and some beef jerky. He hasn't eaten all day, and his physical strength is gradually weakening. Fanfan returned to the saddle, seeing Hollinger's peaceful cooperation for the last time, and then rushed towards Grandi with the stallion. (To be continued) (End of this chapter)
